When the parking brake is applied
with the ignition switch in the ON
position, the “Brake Warning Light”
in the instrument cluster will illumi-
nate.
NOTE:
 When the parking brake is ap-plied and the transmission is
placed in gear, the “Brake Warn-
ing Light” will flash. If vehicle
speed is detected, a chime will
sound to alert the driver. Fully
release the parking brake before
attempting to move the vehicle.
 This light only shows that the parking brake is applied. It does
not show the degree of brake ap-
plication.
When parking on a hill, it is important
to turn the front wheels toward the
curb on a downhill grade and away
from the curb on an uphill grade.
Apply the parking brake before plac-
ing the shift lever in PARK, otherwise
the load on the transmission locking
mechanism may make it difficult to
move the shift lever out of PARK. The parking brake should always be ap-
plied whenever the driver is not in the
vehicle.
WARNING!
 Never use the PARK position as a
substitute for the parking brake.
Always apply the parking brake
fully when parked to guard
against vehicle movement and
possible injury or damage.
 When leaving the vehicle, always
remove the key fob from the igni-
tion and lock your vehicle.
 Never leave children alone in a
vehicle, or with access to an un-
locked vehicle. Allowing children
to be in a vehicle unattended is
dangerous for a number of rea-
sons. A child or others could be
seriously or fatally injured. Chil-
dren should be warned not to
touch the parking brake, brake
pedal or the shift lever.

 Do not leave the key fob in or near
the vehicle, and do not leave a
vehicle equipped with Keyless
Enter-N-Go in the ACC or ON/
RUN mode. A child could operate
power windows, other controls, or
move the vehicle.
 Be sure the parking brake is fully
disengaged before driving; failure
to do so can lead to brake failure
and a collision.
 Always fully apply the parking
brake when leaving your vehicle,
or it may roll and cause damage or
injury. Also be certain to leave the
transmission in PARK. Failure to
do so may allow the vehicle to roll
and cause damage or injury.CAUTION!
If the “Brake Warning Light” re-
mains on with the parking brake
released, a brake system malfunc-
tion is indicated. Have the brake
system serviced by an authorized
dealer immediately.

HSA Activation Criteria
The following criteria must be met in
order for HSA to activate:
 Vehicle must be stopped.
 Vehicle must be on a 6% (approxi-mate) grade or greater hill.
 Gear selection matches vehicle up- hill direction (i.e., vehicle facing
uphill is in forward gear; vehicle
backing uphill is in REVERSE
gear).
HSA will work in REVERSE and all
forward gears when the activation cri-
teria have been met. The system will
not activate if the vehicle is placed in
NEUTRAL or PARK.WARNING!
There may be situations on minor
hills (i.e., less than 8%), with a
loaded vehicle, or while pulling a
trailer, when the system will not ac-
tivate and slight rolling may occur.
This could cause a collision with an-
other vehicle or object. Always re-
member the driver is responsible for
braking the vehicle. Towing With HSA
HSA will provide assistance when
starting on a grade when pulling a
trailer.
WARNING!
 If you use a trailer brake control-
ler with your trailer, your trailer
brakes may be activated and de-
activated with the brake switch. If
so, when the brake pedal is re-
leased, there may not be enough
brake pressure to hold the vehicle
and trailer on a hill and this could
cause a collision with another ve-
hicle or object behind you. In or-
der to avoid rolling down the hill
while resuming acceleration,
manually activate the trailer
brake prior to releasing the brake
pedal. Always remember the
driver is responsible for braking
the vehicle.
 HSA is not a parking brake. Al-
ways apply the parking brake
fully when leaving your vehicle.
Also, be certain to leave the trans-
mission in PARK.

 Failure to follow these warnings
may cause the vehicle to roll down
the incline and could collide with
another vehicle, object or person,
and cause serious or fatal injury.
Always remember to use the park-
ing brake while parking on a hill
and that the driver is responsible

HSA Off
If you wish to turn off the HSA sys-
tem, it can be done using the Cus-
tomer Programmable Features in the
Uconnect Touch™ System. Refer to
“Uconnect TOUCH™ SETTINGS” in
“Understanding Your Instrument
Panel” for further information.
READY ALERT BRAKING
Ready Alert Braking may reduce the
time required to reach full braking
during emergency braking situations.
It anticipates when an emergency
braking situation may occur by moni-
toring how fast the throttle is released
by the driver. When the throttle is
released very quickly, Ready Alert
Braking applies a small amount of

TOWING REQUIREMENTS
To promote proper break-in of your
new vehicle drivetrain components
the following guidelines are recom-
mended:CAUTION!
 Do not tow a trailer at all duringthe first 805 km the new vehicle is
driven. The engine, axle or other
parts could be damaged.
 Then, during the first 805 km that
a trailer is towed, do not drive
over 80 km/h and do not make
starts at full throttle. This helps
the engine and other parts of the
vehicle wear in at the heavier
loads.WARNING!
Improper towing can lead to an in-
jury collision. Follow these guide-
lines to make your trailer towing as
safe as possible:

 Make certain that the load is se-
cured in the trailer and it will not
shift during travel. When traile-
ring cargo that is not fully se-
cured, dynamic load shifts can oc-
cur that may be difficult for the
driver to control. You could lose
control of your vehicle and have a
collision.
 When hauling cargo or towing a
trailer, do not overload your ve-
hicle or trailer. Overloading can
cause a loss of control, poor per-
formance, or damage to brakes,
axle, engine, transmission, steer-
ing, suspension, chassis structure,
or tires.
 Safety chains must always be used
between your vehicle and trailer.
Always connect the chains to the
frame or hook retainers of the ve-
hicle hitch. Cross the chains under
the trailer tongue and allow
enough slack for turning corners.

