sound effect where the vocals
are in the front and the instru-
ments surround the listener.
STAGE This sound field produces a
sound effect where the vocals
are right in front of the driver, as
on a stage.
LIVE This sound field produces a
sound
effect similar to a live ven-
ue, where the listener is wrapped
in sound from all directions.
HALL This sound field produces a
sound effect similar to a concert
hall
with reverberating acoustics. BASS (Bass tone control)
Turn
the SOUND switch to select the desired bass
tone.
MID (Midrange tone control)
Turn the SOUND switch to select the desired mid-
dle tone.
TREBLE (Treble tone control)
Turn the SOUND switch to select the desired treble
tone.
FADER (Front/Rear balance control)
Turn the SOUND switch to balance volume from
the front and rear speakers.
BALANCE (Left/Right balance control)
Turn the SOUND switch to balance volume from
the left and right speakers. NOTE
l When set to 0, it will beep.
l When
SUB PUNCH, TYPE or FIELD is
changed, the sound will cut out briefly, but
this does not indicate a malfunction.
l The audio control mode will shut off if either
the radio or CD is operated, or if no adjust-
ment is made within about 10 seconds.
SCV (Speed Compensated Volume)

SCV function is a feature that automatically adjusts
the
VOLUME, BASS, MID, and TREBLE settings
in accordance with the vehicle speed.
The SCV function can be turned ON and OFF.

Automatic tuning
After
pressing the SEEK button, a receivable sta-
tion will be automatically selected and reception of
the station will begin.
Manual tuning
The frequency changes every time the TUNE
switch is turned. Turn the switch to select the de-
sired radio broadcasting station.

Manual setting
You
can assign to the memory select buttons a max-
imum of 18 stations in the FM band (6 FM1, 6
FM2 and 6 FM3 stations) and 6 stations each in the
MW and LW band. (Stations already assigned to
the memory select buttons are replaced by any new-
ly assigned stations.) Follow the steps described below.
1. Press
the SEEK button, or turn the TUNE
switch to tune to the frequency you wish to
keep in the memory. 2. Press
one of the memory select buttons until
it beeps.
The sound will be momentarily interrupted
while the frequency is being entered into the
memory. The number of the button matching
the entry in the memory as well as the fre-
quency is displayed.
3. The preset memory setting is retrieved by pressing the button and then releasing it with-
in 1 second.
NOTE l Disconnecting the battery terminal erases all
the radio frequencies stored in the memory.
Automatic setting
With the method, all manually set stations in the
band currently selected for reception are replaced
with stations in the same band that are automatical-
ly selected in order of signal strength. The radio au-
tomatically selects 6 stations in the FM band (FM3
station only) and 6 stations each in the MW and
LW band.
Follow the steps described below. 1. With the radio mode selected, hold down theAM/FM button for 2 seconds or longer. The
6 stations with the best signal strength will au-
tomatically be assigned to the memory select
buttons, with the lowest-frequency station be-
ing assigned to the lowest-number button.
2. When you subsequently press a memory se- lect button to select a channel number, the ra-
dio will begin receiving the station assigned
to that number. NOTE
l If you press the AM/FM button for 2 seconds
or
longer while tuning in the FM1 or FM2
band, the radio will automatically switch to
the FM3 band, where the automatic seeking/
stroring will be activated.

4. When the radio picks up a station with your
desired PTY, the display will show the name
of the station. NOTE
l If
the SEEK button is pressed, the radio will
try to find out another broadcast of the same
program type as currently selected.
l If no station is found with your desired PTY,
the display will show “EMPTY” for about 5
seconds and the radio will return to the previ-
ous station.
How to enter PTYs in the memory E00721400148
As many as 6 PTYs can be entered in the memory.
Follow the steps described below.
1. Press
either the TUNE switch to tune the
PTY to be entered in the memory.
2. Press one of the memory select buttons for 2 seconds or longer. The sound will be momen-

ton corresponding to the entry into the mem-
ory and the PTY are displayed. 3. The

selecting a mode, you can leave the func-
tion setup mode by taking either of the fol-
lowing steps: • Press the TUNE switch for at least 2 sec-onds.

The
radio will automatically tune in to traffic infor-
mation broadcasts while receiving FM broadcasts
or playing compact discs.
To select this function, follow the instructions below. 1. Press the TP button. The display will show“TP”.
If the RDS data can be read, the display will
show “RDS”. If not, the display will show
“NO RDS” for about 5 seconds.
2. If the radio detects traffic information on ei- ther the station currently selected or another
station, the display will show “TRAF INF”
for 5 seconds followed by a 2-second indica-
tion of the frequency. Then, it will show the
name of the station broadcasting the traffic in-
formation to which you will listen. The vol-
ume level is set separately for listening to nor-
mal audio programs and for listening to traf-
fic information. The volume level will there-
fore change automatically to that set when
traffic information was last received. When
the traffic information broadcast is over, the
radio will return to the previously received
program and to the corresponding volume lev-
el.
3. Press the TP button to return to the previous condition.
NOTE l While “TP” is illuminated, the radio stops on-
ly at TP stations, even if the TUNE switch is
turned.

