5. Air conditioning On/Off The air conditioning is de-
signed to operate effectively in
all seasons, with the windows
closed. The control button is located on
the heating or air conditioning
system control panel. REAR SCREEN DEMIST/
DEFROST
Switch off the demist/defrost of
the rear screen and door mir-
rors as soon as it is no longer
needed as lower current con-
sumption results in reduced
fuel consumption.
If the engine is switched off before the
demist/defrost is switched off auto-
matically, demist/defrost will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
The demist/defrost is deactivated
when the retractable roof is stored in
the boot.
S w i t c h i n g o n
The rear screen demist/defrost can only
operate when the engine is running.
Press this button to demist/defrost
the rear screen and the exterior mir-
rors. The indicator lamp associated
with the button comes on.
S w i t c h i n g o f f
The demist/defrost switches off auto-
matically to prevent an excessive con-
sumption of current.
It is possible to stop the demist/de-
frost operation before it is switched
off automatically by pressing the but-
ton again. The indicator lamp associ-
ated with the button switches off.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the
demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

Press the "A/C" button, the associ-
ated indicator lamp comes on.

FUEL TANK
Fuel tank capacity: approximately
50 litres (petrol) or 48 litres (Diesel).
O p e n i n g t h e fi l l e r c a p m a y c r e a t e a
noise a caused by an inrush of air. This
vacuum is entirely normal, resulting
from the sealing of the fuel system.
T o fi l l t h e t a n k i n c o m p l e t e s a f e t y :
the engine must be switched off,
o p e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p ,
insert the key in the cap, then turn it
to the left,
W h e n y o u h a v e fi l l e d t h e t a n k :
put the cap back in place,
turn the key to the right, then remove
it from the cap,
c l o s e t h e fl a p .
remove the cap and hook it onto
the clip located on the inside of the
fl a p ,
fi l l t h e t a n k , but do not continue
after the 3rd cut-off of the pump ;
this could cause malfunctions.
Low fuel level
When the fuel tank minimum
level is reached this warning
lamp comes on on the instru-
m e n t p a n e l . W h e n i t fi r s t c o m e s
on there remains approximate-
ly 5 litres of fuel in the tank.
You must refuel as soon as possible to
avoid running out of fuel.
If you run out of fuel (Diesel), refer also
to the "Checks" section.
Filling
A l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used depending on your engine.
Additions of fuel must be of at least
5 litres, in order to be taken into account
by the fuel gauge.

Quality of the fuel used for
petrol engines Quality of the fuel used for
Diesel engines
The petrol engines are perfectly com-
patible with E10 type petrol biofuels
(containing 10 % ethanol), conforming
to European standards EN 228 and
EN 15376.
E85 type fuels (containing up to 85 %
ethanol) are reserved exclusively for ve-
hicles marketed for the use of this type
of fuel (BioFlex vehicles). The quality of
the ethanol must comply with European
standard EN 15293.
For Brazil only, special vehicles are
marketed to run on fuels containing up
to 100 % ethanol (E100 type). The Diesel engines are perfectly com-
patible with biofuels which conform to
current and future European standards
(Diesel fuel which complies with stan-
dard EN 590 mixed with a biofuel which
complies with standard EN 14214)
available at the pumps (containing up
to 7 % Fatty Acid Methyl Ester).
The B30 biofuel can be used in cer-
tain Diesel engines; however, this use
is subject to strict application of the
special servicing conditions. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The use of any other type of (bio)fuel
(vegetable or animal oils, pure or dilut-
ed, domestic fuel...) is strictly prohibited
(risk of damage to the engine and fuel
system). MISFUEL PREVENTION
M e c h a n i c a l d e v i c e w h i c h p r e v e n t s fi l l -
ing the tank of a Diesel vehicle with
petrol. It avoids the risk of engine dam-
a g e t h a t c a n r e s u l t f r o m fi l l i n g w i t h t h e

GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR *
System which reduces fuel consump-
tion by advising the driver to change up
o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h a m a n u a l g e a r -
box.
Operation
The system intervenes only when driv-
ing economically.
Depending on the driving situation and
your vehicle's equipment, the system
may advise you to skip one or more
gears. You can follow this instruc-
tion without engaging the intermediate
gears.
The gear engagement recommenda-
tions must not be considered compulso-
r y . I n f a c t , t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d ,
t h e a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y r e m a i n
determining factors when choosing the
best gear. Therefore, the driver remains
responsible for deciding whether or not
to follow the advice given by the system.
This function cannot be deactivated. Example:
- You are in third gear.
- You press the accelerator pedal
moderately.
- The system may suggest that you engage a higher gear, if appropriate.
The information appears in the form
of an arrow on the instrument panel
screen.
Depending on your vehicle's equipment,
this arrow may be accompanied by the
recommended gear. In the case of driving which makes
particular demands on the perfor-
m a n c e o f t h e e n g i n e ( fi r m p r e s -
sure on the accelerator pedal, for
example, when overtaking...), the
system will not recommend a gear
change.
The system never suggests:
- e n g a g i n g fi r s t g e a r ,
- engaging reverse gear,
- engaging a lower gear.
