Running out of fuel
(Diesel)
On vehicle fitted with HDi engines, the fuelsystem must be primed if you run out of fuel; refer to the engine compar tment view on the "Diesel engine" page.
1.6 litre HDi engine
)
Fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of
diesel. )
Open the bonnet. )
If necessary, unclip the styling cover for
access to the priming pump. ) Squeeze and release the priming pump
repeatedly until resistance is felt (there may
be resistance at the first press). ) Operate the star ter until the engine starts(if the engine does not star t at the first
attempt, wait around 15 seconds before
trying again). ) If the engine does not star t after a few
attempts, operate the priming pump again
then start the engine. ) Clip the styling cover back in place. )
Close the bonnet.
If the tank on your vehicle is fitted witha misfuel prevention device, refer to the section "Access - § Misfuel prevention(Diesel)".

)Fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of
Diesel. )Open the bonnet. )If necessary, unclip the style cover for access to the priming pump. )Slacken the bleed screw. )Squeeze and release the priming pump repeatedly until fuel appears in the
transparent pipe.
)Tighten the bleed screw. )Operate the star ter until the engine star ts (if the engine fails to star t at the first attempt, wait around 15 seconds before
trying again). )If the engine fails to star t after severalattempts, operate the priming pump again,
then the starter. )Put the style cover back in position andclip it in place, ensuring that it has clippedcorrectly. )Close the bonnet.
If the engine does not star t first time, don't keep trying. Star t the procedureagain from the beginning.

To p p i ng up
The reser voir must be topped up without delay
by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil or fluids with the skin.
Most of these fluids are harmful tohealth or indeed very corrosive.
Do not discard used oil or fluids into sewers or onto the ground.
Take used oil to a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop (France) or to anauthorised waste disposal site.
)Open the bonnet and secure it withthe stay. )Open the screenwash reservoir filler cap. )Take and pinch the level gauge to block its breather. )Remove the gauge completely from
the reservoir to read the level in the
transparent section. )Top up if necessary. )Refit the filler cap to the reser voir and close the bonnet.
Specifi cation of the fl uid
To ensure optimum cleaning and to avoid
freezing, the fluid should never be topped up or
replaced by plain water. Accordin
g to your version of instrument panel,
the additive reser voir low level is indicated by:
-fixed illumination of the particle emissions filter warning lamp, accompanied by an audible signal anda message that the particle emissionsfilter additive level is too low,
or
- fix
ed illumination of the servicewarning lamp, accompanied by
an au
dible signal and a message
that the par ticle emissions filter additive level is too low.

Par ticle emission filter (Diesel)
On a new vehicle, the first operations of regeneration of the par ticle emissions filter may be accompanied by the smell of "burning", w hic h is per fec t ly normal.Following prolonged operation of the vehicle at very low speed or at idle, you may, in exceptional circumstances, notice the emission of water vapour at the exhaust on acceleration. This doesnot affect the behaviour of the vehicleor the environment.
Manual gearbox
The gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the ser vicing booklet for the
details of the level checking interval for this component.
According to your version of instrument panel, the start of
saturation of the par ticle emissions filter is indicated by:

As soon as the traffic conditions permit,
regenerate the filter by driving at a speed of at
least 40 mph (60 km/h) until the warning lamp goes off.
If the warning lamp stays on, refer to the
"Additive level" section.
Automatic gearbox
The gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).

The wei
ght of the braked trailer can be increased, within the GTW limit, if the GV W of the towing vehicle is reduced by an equal amount. Warning:
towing using a lightly loaded towing vehicle may have an adverse effect on its road holding.
The
GTW and towed load values indicated are valid up to a maximum altitude of 1 000 metres; the towed load mentioned must be reduced by 10 % for each additional 1 000 metres of altitude.
The speed of a towing vehicle must not exceed 60 mph (10 0 km/h) (comply with the legislation in force in your country).
High ambient temperatures may result in a reduction in the performance of the vehicle to protect the engine; if the ambient temperature is above 37 °C,
limit the towed load.
