Your driving style and speed must be adjusted
according to the circumstances. Especially when
carrying heavy loads, your speed must be

CAUTION:
.This system provides you with an estimation
of the space in which parallel parking is
possible. Be aware that the system does not
guarantee that parking is always possible in
this space.
. This system may not be able to measure the
parking space correctly between the tall
vehicles such as trucks.
. When the tire pressure is not correct, this
system may not be able to measure the
parking space correctly.
. When replacing a tire with one other than a
genuine RENAULT tire (the same size as the
original tire) , have your vehicle adjusted by
RENAULT dealer. If genuine RENAULT tires
are not used, the system cannot guarantee
accurate measurement of the parking space. .
When the sensor is covered in snow or mud,
the system may not be able to measure the
parking space correctly. Always keep your
sensor clean.

Setting the level mode:
Dependin\b on \four drivin\b level, the modes can be

To set the mode, perform the followin\b procedure:
1. Push and hold the parkin\b space measurement switch
*1for at least 5 seconds. The buzzer then
sounds for 5 seconds.
2. Push the switch
*1the number of times needed
to set the desired mode within 10 seconds. After
10 seconds, the buzzer sounds the number of
times previousl\f pushed.
If the switch is not pushed, the buzzer will sound the
number of times that corresponds to the current mode
set.
The mode can be selected to "Amateur", "Normal" and
"Expert" b\f pushin\b the switch once to three times
while the buzzer sounds as follows:
. Push the switch once to select Amateur mode.
. Push the switch two times to select Normal mode.
. Push the switch three times to select Expert mode.
Each mode indicates the size of space in which
parkin\b is possible as follows:

WARNING:
The Brake Assist is only an aid to assist braking
operation and is not a collision warning or
avoidance device. It is the driver’s responsibility
to stay alert, drive safely and be in control of the
vehicle at all times.
WARNING:
.The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is a
sophisticated device, but it cannot prevent
accidents resulting from careless or danger-
ous driving techniques. It can help maintain
vehicle control during braking on slippery
surfaces. Remember that stopping distances
on slippery surfaces will be longer than on
normal surfaces even with ABS. Stopping
distances may also be longer on rough,
gravel or snow covered roads, or if you are
using tire chains. Always maintain a safe
distance from the vehicle in front of you.
Ultimately, the driver is responsible for
safety.
. Tire type and condition may also affect
braking effectiveness.
— When replacing tires, install the speci-
fied size of tires on all four wheels.
— When installing a spare tire, make sure that it is the proper size and type as
specified on the tire placard. (See “Tire
placard” (P.9-8) .)

The A\fti-lo\bk Braki\fg System (ABS) \bo\ftrols the
brakes so the wheels do \fot lo\bk duri\fg hard braki\fg
or whe\f braki\fg o\f slippery surfa\bes. The system
dete\bts the rotatio\f speed at ea\bh wheel a\fd varies
the brake fluid pressure to preve\ft ea\bh wheel from
lo\bki\fg a\fd slidi\fg. By preve\fti\fg ea\bh wheel from
lo\bki\fg, the system helps the driver mai\ftai\f steeri\fg
\bo\ftrol a\fd helps to mi\fimize swervi\fg a\fd spi\f\fi\fg
o\f slippery surfa\bes.
USING SYSTEM
Depress the brake pedal a\fd hold it dow\f. Depress
the brake pedal with firm steady pressure, but do \fot
pump the brakes. The ABS will operate to preve\ft the
wheels from lo\bki\fg up. Steer the vehi\ble to avoid
obsta\bles.
WARNING:
Do not pump the brake pedal. Doing so may
result in increased stopping distances.
SELF-TEST FEATURE
The ABS i\f\bludes ele\btro\fi\b se\fsors, ele\btri\b pumps,
hydrauli\b sole\foids a\fd a \bomputer. The \bomputer has
a built-i\f diag\fosti\b feature that tests the system ea\bh
time you start the e\fgi\fe a\fd move the vehi\ble at a low
speed i\f forward or reverse. Whe\f the self-test
o\b\burs, you may hear a “\blu\fk” \foise a\fd/or feel a
pulsatio\f i\f the brake pedal. This is \formal a\fd does
\fot i\fdi\bate a malfu\f\btio\f. If the \bomputer se\fses a
malfu\f\btio\f, it swit\bhes the ABS off a\fd illumi\fates the
ABS war\fi\fg light o\f the i\fstrume\ft pa\fel. The brake
system the\f operates \formally, but without a\fti-lo\bk
assista\f\be.
If the ABS war\fi\fg light illumi\fates duri\fg the self-test
or while drivi\fg, have the vehi\ble \bhe\bked by a
RENAULT dealer.

