From the inside
Unlock the side door using this handle
and open it, guiding the rearward
sliding to the point of resistance. Pass
this point to hold the door open.
Close the side door using the handle
to start the sliding and pass the point
of resistance. Then, use the shaped
recess at the top of the door pillar to
guide the door until it locks.
Do not use the grab handle to slide the
door.
SLIDING SIDE DOORS
From the outside
Pull the handle towards you then
towards the rear and open the side
door guiding the rearward sliding to
beyond the point of resistance to hold
it open.
A mechanical system prevents opening
of the left-hand side door when the fuel
fi l l e r fl a p i s o p e n . Good practice
Take care not to block the guide space
o n t h e fl o o r t o a l l o w t h e d o o r t o s l i d e
correctly.
If your vehicle is parked on a slope,
guide the sliding of the side door. In
fact, the door could open or close more
rapidly due to the slope of the ground
and could cause injury.
For safety and operation reasons, do
not drive with the sliding side doors
open.

FUEL GAUGE COOLANT TEMPERATURE
The needle is positioned before the
red zone: normal operation.
In arduous conditions of use or hot
climatic conditions, the needle may
move close to the red graduations.
What you should do if the needle
enters the red zone:
Reduce your speed or let the engine
run at idle.
What you should do if the warning
light comes on:
- stop immediately, switch off the ignition. The fan may continue to
operate for a certain time up to
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 1 0 m i n u t e s ,
- wait for the engine to cool down in order to check the coolant level and
top it up if necessary.
As the cooling system is pressurised,
follow this advice in order to avoid any
risk of scalding:
- wait at least one hour after switching off the engine before
carrying out any work,
- unscrew the cap by 1/4 turn to allow the pressure to drop,
- when the pressure has dropped, c h e c k t h e l e v e l o n t h e e x p a n s i o n
bottle,
-
if necessary, remove the cap to top up.
If the needle remains in the red
zone, have the system checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Refer to the "Levels" section of
chapter 6.
Refer to the "Fuel" section of
chapter 6.
The fuel level is tested each time the
key is turned to the "running" position.
The gauge is positioned on:

1: the fuel tank is full,

GEARBOX
5-speed - reverse gear gearbox
To change gear easily, always press
the clutch pedal fully.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedal:
- e n s u r e t h a t t h e m a t a n d i t s fi x i n g s o n t h e fl o o r a r e p o s i t i o n e d c o r r e c t l y ,
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n o t h e r .
When driving, avoid leaving your hand
o n t h e g e a r k n o b a s t h e f o r c e e x e r t e d ,
even if slight, may wear the internal
c o m p o n e n t s o f t h e g e a r b o x o v e r t i m e . To engage reverse gear, wait until the
vehicle is stationary then push the gear
lever to the right then down.
The lever should be moved slowly to
reduce the noise on engaging reverse
gear. In order to drive as fuel
e f fi c i e n t l y a s p o s s i b l e w i t h a
m a n u a l g e a r b o x , t h i s i n d i c a t o r
lamp indicates to the driver to
change up.
The driver remains responsible for
deciding whether or not to follow this
indication, since the indicator lamp
comes on without taking into account
t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d , t h e
a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y f a c t o r s .
The lighting of this indicator lamp
cannot be deactivated.
When reverse gear is engaged
and when changing down whilst
decelerating, the function is disabled.

Changing gear In situations of high engine speeds
(heavy acceleration), a change
up will not occur unless the driver
o p e r a t e s e l e c t r o n i c g e a r b o x s y s t e m
lever.
Manual mode
Changing to manual mode
Move the gear lever to M .
Automatic mode
Changing to automatic
mode
Move the gear lever to A .
T h e g e a r b o x t h e n f u n c t i o n s i n
automatic mode, without any action on
your part.
It constantly selects the gear that is
best suited to the following conditions:
- driving style,
- r o a d p r o fi l e ,
- optimum fuel consumption. Pull on the "
+ " control
paddle to change up.
Pull on the " - " control
paddle to change down.
- If the vehicle stops or reduces s p e e d ( f o r e x a m p l e w h e n
approaching a stop sign),
t h e g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n
a u t o m a t i c a l l y , t o fi r s t g e a r i f
needed.
- It is not necessary to release the accelerator completely during gear
changes.
- A request to change gear is accepted only if the engine speed
permits it.
- For safety reasons, depending on the engine speed, a change down
may be performed automatically.

STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the
engine temporarily on standby - STOP
m o d e - d u r i n g s t o p s i n t h e t r a f fi c ( r e d
l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , o r o t h e r . . . ) . T h e
engine restarts automatically - START
mode - as soon as you want to move
off. The restart takes place instantly,
quickly and silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system reduces fuel consumption and
e x h a u s t e m i s s i o n s a s w e l l a s t h e n o i s e
level when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "ECO" warning lamp comes
on in the instrument panel and
the engine goes into standby:
- with a manual gearbox , at speeds
below 12 mph (20 km/h), when you
put the gear lever into neutral and
release the clutch pedal,
- with the 6-speed electronic
gearbox system , at a speed below
5 mph (8 km/h), when you press
the brake pedal or put the gear
lever into position N . I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h t h e s y s t e m ,
a time counter calculates the sum of
the periods in STOP mode during a
journey. It rests itself to zero every time
the ignition is switched on with the key.
W i t h t h e a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x
system, for your comfort during
parking maoeuvres, STOP mode
is not available for a few seconds after
coming out of reverse gear.
STOP mode does not affect the
functionality of the vehicle, such as
b r a k i n g , p o w e r s t e e r i n g , f o r e x a m p l e .
Never refuel with the engine in
STOP mode; you must switch off
the ignition with the key. Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
STOP mode is not invoked when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- t h e v e h i c l e h a s n o t e x c e e d e d 6 m p h
(10 km/h) since the last engine start
using the key,
- the parking brake is applied or being applied,
- the engine is needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the
passenger compartment,
- demisting is active,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature,
braking assistance, ambient
temperature...) where the engine
is needed to assure control of a
system.
In this case, the "ECO"
w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r a
few seconds, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

Driving safely
"GRIP CONTROL" Correct use
Your vehicle is designed principally to
drive on tarmacked roads but it allows
you to drive on other less passable
terrain occasionally.
However, it does not permit all-terrain
a c t i v i t i e s s u c h a s :
- crossing and driving on terrain which
could damage the underframe or
s t r i p a w a y c o m p o n e n t s ( f u e l p i p e ,
fuel cooler, ...) due to obstacles or
stones in particular,
- driving on terrain with steep gradients and poor grip,
- crossing a stream.
When driving on snow, mud or sand,
this traction system is linked with all-
s e a s o n M + S ( M u d a n d S n o w ) t y r e s
which offer an excellent compromise
between safety, grip and traction.
This equipment allows you to
manoeuvre in most conditions
of poor grip. Pressing the accelerator pedal
s h o u l d b e s u f fi c i e n t s o t h a t t h e
power of the engine can ensure
optimum management of the various
parameters.
