Engine (Ignition) Switch
nStarting the engine
Make sure the parking brake is set and the shift
lever is in P.
Depress the brake pedal.
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch indi-
cator light turns green.
Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch.
nStopping the engine
Set the parking brake and shift the shift lever to P.
Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch.
To change the “ENGINE START STOP” switch mode without turning on the engine, press
the “ENGINE START STOP” switch without depressing the brake pedal. The mode can be
changed in the following order:
With the electronic key on your person, the engine can be started by simply pressing the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch, while depressing the brake pedal.
(The mechanical key cannot be used to start the engine.)
If the shift lever is in a position other than P when turning off the engine, the “ENGINE
START STOP” switch will be turned to ACCESSORY mode, not to OFF. To avoid unex-
pected battery discharge, make sure the lever is in the P poistion when stopping the engine.

If the electronic key does not operate
properly
nUnlocking and locking the doors
To unlock or lock the vehicle, use the mechanical
key. (driver's door only) The mechanical key is
stored inside the electronic key.

nStarting the engine
Depress the brake pedal.
Touch the Lexus emblem side of the electronic
key to the “ENGINE START STOP” switch.
Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
within 10 seconds of the buzzer, keeping the
brake pedal depressed.

If the electronic key battery becomes depleted, replace it with a new battery. For instruc-

Before driving
Using the mechanical key
To take out the mechanical key:
Electronic keys: Slide the release
lever and take the key out.
Card key: Press the lock release
button and take the key out.
If the key cannot be inserted in a
lock cylinder, turn it over and re-
attempt to insert it. Mechanical
keys with grooves on one side can
be inserted in one direction only.
After using the mechanical key,
store it in the electronic key. Carry
the mechanical key together with
the electronic key. If the electronic
key battery is depleted or the entry
function does not operate properly,
you will need the mechanical key.

nCard key
lThe mechanical key that is stored inside the card key should be used only if a
problem arises, such as when the key does not operate properly.
lIf it is difficult to take out the mechanical key, press down the lock release button
using a pen tip etc. If it is still difficult to pull it out, use a coin etc.
lTo store the mechanical key in the card
key, insert it while pressing the lock
release button.
