Push the backrest towards the rear
and engage it on mounting B .
T a k e c a r e n o t t o t r a p t h e s e a t b e l t s ,
i n p a r t i c u l a r b e t w e e n t h e s e a t b a c k
and the mounting B.
Check that the backrest has engaged
correctly. Rear head restraints *
The rear head restraints can be re-
moved and have two positions:
- high, position for use.
- low, storage position.
To raise the head restraint, pull it up-
wards.
To lower it, press lug
A then the head
restraint.
To remove it:
- tilt the seat back slightly,
- move the head restraint to the high position,
- press lug A pulling the head
restraint upwards at the same time.
T o r e fi t i t :
- tilt the seat back slightly,
- engage the rods of the head restraint in the openings.
To reach the low position, press lug A .
F o l d i n g t h e b a c k r e s t o f
the bench seat
The seat backrest is folded from
the rear of the vehicle, with the boot
open:
- check that the seat belt is
positioned correctly on the
side of the seat back to avoid
damaging it,
- place the head restraints in the low position (see "rear head
restraints"),
- while folding the seat backrest, pull the strap(s) A , located
behind the seat back.

ACCESS ELECTRIC WINDOWS
The driver and front passenger each
have an electric window.
After the ignition has been switched
on, press or pull control 1 . The window
stops when you release the control.
Always remove the key from
the ignition when leaving
the vehicle, even for a short
time.
The driver must ensure that the front
passenger uses their electric window
correctly.
Be aware of children when operating
the windows.
DOORS
Driver's door open
If the driver's door is open,
the courtesy lamp remains
on if the button is in this
position.
Locking/unlocking a door
from the inside
Normal locking/unlocking: the
doors lock/unlock independently.
To lock/unlock a door, press/pull
button A .
Central locking/unlocking: the
doors and tailgate are locked/
unlocked simultaneously.
To lock/unlock the vehicle, press/pull
button A on the driver's door.
For the other doors, carry out the
same operation as for normal locking/
unlocking. Child lock
This prevents the opening of either of
the rear doors from the inside.
Push control
1 towards the outside of
the vehicle.
Check the status of this safety device before switching on
the ignition.
This system is independent
of the central locking.
Always remove the key from the ignition
when leaving the vehicle.
Operating the handle does
not unlock the door, pull
button A to unlock.

2. Spare wheel/Additional storage compartments
Located under the carpet and a
plastic cover, this contains the tools
for wheel changing and towing.
There are two shelf storage options:
- either behind the rear seats,
- o r fl a t i n t h e b o o t .
1. Rear parcel shelf
To remove the shelf:
- u n h o o k t h e s h e l f f r o m i t s fi x i n g
A ,
- pull upwards on each side to d e t a c h i t f r o m i t s fi x i n g s ,
- raise then tilt the shelf slightly to remove it. In order to obtain additional
space, the spare wheel can be
removed temporarily (boot tray
available as an accessory).

When the driver's door is opened with the ignition off, a continuous audible
signal is heard if you have left your
lighting on. Rear foglamp
With the dipped head-
lamps on, selection is
by rotation of ring B for-
wards to switch on and
rearwards to switch off.
The status is displayed by the indicator
lamp in the instrument panel.
In clear weather or in rain,
both day and night, the rear
foglamp is dazzling and its
use is prohibited.
Direction indicators
(flashers)
Left: stalk downwards.
Right: stalk upwards.
Headlamp flash
Pull the stalk fully towards you.
Front and rear lamps
Selection is by rotation of ring
A . Switching to sidelamps does
not switch off the rear fo-
glamp if it is on.
Do not forget to switch them off when
they are no longer needed.

WINDSCREEN WIPER STALK
When using a car wash,
switch off the ignition and
ensure that the wiper blade
is in the low position. Windscreen wash
Pull the wipers stalk towards you.
Rear wiper and wash-wipe
Turn ring
A to "ON" for a steady wipe.
Turn it forwards to trigger
the wash during wiping. Rear wash
Ring
A at "OFF" (wiper off).
Turn it towards you to trigger
a wash operation.
Windscreen wiper
MIST Single wipe.
For a single wipe of the windscreen, push the control
upwards then release it.
OFF Off.
INT Intermittent wipe.
LO Normal wipe (moderate rain).
HI Fast wipe (heavy rain).
In winter, you are advised to wait until
the windscreen has been defrosted
fully before operating the windscreen
wiper stalk.

When the vehicle is being driv-
en, illumination of this warning
lamp indicates that the parking
brake is still on or has not been
properly released.
When parking on a slope,
direct your wheels towards
the pavement and pull the
parking brake
on
.
PARKING BRAKE
Applying
Pull the parking brake to immobilise
your vehicle.
When changing wheels
(tyres), make sure that these
are approved.
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
Releasing
Pull on the handle and press the button
to release the parking brake.

EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE
The ABS, in conjunction with the EBFD and CSC * braking systems, increases
the stability and manoeuvrability of
your vehicle on braking and provides
improved control, in particular on poor
or slippery road surfaces.
The ABS prevents wheel lock in the
event of emergency braking.
The EBFD and CSC * systems pro-
vide full control of the braking pres-
sure wheel by wheel. A distribution
between:
- the front and the rear in the case of the EBFD (Electronic Brake
Force Distribution),
- the left and the right in the case of the CSC * (Cornering Stability
Control).
In an emergency, this system enables you to reach the optimum braking
pressure more quickly and therefore
reduce the stopping distance.
It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is pressed. This is
felt by a reduction in the resistance
of the pedal and an increase in the
effectiveness of the braking.

AIRBAGS
FRONT AIRBAGS
Front airbag fault
Flashing indicates an airbag fault, contact a CITROËN
d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k -
shop to have the system
checked. The airbags may
no longer be deployed in the event of
a serious impact.
Note: the gas escaping from
the airbags can be a minor
irritant.
Immediately after the impact, the air-
b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y s o t h a t t h e y d o
not hinder the visibility of the occu-
pants nor their exit if necessary from
the vehicle. The air bags are not de-
ployed in the case of minor impacts,
rear impacts or in certain roll-over
c o n d i t i o n s . T h e s e a t b e l t i s s u f fi c i e n t
to ensure maximum protection in
these situations. The seriousness of
a collision depends on the nature of
the obstacle and the speed of the ve-
hicle at the moment of the collision.
Airbags only operate when the igni-tion is switched on. When they are
deployed, a noise is heard during
i n fl a t i o n .
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone.
The airbags have been designed to
maximise the safety of the occupants
in the event of serious collisions. They
work in conjunction with the force-
limiting seat belts. The electronic
detectors register and analyse any
abrupt deceleration of the vehicle in
the impact detection zones (see dia-
gram): if the deployment threshold is
r e a c h e d , t h e a i r b a g s i n fl a t e i n s t a n t l y
and protect the occupants of the ve-
hicle.
T h e s e a r e fi t t e d i n t h e c e n t r e o f t h e s t e e r -
ing wheel for the driver and in the dash-
board for the front passenger. They are
deployed simultaneously, except in cases
where the passenger's airbag is deacti-
vated, in the event of a serious front im-
pact applied in the impact zone
A in the
longitudinal centreline of the vehicle, on
a horizontal plane and from the front of
the vehicle towards the rear. The airbag
i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f t h e
vehicle and the dashboard to cushion his
forward movement. The airbags there-
fore limit the risk of injury to the head and
chest.