 Vehicles with trailers should not
be parked on a grade. When park-
ing, apply the parking brake on
the tow vehicle. Put the tow ve-
hicle automatic transmission in
PARK. Always, block or "chock"
the trailer wheels.
 GCWR must not be exceeded.
 Total weight must be distrib-
uted between the tow vehicle
and the trailer such that the
following four ratings are not
exceeded:
1. Max loading as defined on the
“Tire and Loading Information”
placard.
2. GTW
3. GAWR
4. Tongue weight rating for the
trailer hitch utilized. (This require-
ment may limit the ability to always
achieve the 10% to 15% range of
tongue weight as a percentage of
total trailer weight.)
Towing Requirements – Tires
Do not attempt to tow a trailer while using a compact spare tire.

 Take care not to allow the con-
tents of TIREFIT to come in con-
tact with hair, eyes, or clothing.
TIREFIT is harmful if inhaled,
swallowed, or absorbed through
the skin. It causes skin, eye, and
respiratory irritation. Flush im-
mediately with plenty of water if
there is any contact with eyes or
skin. Change clothing as soon as
possible, if there is any contact
with clothing.
 TIREFIT Sealant solution con-
tains latex. In case of an allergic
reaction or rash, consult a physi-
cian immediately. Keep TIREFIT
out of reach of children. If swal-
lowed, rinse mouth immediately
with plenty of water and drink
plenty of water. Do not induce
vomiting! Consult a physician im-
mediately. SEALING A TIRE WITH
TIREFIT
(A) Whenever You Stop To Use
TIREFIT:
1. Pull over to a safe location and
turn on the vehicle’s Hazard Warning
flashers.
2. Verify that the valve stem (on the
wheel with the deflated tire) is in a
position that is near to the ground.
This will allow the TIREFIT Hoses
(6) and (7) to reach the valve stem
and keep the TIREFIT kit flat on the
ground. This will provide the best po-
sitioning of the kit when injecting the
sealant into the deflated tire and run-
ning the air pump. Move the vehicle as
necessary to place the valve stem in
this position before proceeding.
3. Place the transmission in PARK
(auto transmission) or in Gear
(manual transmission) and turn Off
the ignition.
4. Set the parking brake.
(B) Setting Up To Use TIREFIT:
1. Turn the Mode Select Knob (5) to
the Sealant Mode position. 2. Uncoil the Sealant Hose (6) and
then remove the cap from the fitting
at the end of the hose.
3. Place the TIREFIT kit flat on the
ground next to the deflated tire.
4. Remove the cap from the valve
stem and then screw the fitting at the
end of the Sealant Hose (6) onto the
valve stem.
5. Uncoil the Power Plug (8) and in-
sert the plug into the vehicle’s 12 Volt
power outlet.
NOTE:
Do not remove foreign objects (e.g.,
screws or nails) from the tire.
(C) Injecting TIREFIT Sealant
Into The Deflated Tire:
 Always start the engine before
turning ON the TIREFIT kit.
NOTE:
Manual transmission vehicles
must have the parking brake en-
gaged and the shift lever in NEU-
TRAL.
 After pressing the Power Button (4), the sealant (white fluid) will

raised. It can start anytime the
ignition switch is on. You can be
injured by moving fan blades.
 Remove any metal jewelry such as
watch bands or bracelets that
might make an inadvertent elec-
trical contact. You could be seri-
ously injured.
 Batteries contain sulfuric acid
that can burn your skin or eyes
and generate hydrogen gas which
is flammable and explosive. Keep
open flames or sparks away from
the battery. 1. Set the parking brake, shift the
automatic transmission into PARK
and turn the ignition to LOCK.
2. Turn off the heater, radio, and all
unnecessary electrical accessories.
3. If using another vehicle to jump-
start the battery, park the vehicle
within the jumper cables reach, set
the parking brake and make sure the
ignition is OFF.
WARNING!
Do not allow vehicles to touch each
other as this could establish a
ground connection and personal in-
jury could result.
JUMP-STARTING
PROCEDUREWARNING!
Failure to follow this procedure
could result in personal injury or
property damage due to battery ex-
plosion.
CAUTION!
Failure to follow these procedures
could result in damage to the charg-
ing system of the booster vehicle or
the discharged vehicle.
1. Connect the positive (+)end of the
jumper cable to the remote positive
(+) post of the discharged vehicle.
2. Connect the opposite end of the
positive (+)jumper cable to the posi-
tive (+)post of the booster battery.
3. Connect the negative end (-)of the
jumper cable to the negative (-)post
of the booster battery.
4. Connect the opposite end of the
negative (-)jumper cable to the re-
mote negative (-)post of the vehicle
with the discharged battery.WARNING!
Do not connect the cable to the nega-
tive post (-)of the discharged bat-
tery. The resulting electrical spark
could cause the battery to explode
and could result in personal injury.