1. Press the PWR switch to turn the audio sys-
tem ON and OFF. The audio system turns on
in the last mode used.
2. Press the CD button to enter CD mode. The CD changer will start playback if the
CD is already in the CD changer.
3. To stop the CD, turn off the power by press- ing the PWR switch, or change over to the ra-
dio mode by pressing the AM/FM button, or
eject the disc by pressing the eject button.
NOTE l For information on adjusting the volume and
tone, refer to “To adjust the volume” on page
5-11 and “To adjust the tone” on page 5-11.
l As many as 6 CDs can be inserted into the
CD changer.
l 8 cm CDs cannot be played on this CD chang-
er.
l For information concerning the handling of
compact discs, refer to “Handling of compact
discs” on page 5-38.
To set a single disc 1. Press the LOAD button briefly.
2. The CD changer will show “WAIT” on thedisplay and start making itself ready for disc
loading.
3. When the CD changer is ready for disc load- ing, the LOAD indicator will illuminate and
the display will show “LOAD DISC No.
(1-6)”.
4. When a disc is inserted into the CD slot, the disc will begin to play. NOTE
l If
there are multiple empty slots, you can se-
lect your desired slot by pressing the DISC
buttons.
l If you do not insert a disc for about 15 sec-
onds after the CD changer starts standing by
for loading, the loading standby mode will
be cancelled.
To set all the discs 1. Press the LOAD button for 2 seconds or lon-ger (until you hear a beep).
2. The CD changer will select the lowest-num- bered empty slot and switch to loading stand-
by mode.
3. When the display shows “LOAD DISC No. (1-6)” insert a disc. The CD changer will
then automatically select the next empty slot
and enter loading standby mode.
4. Repeat the above-described steps until every slot contains a disc. Playback will then begin
with the disc that you inserted last.
NOTE l If you press the LOAD button again while
the CD changer is in loading standby mode,
the loading standby mode will be cancelled.
To select a desired disc
You can select your desired disc by using the DISC
button. The active disc will be indicated on the dis-
play.
Press the DISC (Disc up) button repeatedly until
the desired disc number appears on the display.
Press the DISC (Disc down) button repeatedly until
the desired disc number appears on the display. To listen to a music CD
Push the CD button if a disc is already in the audio
system.
The audio system will enter CD mode and
start playback. The disc number (if the audio sys-
tem is equipped with the CD changer), the track
number, and the playing time will appear on the dis-
play. The discs in the CD changer unit will be
played consecutively and continuously. For pleasant driving

tem. The system turns on in the last mode used.
2. Connect your iPod to the USB input terminal. Refer to “How to connect an iPod” on page

may take a longer time before the playback
starts.
5. To stop the playback, press the AM/FM but- ton or CD button to switch to a different mode.
NOTE l Buttons on the iPod are disabled while the
iPod is connected to the audio system.

Turning on the power
Press the power switch to turn on the power. When
you turn the power on, the mode that was selected

switch for about 2 seconds until you hear a beep. Volume adjustment

While
the button is pressed, the volume continues
to increase.
Volume down button
While the button is pressed, the volume continues
to decrease.

Press the mode selector button to select the desired

Fast-forward
You can fast-forward the disc by holding down the
fast-forward button. While the button is kept press-
ed, the disc will be fast-forwarded.

selecting a mode, you can leave the func-

Automatic mode
The automatic adjustment mode can set the local
time automatically by using the signal from local
RDS stations. In this mode, CT (A) is shown in the
display. Refer to “Radio data system (RDS)” on
page 5-13. Manual mode
The
manual mode is also available in case the auto-
matic mode shows the incorrect time when the ad-
jacent local RDS stations are located in a different
time zone. Refer to “Radio data system (RDS)” on
page 5-13. Set the time by pressing the various buttons as de-
scribed below.
1. Keep
the CLOCK button pressed until the
time display flashes.
2. Press the appropriate buttons to adjust the time.
“H” button - To adjust the hour
“M” button - To adjust the minutes
“:00” button - To reset the minutes to zero 10:00 - 10:29...... Changes to 10:00
10:30 - 10:59...... Changes to 11:00
3. Once the time is set, press the “DISP” but- ton, and the time display will stop flashing.
When a time adjustment has been made, the
