KEYS
Central locking and unlocking
From the front doors, the keys allow you
to lock and unlock the doors and boot.
If one of the doors is open, the central
locking does not work.
If the boot is open, the central locking
works.
Remote control
This carries out the same functions as
the key, from a distance. Locking

A to lock the vehicle.

There are four possible positions of the
key in the ignition switch:
1. STOP position:
the ignition is off.
2. 1 st
notch, Accessories position:
the ignition is off but the accessories can operate.
3. 2nd
notch, On position:
the ignition is on.
4. Starting position:
the starter is operated.
Avoid pressing the buttons of your
remote control out of range of your
vehicle as this could stop it from
working. The remote control would
then have to be reinitialised (refer
to the corresponding section).
A heavy object (key ring, etc.), at-
tached to the key and weighing
down on its shaft in the switch,
may cause a malfunction.

Make a careful note of the number of each key. This number is coded on the
label attached to the key.
Remote control
The high frequency remote control is a sensitive system; do not o perate
it while it is in your pocket as there is a possibility that i t may unlock the
vehicle, without you being aware of it.
Do not repeatedly press the buttons of your remote control out of range and
out of sight of your vehicle. You run the risk of stopping it from working and
the remote control would have to be reprogrammed.
The remote control does not operate when the key is in the ignition, even
w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d o f f , e x c e p t f o r r e i n i t i a l i s a t i o n . Do not throw the remote control bat-
teries away, they contain metals which
are harmful to the environment.
Take them to an approved collection
point.
Locking the vehicle

b y t h e e m e r g e n c y s e r v i c e s m o r e d i f fi c u l t i n a n e m e r g e n c y .
As a safety precaution (with children on board), remove the key fro m the
ignition when you leave the vehicle, even for a short time.
Anti-theft protection
D o n o t m a k e a n y m o d i fi c a t i o n s t o t h e e l e c t r o n i c e n g i n e i m m o b i l i s e r s y s t e m ,
this could cause malfunctions.
When purchasing a second-hand vehicle
Have the key codes memorised by a PEUGEOT dealer, to ensure that the
keys in your possession are the only ones which can start the vehicle .
Lost keys

ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, with the
key in the accessories position, certain
functions (windscreen wiper, courtesy
lamps, audio equipment, dipped beam
headlamps, etc.) can only be used for
a maximum cumulative duration of ap-
p r o x i m a t e l y fi f t e e n m i n u t e s , t o p r e v e n t
discharging of the battery.
O n c e t h e fi f t e e n m i n u t e s a r e o v e r , t h e
message "Economy mode active" ap-
pears on the multifunction screen and
the active functions are put on standby.
These functions will be reactivated au-
tomatically the next time the vehicle is
used.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
The time available will then be double
the time for which the engine is left run-
ning. However, this time will always be
b e t w e e n fi v e a n d fi f t e e n m i n u t e s .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n -
gine from starting.
TOWING THE VEHICLE
Procedure for having your vehicle towed.
Towing your vehicle
On the front bumper, unclip the cover
to gain access to the towing eye.
Switch on the hazard warning lamps
on the towed vehicle.
Place the gear lever in neutral. Towing another vehicle
Failure to comply with this special
requirement may result in damage
to certain braking components
and the absence of braking assis-
tance the next time the engine is
started.

COMPACT DISC MODE
Selecting CD mode
Ejecting a disc Selecting a track
Press button
J to select the next track.
Press button L to return to the start of
the current track or to select the previ-
ous track.
Accelerated play
Press and hold button J or L for for-
wards or backwards accelerated play.
Accelerated play stops as soon as the
button is released. Random play (RDM)
When the CD player is selected, press
button
N for two seconds. The tracks
will be played in random order. Pressing
button N again for two seconds returns
you to normal play.
The random play mode is switched
o f f e a c h t i m e t h e a u d i o e q u i p m e n t i s
switched off.
The use of copied compact discs
may cause malfunctions.
Insert circular compact discs only.
Press button
D to eject
the disc from the player.
After inserting a disc,
printed face uppermost,
the player starts auto-
matically.
If the player already contains a disc,
press button N .
