& WARNING
Broken glass of automatic dimming mirror can cause electrolyte
fluid leakage. Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes, and respira­
tory system.
• Repeated or prolonged exposure to electrolyte can cause irrita ­
tion to the respiratory system, especially among people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Get fresh air immediately
by leaving the vehicle or, if that is not possible , open windows and
doors all the way.
• If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush them thoroughly with
large amounts of clean water for at least 15 minutes; medical
attention is recommended.
• If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minute s and then wash affected area with
soap and water; medical attention is recommended. Tho roughly
wash affected clothing and shoes before reuse.
• If swallowed and person is conscious, rinse mouth with water
for at least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed
to do so by medical professional. Get medical attention immedi­ ately .

(I) Tips
• If you switch off the automatic dimming function on the inside
mirror , automatic dimming of the outside mirrors will likewise be
disabled.
• Check to make sure there are no o bjects prevent ing lig ht from
reach ing the inside mirror.
• Do not attach any st ic kers to the w indshield in fro nt of t he lig ht
sensor, as thi s would interf ere with both the a utomatic operatio n of
the headlights a nd the automatic dimm ing of the inside mirror.•

Liquid electrolyte leaked from a broken mirror glass will damage any
plast ic surfaces it comes in contact with. Clean up spilled electro lyte
immediately with clear water and a sponge.

• Switching off the dimming function of the inside rearview
mirror also deactivates the automatic dimming function of the
exterior mirrors.
• Automatic dimming for the mirror only operates properly if the
light striking the inside mirror is not hindered by other objects. •

Activating or deactivating the compass
The direction is displayed on the interior rear view mirror.

- To activate or deactivate, hold the@button down until
the red display appears or disappears.
The digital compass only works with the ignition turned on. The direc­
tions are displayed as initials:
N (North), NE (Northeast), E (East), SE
(Southeast), S (South), SW (Southwest), W (West), NW (Northwest).

To avoid inaccurat e directions, do not allow any remote controls ,
electrical systems, or metal parts close to the mirror. •

Storing and recalling settings
Before you can store or recall your settings, the [ ON/OFF]
switch on the seat memory must be engaged (not raised).
Storing settings
- Adjust the driver's seat.
- Adjust the two exterior mirrors .
- Press the
I SETI button and hold it down. In addition, press
one of the memory buttons for at least one second .
- Release the buttons. The settings are now stored under
the corr esponding memory button .
Recalling settings
- If the driver's door is open, tap the corresponding memory
button briefly .
- If the driver's door is closed , press the appropriate
memory button unt il the stored position is reached .
Successful storage is confirmed audibly and by the light in the [SET)
button illuminat ing=> page 80, fig . 84.
When the vehicle is
loc ked , the current settings are stored and
ass igned to the remote contro l key. B ut the setti ngs sto red on
memory buttons 1 to 2 are not deleted. They can be reca lled at any
time. When the vehicle is
unlo ck ed , the settings stored on the
remote control key are restored.
If your vehicle is driven by other persons using your remote control
key , you should save your individua l seat position on one of the

memory buttons. You can recall your settings again simply and
conveniently by press ing the cor responding memory button. When
the vehicle is locked, these settings are automatically re-assigned to
the remote control key and stored.

Activating remote control key memory
To be able to recall the stored settings with the remote
control key, the function has to be activated in the radio
or in the MM!*.

remote key, switch
off the Memory function using the radio or the

& WARNING
• Improper reliance on the side assist system can cause collisions
and seriou s per sonal injury:
- Never rely only on side assist when changing lanes.
- Alway s check rear view mirrors to make sure that it is safe to
change lanes.
• Side assist cannot detect all vehicles under all condition s­
danger of accident!
• Side a ssist cannot detect vehicle s
in time to alert you when
they approach from behind at very high speed , or fall drop bac;k
very quickly .
• The radar sensor's
vision can be reduced o r entirely blocked by
rain, snow, and heavy spray . Thi s can result in side a ssist not
adequately detecting vehicles o r, in some cases , not detecting
them at all. Always keep an eye on the direction you are traveling
and the relevant area around the vehicle.
• Plea se note that side assi st indi cates there are approaching
veh icles, or vehicles in your blind spot, only after your vehicle has
reached a driving speed of at lea st 19 mph (30 km/h).
• Side assist signal does not work around tight corners (turning
radius le ss than 328 feet or 100 m).
• Side assist is no replacement for the driver's full attention. The
driver alone is respon sible for lane changes and similar driving
maneuvers. Always keep an eye on the direction you are traveling
and the relevant area around the vehicle .

objec ts (such as stic ke rs or b icycle racks) should not be attached to

Parking next to obstacles
When there is an obstacle (such as a wall) next to the park ing spot,
choose a spo t w ith more space on the s ides. Pos ition the long side of
the blue area so that there is sufficient space from the curb. The area
must not be on the curb . You will also need to star t turning the
steeri ng wheel much earlier. There sho uld be a suff icie nt amount of
space between the cu rb and t he b lue c urve, and the blue c urve
=> page 168, fig . 1 74 must not touch the curb .

• The rea r-view camera does not show the entire a rea behind the
vehicle =>
page 165, fig. 169. Watch out e speciall y for small chil·
dren and animals . The rear-view camer a cannot always dete ct
them , posing ri sk of an accident!
• Please note th at objects not touching the ground can appear to
be further away than they really are (for example, the bumper of
a park ed vehicle, a trailer hit ch, or the r ear of a truck). In this ca se,
you should not u se the help line s to help with pa rking , which
po se s danger of an accident!

sented depending on the steering wheel ang le. The vehicle front
sw ings ou t mo re than t he veh icle rea r. M ain tain plenty of d ista nce
from an obstacle so that your outside mirror or a corner of your
vehicle does not collide w ith any obstacles -dange r of a ccident!

Adjusting the display and warning tones
The display* and warning tones can be adjusted in the
radio or in the /11/111* .
- Select: [C A R]> Parking sy stem.
Display
• Off -when the parking system is switched off, only aud ible signals
are given.
• On -when the pa rking system is switched on, e ithe r the v isua l
display or the picture from the rearv iew camera is displayed .
Warning tones
• Front volume -front sensor vo lume
• Front frequ ency -front sensor frequency
• Rear volume -rear sensor vol ume
• Rear frequency -rear sensor freq uency
• In-car entertainm ent f ader · when the parking system is switched
on, the volume of the active a udio source is lowered .
