VENTILATION
System which creates and maintains
comfortable conditions in the vehicle's
passenger compartment.
Air paths
The incoming air follows various routes
depending on the controls selected by
the driver:
- direct arrival in the passenger com-partment (air intake),
- passage through a heating circuit (heating),
- passage through a cooling circuit (air conditioning). The temperature control enables you to
obtain the level of comfort required by
mixing the air of the various circuits.
The air distribution control enables you
to diffuse the air in the passenger com-
partment combining several air vents.
T h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l e n a b l e s y o u t o
increase or reduce the speed of the
ventilation blower.
The air circulating in the passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t i s fi l t e r e d a n d o r i g i n a t e s
either from the outside via the grille lo-
cated on the bonnet or from the inside
in air recirculation mode.
Control panel
The controls of this system are grouped
together on the centre console. De-
pending on the model, the functions
offered are:
- the level of comfort required,
- a i r fl o w ,
- air distribution,
- demisting and defrosting,
- manual or digital air conditioning
controls.
Air diffusion
1. Windscreen demisting/defrosting
vents.
2. Front side window demisting/de-
frosting vents.
3. Side adjustable air vents.
4. Central adjustable air vents.
5. Air outlets to the front footwells.
6. Lower air outlets (under the front

HEATING/VENTILATION
The heating and ventilation can only operate when the engine is running.
1. Temperature adjustment
Turn the control from blue (cold) to red
(hot) to adjust the temperature to suit
your requirements. Windscreen and side windows
(demisting/defrosting).
2. Air distribution adjustment
Windscreen, side windows and
footwells. Footwells.
Centre and side vents.
The air distribution can be adjusted by
placing the control in an intermediate

Turn the control from position 1
to position 4 to obtain an air
fl o w s u f fi c i e n t t o e n s u r e y o u r
comfort.
4. Air intake/Air recirculation
The recirculation of interior air prevents
exterior odours and smoke entering the
passenger compartment.
The intake of exterior air prevents and
eliminates misting of the windscreen
and side windows. Air intake.
Air recirculation.
Move the manual control 4 to the right for
t h e " I n t e r i o r a i r r e c i r c u l a t i o n " p o s i t i o n .
Move the manual control 4 to the left to
r e t u r n t o t h e " E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n
as soon as possible to prevent deteriora-
tion of the air quality.
These settings are recommended for
cold climates.
This setting is recommended for hot
climates.

MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING
The air conditioning system can only operate when the engine is running.
1. Temperature adjustment
Turn the dial from blue (cold) to red
(hot) to adjust the temperature to
suit your requirements.

The intake of exterior air prevents the
formation of condensation on the wind-
screen and side windows.
The recirculation of interior air prevents
exterior odours and smoke from enter-
ing the passenger compartment.
Used simultaneously with the air condi-
tioning, the air recirculation improves its
performance.
Used in a damp climate, the air recircu-
lation may cause condensation to form
on the windows.
Return to exterior air intake mode as soon
as possible to avoid deterioration of the
air quality and prevent condensation.
Move the manual control to

Turn the dial from position 1
to position 4 to obtain an

I f y o u p l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l i n p o s i -
tion OFF (deactivation of the system),
the temperature is no longer main-
tained at a comfortable level. How-
e v e r , a s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r , d u e t o t h e
movement of the vehicle, can still be
felt.

Demisting - defrosting
To quickly demist or defrost the wind-
screen and side windows:
place the air intake control 4 in the
" E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n ,
place the air distribution dial 3 in the
" W i n d s c r e e n " p o s i t i o n ,
place the temperature dial 1 and the air
fl o w d i a l 2 in the maximum position,
close the central vents,
switch on the air conditioning by
pressing the "A/C" button.
5. Air conditioning On/Off

Press the "A/C" button, the associ-
ated indicator lamp comes on.
The air conditioning does not operate
w h e n t h e a i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t d i a l 2 i s
in position "OFF".

