Handling the Unexpected
Inspecting and Changing Fuses
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK 0*1. Turn
headlights and all accessories off.
2. Remove the fuse box cover.
3. Check the large fuse in the engine
compartment.
u If the fuse is blown, use a Phillips-head
screwdriver to remo ve the screw and
replace it with a new one.
4. Inspect the small fuses in the engine
compartment and the vehicle interior.
u If there is a burned out fuse, remove it
with the fuse puller an d replace it with a
new one.
*1: Models with the keyless access system have an ENGINE START/STOP button

NOTICEReplacing a fuse with one that has a higher rating
greatly increases the chances of damaging the
electrical system.
Replace fuse with a spare fuse of the same specified
amperage.
Use the charts to locate the fuse in question and
confirm the specified ampe rage on the fuse label.

Emergency Towing
Call a professional towing service if you need to tow your vehicle.
■Flat bed equipment
The operator loads your vehicle on the back of a truck.
This is the only way you can safely to transport your vehicle.
For very short distances, su ch as freeing the vehicle, you can use the detachable
towing hook that mounts on the anchors in the front and rear bumpers. 1.Put cloth on the edge of the cover.
Carefully pry with a small flat-tip
screwdriver or a metal fingernail file to
remove the cover.
The cover is attached to the bumper with a
tether.

NOTICETrying to lift or tow your vehicle by the bumpers will
cause serious damage. The bumpers are not designed
to support the vehicle’s weight.
NOTICEImproper towing such as towing behind a
motorhome or other motor vehicle can damage the
transmission.
Never tow your vehicle with just a rope or chain.
It is very dangerous, since ropes or chains may shift
from side to side or break.

NOTICETo avoid damage to your vehicle, use the towing
hook for straight, flat ground towing only. Do not
tow at an angle. The hook should not be used to tow
the vehicle onto a flat bed. Do not use it as a tie
down.

2.Remove the towing hook and wheel
wrench placed behind a cover under the
cargo area.
3. Screw the towing hook into the hole, and
tighten it with th e wheel nut wrench.

When You Cannot Unlock the Fuel Fill Door
If you cannot unlock the fuel fill door, use the following procedure.1.Open the tailgate and remove the cover.
2. Pull the release lever towards you.
u The release lever unlocks the fuel fill door
when it is pulled.

After taking these steps, contact a dealer to have the
vehicle checked.

When You Cannot Open or Close the Tailgate
If you cannot open or close the tailgate, use the following procedure.
1.Use a flat-tip screwdriver and remove the
cover on the back of the tailgate.
2. To open the tailgate, push the tailgate
while pushing the lever to the right.

What to do-Following up
After taking these steps, contact a dealer to have the
vehicle checked.
When you open the tailgate from inside, make sure
there is enough space ar ound the tailgate, and it
does not hit anyone or any object.