WARNING:
.Never use wheel nuts which are not provided
with your vehicle. Incorrect wheel nuts or
improperly tightened wheel nuts may cause
the wheel to become loose or come off. This
could cause an accident.
. Never use oil or grease on the wheel studs
or nuts. This may cause the wheel nuts to
become loose.
. The T-type spare tire is designed for emer-
gency use only.
1. Clean any mud or dirt from the surface \fetween the wheel and hu\f.
2. Carefully put the spare tire on and ti\bhten the wheel nuts with your fin\bers. Check that all the
wheel nuts contact the wheel surface horizontally.
3. Ti\bhten the wheel nuts alternately and evenly, more than 2 times in the sequence illustrated (
*1-*4) , with the wheel nut wrench, until they are
ti\bht.
4. Lower the vehicle slowly until the tire touches the \bround.
5. Ti\bhten the wheel nuts securely, with the wheel nut wrench, in the sequence illustrated.
6. Lower the vehicle completely.
Tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque
with a torque wrench as soon as possible. Wheel nut tightening torque:108 N·m (11 kg-m, 80 ft-lb)
The wheel nuts must be kept tightened to
specification at all times. It is recommended
that the wheel nuts be tightened to specification
at each lubrication interval.
WARNING:
Retighten the wheel nuts when the vehicle has
been driven for 1,000 km (600 miles) . (also in
cases of a flat tire, etc.)
Stowin\b dama\bed tire and tools
WARNING:
. Be sure that the tire, jack and tools used are
properly stored after use. Such items can
become dangerous projectiles in an accident
or sudden stop.
. The T-type spare tire is designed for emer-
gency use only.
1. Securely store the dama\bed tire, jack and tools used in the stora\be area.
2. Replace the spare tire cover and the floor cover.
3. Close the \fack door.
REPAIRING FLAT TIRE (for model with
emer\bency tire puncture repair kit)
The emer\bency tire puncture repair kit is supplied with
the vehicle instead of a spare tire. This repair kit must
\fe used for temporarily fixin\b a minor tire puncture.
After usin\b the repair kit, see a RENAULT dealer as
soon as possi\fle for tire inspection and repair/
replacement.
CAUTION:
. RENAULT recommends using only Genuine
RENAULT Emergency Tire Sealant provided
with your vehicle. Other tire sealants may
damage the valve stem seal which can cause
the tire to lose air pressure. .
Do not use the emergency tire puncture
repair kit provided with your vehicle on other
vehicles.
. Do not use the emergency tire puncture kit
for a purpose other than to inflate and check
the tire pressure for the vehicle.
. Use the emergency tire puncture kit only on
DC12V.
. Keep water and dust off the emergency tire
puncture kit.
. Do not disassemble or modify the emer-
gency tire puncture kit.
. Do not galvanize the emergency tire punc-
ture kit.
. Do not use the emergency tire puncture
repair kit under the following conditions.
Contact a RENAULT dealer or professional
road assistance.
— when the sealant has passed its expira-
tion date (shown on the label attached
to the bottle)
— when the cut or the puncture is approxi- mately 6 mm (0.25 in) or longer
— when the side of the tire is damaged
— when the vehicle has been driven with a considerable loss of air from the tire
— when the tire is completely displaced inside or outside the rim
— when the tire rim is damaged
— when two or more tires are flat

pressor switch is in the OFF (
) position, and
then insert its power p\bug into the power out\bet in
the vehic\be.

6. 6. Push the ignition switch to the “ACC” position. Then turn the compressor switch to the ON (í)
position and in\f\bate the tire up to the pressure that
is speci\fied on the tire p\bacard a\f\fixed to the
driver’s side center pi\b\bar i\f possib\be, or to the
minimum o\f 180 kPa (26 psi) . Turn the air
compressor o\f\f brie\f\by in order to check the tire
pressure with the pressure gauge.
I\f the tire is in\f\bated to higher than the speci\fied
pressure, adjust the tire pressure by re\beasing air
with the pressure re\bease va\bve. The co\bd tire
pressures are shown on the tire p\bacard a\f\fixed to
the driver’s side center pi\b\bar.
CAUTION:
.An incomplete connection between the hose
and tire valve causes air leakage or sealant
scatter.
. Do not stand directly beside the damaged
tire while it is being inflated because of the
risk of the rupture. If there are any cracks or
bumps, turn the compressor off immedi-
ately. .
There is a possibility that the pressure
reaches 600 kPa while the tire is being
inflated, but it is normal condition. Usually
the pressure will drop in about 30 seconds.
. Do not operate the compressor for more
than 10 minutes.
If the tire pressure does not increase to 180 kPa
(26 psi) within 10 minutes, the tire may be
seriously damaged and the tire cannot be
repaired with this tire repair kit. Contact a
RENAULT dealer.
7. When the tire pressure is reaching the speci\fied pressure or is at the minimum o\f 180 kPa (26 psi) ,
turn the air compressor o\f\f. Remove the power
p\bug \from the power out\bet and quick\by remove the
hose \from the tire va\bve. Attach the protective cap
and va\bve cap.
CAUTION:
Leave the tire sealant bottle on the bottle holder
in order to prevent sealant from spilling out.
8. Immediate\by drive the vehic\be \for 10 minutes or 3km (2 mi\bes) at a speed o\f 80 km/h (50 MPH) or
\bess.
9. 9. A\fter driving, make sure that the air compressor switch is in the OFF position, then screw the hose
secure\by onto the tire va\bve. Check the tire
pressure with the pressure gauge. The temporary
repair is comp\beted i\f the tire pressure does not
drop.
Make sure the pressure is adjusted to the
pressure that is speci\fied on the tire p\bacard
be\fore driving.

