i The electric parking brake can only be
released:
R when the key is in position 1in the igni-
tion lock or
R the ignition was switched on using the
Start/Stop button.
To ensure that you do not roll backwards
when pulling away on an uphill slope, engage
the electric parking brake (Y page 162).

ee lectric parkin gbrake is engaged auto-
matically:
R if DISTRONIC PLUS brings th evehicle to a
standstill or
R if the HOL Dfunction is keeping the vehicle
stationary In addition, at least one of the following con-
ditions must be fulfilled:
R
the engine is switched off.
R the driver' sdoor is open and the seat belt
is not fastened.
R the vehicle is stationar yfor alengthy
period.

i Thee lectric parkin gbrake is not automat-
icall yapplied if the engine is switched off
by the ECO star t/stopfunction.
Releasing automatically The electric parking brake is released auto-
matically when all of the following conditions
are fulfilled:
R
the engine is running.
R the transmissio nisinp osition Dor R.
R the seat belt is fastened.
R you depress the accelerator pedal.
If the transmission is in position R,the boot
lid must be closed.
If your seat belt is not fastened, the following
conditions must be fulfilled to automatically
release the electric parkin gbrake:
R thed river's door is closed
R yo uh ave shifted out of transmission posi-
tion Por you have previously driven faster
than 3km/h

pletely, the steering wheel is moved to the

Cancelling Active Parking Assist X
Stop the movemen tofthe multifunction
steeri ngwheel or steer yourself.
Activ eParking Assist will be cancelled at
once. The Park Assist cancelled mes-
sage appears in the multifunction display.
or
X Press the PARKTRONI Cbutton on the
centr econsole (Y page 218).
PARKTRONI Cisswitched off and Active
Parking Assist is immediately cancelled.
The Park Assist cancelled message
appears in the multifunction display. Activ
eParking Assist is cancelled automati-
cally if:
R parking using Activ eParking Assist is no
longer possible.
R you are drivin gfaster than 10 km/h.
R aw heel spin sand ESP ®
intervenes or fails.
The ÷ warnin glamp lights up in the
instrumen tcluster.
Aw arning ton esounds. The par king symbol
disappears and the multifunction display
shows the ParkA ssist cancelled mes-
sage.
When Activ eParking Assist is cancelled, you
must steer again yourself.
Towing atrailer For vehicles with
atrailer to whitch, the min-
imum length for parking spaces is slightly
increased.
If yo uhavea ttache datrailer to your vehicle,
yo us houl dnot us eActiv eParking Assist.
Once the electrica lconnection is established
between your vehicl eand the trailer, Active
Parking Assist is no longer available .PARK-

and the function is active (Y page 218), warn-
ing displays ;in the COMAN DDisplay are

PARKTRONIC appears:
R in split-screen view as red or yellow brack-
ets around the vehicle symbol in the top
view, or
R in the full screen view, on the right-hand
side at the bottom as red or yellow brackets
around the vehicle symbol.
i The full screen display can also be selec-
ted as front view.
Exiting 360° camera display mode When the func
tion is active and the vehicle
exceeds the speed of 30 km /h,the func tion
is deactivated. The COMAN Ddisplay
switches back to the previously selected
view. You can also switch the display by
selecting the &symbol in the display and

and trunk roads. It is act iveint he 80 km/h
to 18 0km/h range.
If ATTENTIO NASSIST detects typica lindica-
tors of fatigu eorincreasing lapse sincon-
centr ation on the part of the driver, it sug-
gests taking abreak.
ATTENTIO NASSIST asse sses your level of
fat igue or lapse sinconcentr ation by taking
the following crit eria into account:
R your persona ldriving st yle, e.g. steering
characteristics
R journey-relate dparameters ,e.g. time of
day, length of journey

Deleting all laps If you switch off the engine, the RACETIMER

you have stopped 16 laps, the current lap
does not have to be reset.

For safet yreasons ,Mercedes-Ben zrecom-
mends that you only use batteries which have
been tested and approved for your vehicle by
Mercedes-Benz. These batteries provide
inc reased impact protection to preven tvehi-
cle occupant sfrom suffering aci dburns
should the batter ybedamaged in the event
of an accident.
In order for the batter ytoachieve the maxi-
mum possibl eservic elife, it must always be
sufficiently charged.
The vehicle battery, like other batteries, can
discharge over time if you do not use the
vehicle. In such cases, have the batter ydis-
connected at aqualified specialist workshop.
You can also charge the batter ywith a
charger recommended by Mercedes-Benz.
For more information ,please contact aquali-
fied specialist workshop.
Have the batter ycharge checked mor efre-
quently if yo uuse the vehicle mainl yfor short
trips or if you leav eitstanding idle for a
lengthy period .Consult aqualified specialist
workshop if you wish to leave your vehicle
parked up for along period of time.
i When you par kthe vehicle, remove the
key if you do not requir eany electrical con-
sumers .The vehicle will then use ver ylittle
energy, thus conservin gbatter ypower.
i If the power supply has been interrupted,
e.g. if the batter ywas discharged ,you will
have to:

cloc kcan be found in the separate oper-
ating instructions. On vehicles with COMAND Online and a
navigation system, the clock is set auto-
matically.
R reset the function for folding the exterior
mirror sin/out automati cally, by folding

Particularly avoid fire, naked flames, creating
sparks and smoking. Ensure there is sufficient

Do not inhale any battery gases. Do not lean

ing the vehicle or charging the battery ,gases

Allow the frozen battery to thaw out before
charging it or jump-starting.
! Only use battery chargers with amaxi-
mum charging voltage of 14.8 V.
! Only charge the battery using the jump-
start connection point.
Never charge abattery still installed in the
vehicle unless abattery charger unit
approved by Mercedes-Ben zisbeing used. A