Press the "A/C" button again, the
associated indicator lamp switches
off.
HEATED REAR SCREEN
S w i t c h i n g o n
The heated rear screen can only oper-
ate when the engine is running.
Press this button to demist/defrost the
rear screen. The indicator lamp asso-
ciated with the button comes on.
S w i t c h i n g o f f
The heated rear screen switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
It is possible to stop the demist-
ing/defrosting operation before it is
switched off automatically by press-
ing the button again. The indicator
lamp associated with the button
switches off.
If the engine is switched off before the
heated rear screen is switched off auto-
matically, demisting/defrosting will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
Switch off the heated rear screen as
soon as appropriate as lower cur-
rent consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption. The control button is located on
the air conditioning system con-
trol panel.
The air conditioning is designed
to operate effectively in all sea-
sons, with the windows closed.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

Demisting - defrosting

DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING

The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.
3. Automatic visibility programme
The automatic comfort programme may
n o t b e s u f fi c i e n t t o q u i c k l y d e m i s t o r d e -
frost the windscreen and side windows
(humidity, several passengers, ice...).
This system is designed to operate ef-
fectively in all seasons, with the win-
dows closed.
When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the
a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h i t s o p t i m u m l e v e l
gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the distribution
of warm air to the windscreen, the side
windows and the footwells only.
The air conditioning can only operate with the engine ru
nning.
Press the "AUTO" button.
The "AUTO" symbol is dis-
played.
Press the arrows 1 (up and
down) to change this value.
In this case, select the auto-
matic visibility programme.
We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic con-
trol of all of the functions, passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w , a i r
distribution and air recirculation, in ac-
cordance with the comfort value that
you have selected. The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g , t h e a i r fl o w a n d t h e a i r
intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
To exit this programme, press the
"AUTO" button again.
A setting around 21 provides an opti-
mum level of comfort. Depending on
your requirements, a setting between
18 and 24 is usual.
On entering the vehicle, if the interior
temperature is much colder or warmer
than the comfort value, there is no need
to alter the value displayed in order to
obtain the required level of comfort. The
system corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly as
possible.

Manual control
Depending on your requirements, you
can make a different selection from that
offered by the system by changing a
setting. The other functions will still be
controlled automatically.
Press the "AUTO" button to return
to fully automatic operation.

Deactivation of the system
Avoid prolonged operation in inte-
rior air recirculation mode (risk of
condensation and of deterioration
of the air quality).
Avoid driving for too long with the
air conditioning deactivated.
Press this button to switch
the air conditioning off. The
"ECO" symbol is displayed.
Press this button several
times in succession to direct
t h e a i r fl o w i n t u r n t o w a r d s :
Press the "-" button to
r e d u c e t h e a i r fl o w .
Press the "+" button
to increase the air
fl o w .
Press this button to recircu-
late the interior air. The air
recirculation symbol is dis-
played.
Press the "OFF" button.
This action deactivates all of the func-
tions of the air conditioning system.
The temperature is no longer main-
tained at a comfortable level. However,
a s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r , d u e t o t h e m o v e m e n t
of the vehicle, can still be felt.
Press the "OFF" , "AUTO" or "visi-
bility" button again to reactivate the
system with the values which were
set before it was deactivated.
Switching the system off may result in
some discomfort (humidity, condensa-
tion).
Press the button again to return
to automatic operation of the air
c o n d i t i o n i n g . T h e s y m b o l " A/C " i s
displayed.
- the windscreen and side windows (demisting or defrosting),

Choose this position for rapid cooling of
the passenger compartment.
As soon as possible, press this button
again to permit the intake of exterior
air and prevent condensation.

WINDOW CONTROLS
System which opens or closes a window
manually or automatically. Electric windows
Press or pull the switch. The window
stops as soon as the switch is re-
leased.
One-touch electric windows
There are two methods of operation:
- manual mode
Press or pull the switch gently.
The window stops as soon as the
switch is released.
- automatic mode
Press or pull the switch fully. The
window opens or closes complete-
ly when the switch is released.
Pressing the switch again stops
the movement of the window.
REAR QUARTER WINDOWS
On the 3-door versions, system for ven-
tilation of the rear seats limiting the par-
tial opening of the window.
Opening
Tilt the lever outwards.
Push the window to open it.
Closing
Pull the lever to close the window.
Tilt the lever fully inwards to secure
the window in the closed position.

The electric window switches re-
