The ECON mode helps you improve your fuel
economy by changing the engine, transmission,
climate control system, cruise control, and IMA
system performances.
While in the ECON mode, the climate control system
has greater temperature fluctuations.

uuWhen DrivinguCruise Control
Driving
Cruise Control
Maintains a constant vehicle speed without having to keep your foot on the
accelerator. Use cruise control on freeways or open roads where you can travel at a
constant speed with little acceleration or deceleration.
1Cruise Control
It may not be possible to maintain a constant speed
when driving uphill or downhill.
When not using cruise control:
Turn off cruise control by pressing the CRUISE button.
While in the ECON mode, it may take relatively more
time to accelera te to maintain the set speed.
While the cruise control system is activated, the shift
up or down indicator does not work.
3WARNING
Improper use of the cruise control can lead
to a crash.
Use the cruise control only when traveling
on open highways in good weather.

■ Press the CRUISE button
on the steering wheel. CRUISE MAIN is on in the
instrument panel.
Cruise control is ready to use.
How to use
■ Vehicle speed for cruise control:
Desired speed in a range above
roughly 25 mph (40 km/h) ~ Always keep sufficient distance between
you and the vehicle in front of you.

uuWhen DrivinguTPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Driving
TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)Monitors the tire pressure while you are
driving. If your vehicle’s tire pressure becomes
significantly low, the low tire pressure/TPMS indicator comes on and a message appears on the multi-information display.
CHECK TIRE PRESSURE is displayed when a
tire has significantly low pressure.
U.S. models only
1TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Conditions such as low ambient temperature and
altitude change di rectly affect tire pressure and can
trigger the low tire pr essure/TPMS indicator to come
on.

Comes On or Blinks P. 303
Tire pressure checked and inflated in: • Warm weather can become under-inflated in
colder weather.
• Cold weather can become over-inflated in warmer
weather.
The low tire pressure/TP MS indicator will not come
on as a result of over inflation.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) - Required
Federal Explanation
Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure
recommended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard
or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated
on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should
determine the proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)
As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with
a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale
when one or more of your tire s is significantly under-inflated.
Accordingly, when the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you
should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate
them to the proper pressure.
Driving on a significantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Un der-inflation also reduces
fuel efficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the vehicle's handling an d stopping ability.

Auto Idle Stop
To help maximize fuel economy, Auto Idle Stop shuts off the engine when the
vehicle comes to a stop, depending on environmental and vehicle operating
conditions. The AUTO STOP indicator blinks at this time. The engine then restarts once the vehicle is
about to move again, and the indicator goes off.
If the driver’s door is opened while the
indicator is blinking, a buzzer sounds to notify
you that the Auto Idle Stop function is in operation.
Automatic transmission (CVT) models
1Auto Idle Stop
The duration of the Auto Idle Stop operation:
• Increases in the ECON mode, compared to normal
or sport mode, with climate control in use.
• Decreases if you operate the wipers and climate
control simultaneously.

The vehicle stops with the shift lever in (D and the brake pedal depressed.
■ Auto idle stop does not activate when:
• The low temperature indicator is on.
• The IMA battery charge is low.
• The bars of the ASST/CHRG indicators do not move when accelerating or
decelerating.
• The transmission fluid temperature is low.
• The vehicle comes to a stop again before the vehicle speed reaches 9 mph
(15 km/h) after the engine starts.
• Stopped on a steep incline.
• The shift lever is in a position other than
(D or (N .
• Airflow from the climate control system increases. (Except when in ECON mode)

■ Auto idle stop may not activate when:
• The climate control system is in use, and there is a significant difference between
the set temperature and the actual interior temperature. (Except when in ECON mode).
• When humidity in the interior is high.
• The vehicle is stopped by braking suddenly.
■Auto Idle Stop Activates When:1Auto Idle Stop Activates When:

Auto Idle Stop
To help maximize fuel economy, the engine automatically stops when the vehicle
comes to a stop, depending on environmental and vehicle operating conditions. The
AUTO STOP indicator blinks at this time. The engine then restarts once the vehicle is
about to move again when you depress the clutch pedal fully, and the indicator goes
off.
If the driver’s door is opened while the

1Auto Idle Stop
If the Auto Idle Stop operating time lasts long enough
to lower the 12 volt battery charge or the IMA battery charge, the engine may not restart automatically.
Manually turn off the engine when you leave your
vehicle.

or sport mode, with climate control in use.
• Decreases if you operate the wipers and climate