 When “rocking” a stuck vehicleby moving between DRIVE and
REVERSE, do not spin the wheels
faster than 24 km/h, or drivetrain
damage may result.
 Revving the engine or spinning
the wheels too fast may lead to
transmission overheating and
failure. It can also damage the
tires. Do not spin the wheels above
48 km/h while in gear (no trans-
mission shifting occurring).WARNING!
Fast spinning tires can be danger-
ous. Forces generated by excessive
wheel speeds may cause damage, or
even failure, of the axle and tires. A
tire could explode and injure some-
one. Do not spin your vehicle's
wheels faster than 48 km/h or for
longer than 30 seconds continuously
without stopping when you are stuck
and do not let anyone near a spin-
ning wheel, no matter what the
speed. TOW EYES
Your vehicle is equipped with tow
eyes, which are mounted in the front
and the rear.
CAUTION!
Tow eyes are for emergency use only,
to rescue a vehicle stranded off road.
Do not use tow eyes for tow truck
hookup or highway towing. You
could damage your vehicle. Tow
straps are recommended when tow-
ing the vehicle; chains may cause
vehicle damage.WARNING!
Stand clear of vehicles when pulling
with tow eyes. Tow straps and chains
may break, causing serious injury.
SHIFT LEVER
OVERRIDE — 5 SPEED
TRANSMISSION
If a malfunction occurs and the shift
lever cannot be moved out of the
PARK position, you can use the fol-
lowing procedure to temporarily
move the shift lever: 1. Firmly apply the parking brake.
2. Remove the rubber tray from the
storage bin located to the right of the
shift lever. The override access port is
near the bottom of the bin to the right
of the shift lever gate.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/
RUN position without starting the en-
gine (engine OFF).
4. Press and maintain firm pressure
on the brake pedal.
5. Using a screwdriver or similar tool,
press and hold the override tab
through the access port on the center
console.
6. Move the shift lever to the NEU-
TRAL position.

7. The vehicle may then be started in
NEUTRAL.
8. Reinstall the rubber tray in the
storage bin.
MANUAL PARK
RELEASE — 8 SPEED
TRANSMISSION (3.6L
Engine)WARNING!
Always secure your vehicle by fully
applying the parking brake, before
activating the Manual Park Release.
Activating the Manual Park Release
will allow your vehicle to roll away if
it is not secured by the parking
brake or by proper connection to a
tow vehicle. Activating the Manual
Park Release on an unsecured ve-
hicle could lead to serious injury or
death for those in or around the ve-
hicle.
In order to push or tow the vehicle in
cases where the transmission will not
shift out of PARK (such as a dead
battery), a Manual Park Release is
available. Follow these steps to use the Manual
Park Release:
NOTE:
To prevent the vehicle from rolling
unintentionally, firmly apply the
parking brake.
1. Remove the console storage bin to
access the Manual Park Release lever.
2. Using a small screwdriver or simi-
lar tool, fish the tether strap up
through the opening in the console
base.
3. Insert the screwdriver into the slot
in the center of the lever, and disen-
gage the spring steel lever locking tab
by pushing it to the right.
4. While holding the locking tab in
the disengaged position, pull the
tether strap to rotate the lever up and
rearward, until it locks in place in the
vertical position. The vehicle is now
out of PARK and can be towed. Re-
lease the parking brake only when the
vehicle is securely connected to a tow
vehicle.

Check tire condition/wear and adjust pressure, if neces-
sary.        
Check operation of lighting system (headlamps, direction
indicators, hazard warning lights, luggage compartment,
passenger compartment, glove compartment, instrument
panel warning lights, etc.).        
Check operation of windscreen washer system and adjust
jets if necessary.        
Check windshield/rear window wiper blade position/
wear.        
Check cleanliness of hood and tailgate locks and cleanli-
ness and lubrication of linkages.        
Visually inspect condition of: exterior bodywork, under-
body protection, pipes and hoses (exhaust - fuel system -
brakes), rubber elements (boots, sleeves, bushes, etc.).        
Check conditions and wear of front disc brake pads.        
Check conditions and wear of rear disc brake pads.        
Check and, if necessary, top up fluid levels (brakes, wind-
shield washer, battery, engine coolant, etc.).        
Visually inspect the condition of accessory drive belt/s. 
Adjust parking brake shoes as necessary. 
Check exhaust gas emissions.        
Check engine management system operation (via diag-
nostic socket).
