• You are well advised not to keep valuables inside an unattended
vehicle, v isible or not . Even a properly locked vehicle cannot provide
the security of a safe! •

To unlock the vehicle doors and rear lid !TI
- Press button @once to unlock d river' door.
- Press button @twice to unlock all doors and the rear lid.
To lock the vehicle doors and rear lid iTI
- Press button ®~ & in "General description" on
page 40.
-Watch that all turn signal lights flash once.
To open rear lid only?:$
-Press button © for approximately one second .
PANIC Button
-Push the red button @to activate the panic function. The
horn sounds and the turn signals flash.
- Push the button @ again to deactivate the panic function.
The remote contro ls allows you to:
• lock or unlock the vehicle
• selective ly unlock the rear lid.
Th e turn signa ls will flash briefly whenever you lock or unlock the
vehicle. Also, the interior light will come on or go off whenever you
open or close the driver's door.
The transmitter and battery are located in the head of the remote
control. The receiver is located inside the vehicle. The maximum
effect ive range depends on several things. Remember, if the battery
is weak, the effective range decreases.
Th e remo te-control key contains a fold-out key that you can use to
manually lock or unlock the vehicle and to start the engine.
If you need to replace the remote control, or if you need to have it
repaired, you must see your authorized Audi dealer . Only then can you
use the key again.

(I] Tips
• The remote contro l key is automatically deactivated when the
ignition is switched on .
• The operation of the remote control key can be tempora rily
disr upted by interference from transmitters in the vicinity of the
vehicle wo rking in the same frequency range (e.g. a cell phone, radio
equipment). _..

Controls
This overview will help you to familiarize yourself with the
air conditioning controls.

Th e d isp lay shows the temperature selected a nd the blowe r setting .
You can set the temperatu re for the driver's side us ing the left rota ry
switch @and the tempe rature for the passenger's s ide with the right
switch @.
Functions are turned on and off by touching the buttons . The diode in
t he b uttons illumina tes when the f unction is active .
The grille between the buttons
G / G and !AUTO I must remain
unobstructed ; there are measurement sensors beh ind it.
• Do not seal off the grille.
• Do not clean the gr ille with a vacuum cleaner, otherwise the
senso rs could be damaged .

Switching the air conditioner on /off [AC]
- P ress the [AC] button to switch the air cond itioner on or
off.
When the air condi tioner is switched on, the indicator light in the
bu tton is l it .
Whe n the air conditioner is swi tched off, the cooling system is
switched off -the heating and ventilation system is regu lated auto­
matically. Sw itching off the coo ling syst em (compressor) saves fuel. .,

Air recirculation [a:i ]
The air recirculation prevents exhaust fumes or other
pollution fr om entering the vehicle .
Switching air recirculation on

In the air recirculation mode, the air in the passenger compartment
is rec irculated to preven t exhaus t fu mes and othe r po llution from
enter ing the veh icle . We recommend that you use the manua l air
reci rcul atio n under the followi ng conditions:
• when driving through tunnels
• in a traffic jam.
& WARNING
Do not use thi s setting for extended periods of time . The window s
c ould fog up since no fresh air can enter the vehicle. If the
window s fog up, pre ss the air recir culation button again immedi­
ately to swit ch off the air recirculation function or select defrost .•
Adjusting the fan speed G G
The automati cally selected fan speed can be increased or
de creased.
- Press the (:) or G butto ns in t he center o f the con tro l
panel ~
page 97, fig. 10 1 to adjus t the fa n sp ee d to your
comfort .
The air condit ion ing system a utomat ically regulates t he fan speed in
response to the interior temperature . However, you can also adjust
the fan speed manua lly . A line of small ba rs in the cen ter display
above the fan contro l buttons w ill retreat or extend to reflect your
adjustments to the fan speed. •
Air distribution
The automatically controlled air distribution can be
changed manually .
You can use the l~I. l~I or l~ I buttons separate ly or together in
combination . To switch back to the automatic air distribut ion setting,
either sw itc h off the butto ns you previo usly se lected, or press
[AUTO I.
Each of the three buttons has its own specific f unct ion (the re ference

is pressed, the amo unt of air rem ain s the same.

All the air is directed to outlets @,@ and © in the i nstr ument
panel. Air also is directed throug h the center console in the rear.

Circu lar locator buttons on the rear seatback indicate the lower

Lower anchorages
The lower anchorage attachment points are located between the rear
seatback and rear seat cushion:::;, fig . 150.
Lower anchorages secure the child restraint in the seat without us ing
the vehicle's safety belts. Anchorages prov ide a secure and easy-to- use attachme
nt and minimize the possibility of improper child
restrain t installat ion.
All ch ild restraints manufactured after September 1, 2002, must
have lower anchorage attachments for the
LATCH system.
Remember that the lower anchorage points are only intended for
installat ion and attachment of ch ild restraints specifically certif ied
for use with
LATCH lower anchorages . Child restraints that are not
equ ipped with the lower anchorage attachments can st ill be installed
in compliance with the ch ild restraint manufact urer's instructions on
using vehicle safety belts .
& WARNING
Improper use of LATCH lower anchorages can cause serious
per sonal injury in an accident.
• Always carefully follow the child restraints manufacturer 's
instructions for proper installation of the child restraint and
proper use of the lower anchorages or safety belts in your vehicle.
• Never secure or attach any luggage or other items to the
LATCH
lower anchorages.
• Always read and heed the important information about child
restraints in this chapter and WARNINGS :::;,