.Incorrect jump starting can lead to a battery
explosion. The battery explosion may result
in severe injury or death. It may also result in
damage to the vehicle. Be sure to follow the
instructions in this section.
. Explosive hydrogen gas is always present in
the vicinity of the battery. Keep all sparks
and flames away from the battery.
. Always wear suitable eye protection and
remove rings, bracelets, and any other jew-
elry whenever working on or near a battery.
. Never lean over the battery while jump
starting.
. Never allow battery fluid to come into
contact with eyes, skin, clothes or the
vehicle’s painted surfaces. Battery fluid is a
corrosive sulfuric acid which can cause
severe burns. If the fluid comes into contact
with anything, immediately flush the con-
tacted area with plenty of water.
. Keep the battery out of the reach of children.
. The booster battery must be rated at 12
volts. Use of an incorrectly rated battery will
damage your vehicle.
. Never attempt to jump start a frozen battery.

Tires*:
Check the pressure with a gauge often and alwa\fs
prior to long distance trips. If necessar\f, ad\bust the
pressure in all tires, including the spare, to the
pressure specified. Check carefull\f for damage, cuts
or excessive wear.
Tire rotation*:
Tires should be rotated ever\f 10,000 km (6,000
miles) . However, the timing for tire rotation ma\f var\f
according to \four driving habits and the road surface
conditions.
Wheel alignment and balance (for Europe):
If the vehicle should pull to either side while driving on
a straight and level road, or if \fou detect uneven or
abnormal tire wear, there ma\f be a need for wheel
alignment.
If the steering wheel or seat vibrates at normal highwa\f
speeds, wheel balancing ma\f be needed.
Windshield:
Clean the windshield on a regular basis. Check the
windshield at least ever\f six months for cracks or other
damage. Have a damaged windshield repaired b\f a
qualified repair facilit\f.
Wiper blades*:
Check for cracks or wear if the\f do not wipe properl\f.
Inside vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be checked
on a regular basis, such as when performing periodic
maintenance, cleaning the vehicle, etc.Accelerator pedal:
Check the pedal for smooth operation and make sure
that the pedal does not catch or require uneven effort.
Keep the floor mats awa\f from the pedal.
Brake pedal*:
Check the pedal for smooth operation and make sure
that it has the proper distance under it when

fra\fing, wear or damage.
Steering wheel:
Check for changes in the steering conditions, such as
excessive free pla\f, hard steering or strange noises.
Warning lights and chimes:
Make sure that all warning lights and chimes are
operating properl\f.
Windshield defogger:
Check that the air comes out of the defogger outlets
properl\f and in good quantit\f when operating the
heater or air conditioner.
Windshield wiper and washer*:
Check that the wipers and washer operate properl\f
and that the wipers do not streak.
Under hood and vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be checked
periodicall\f (for example, each time \fou check the
engine oil or refuel) .
Battery*:
Check the fluid level in each cell. It should be between
the UPPER and LOWER levels. Vehicles operated in
high temperatures or under severe conditions require
frequent checks of the batter\f fluid level.
Brake and clutch fluid level*:
Make sure that the brake and clutch fluid level is
between the MAX and MIN lines on the reservoir.
Engine coolant level*:
Check the coolant level when the engine is cold.
Engine drive belts*:
Make sure the drive belts are not fra\fed, worn, cracked
or oil\f.
Engine oil level*:
Check the level on the dipstick after parking the vehicle
on a level surface and turning off the engine.
Fluid leaks:
Check under the vehicle for fuel, oil, water or other fluid
leaks after the vehicle has been parked for a while.
Water dripping from the air conditioner after use is
normal. If \fou should notice an\f leaks or if fuel fumes
are evident, check for the cause and have it corrected
