Removal and InstallationINFOID:0000000005930927
REMOVAL
1. Push the tabs (A) of both ends of the air cleaner cover (1) into
the inside (B).
2. Pull up the air cleaner cover (1) and remove it (C).
3. Remove air cleaner filter (1) and holder (2) assembly from the air cleaner case.
4. Remove the air cleaner filter (1) from the holder (2).
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
It is necessary to replace the air cleaner filter at the recommended intervals, more often under dusty driving
conditions. Refer to MA-9, "
Introduction of Periodic Maintenance".
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
• Install the air cleaner cover (1) in the direction shown.
• Air cleaner filter (2)

REMOVAL
1. Remove intake manifold. Refer to EM-27, "Removal and Installation".
2. Remove ignition coil. Refer to EM-46, "
Removal and Installation".
3. Remove spark plug with a suitable tool.
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
CAUTION:
• Never drop or shock spark plug.
• Never use a wire brush for cleaning.
• If plug tip is covered with car bon, spark plug cleaner may be
used.

REMOVAL
1. Remove the battery. Refer to
SC-7, "Removal and Installation".
2. Remove the air duct (front).
3. Remove the air cleaner filter from the air cleaner case. Refer to EM-16, "
Removal and Installation".
4. Remove the air duct (inlet) from the air cleaner case.
5. Remove the PCV hose.
6. Remove the air duct. • Add marks as necessary for easier installation.
7. Disconnect harness connector from mass air flow sensor.
8. Remove air cleaner case.
9. Remove the mass air flow sensor from the air cleaner case, if necessary. CAUTION:
• Handle mass air flow sensor carefully and avoid impacts.
• Never touch sensor part.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Inspect air ducts and air cleaner assembly for crack or tear.
• If anything found, replace air ducts and air cleaner assembly as necessary.

REMOVAL
1. Remove the air duct (inlet) and air duct (between air
cleaner case and electric throttle control actuator).
Refer to EM-25, "
Exploded View".
2. Remove the reservoir tank. Refer to CO-16, "
Component".
3. Remove the oil level gauge. CAUTION:
Cover the oil level gauge guide openings to avoid entry of foreign materials.
4. Remove electric throttle control actuator and position aside. CAUTION:
• Handle electric throttle control act uator carefully and avoid impacts.
• Never disassemble or adjust elect ric throttle control actuator.
5. Disconnect the harness connector and EV AP hose from the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid
valve.
6. Disconnect vacuum hose for brake booster from intake manifold.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD
1. Tighten exhaust manifold nuts to specification in two stages in
the numerical order shown.
2. Use Tool (A) to install the air fuel ratio sensor 1. CAUTION:
• Handle it carefully and avoid impacts.
• Before installing a new air fu el ratio sensor 1, clean the
exhaust tube threads using suitable tool and approved
anti-seize lubricant.
• Do not over-tighten the air fu el ratio sensor 1. Doing so
may damage the air fuel ratio sensor 1, resulting in the
MIL coming on.

REMOVAL
WARNING:
• Be careful not to burn yourself, as the engine oil is hot.
• Prolonged and repeated
contact with used engine oil may cau se skin cancer; try to avoid direct skin
contact with used oil. If skin contact is made, w ash thoroughly with soap or hand cleaner as soon as
possible.
1. Drain engine oil. Refer to LU-8, "
Draining".
2. Remove the oil pan (lower) with the following procedure.

IGNITION COIL, SPARK PLUG AND ROCKER COVER

3. Remove spark plug using suitable tool.
CAUTION:
Never drop or shock it.
4. Remove ground cable (RH).
5. Support the bottom surface of engine using a trans mission jack, and then remove the engine mounting
bracket and insulator (RH). Refer to EM-82, "
Exploded View".
6. Remove fuel tube protector.
7. Disconnect PCV valve hose from PCV valve.
8. Remove oil filler cap.
9. Remove rocker cover. • Loosen bolts in reverse order shown.
NOTE:
13 and 14 shown are used to tighten the fuel tube protector.
10. Remove rocker cover gasket from rocker cover.
11. Use scraper to remove all traces of liquid gasket from cylinder head and front cover.
CAUTION:
Never scratch or damage the mating surface when cleaning off old liquid gasket.
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
CAUTION:
• Never drop or shock spark plug.
• Checking and adjusting spar k plug gap is not required
between change intervals.
• If spark plug tip is covered with carbon, a spark plug cleaner may be used.
