MONITORING
Service indicator zero reset
Engine oil level indicator
After each service, the service indi-
cator must be reset to zero.
The procedure for resetting to zero
is as follows:
)
switch off the ignition,
)
press and hold the trip distance
recorder zero reset button,
)
switch on the ignition; the dis-
tance recorder display begins a
countdown,
)
when the display indicates "=0"
,
release the button; the spanner
disappears. System which informs the driver
whether the engine oil level is cor-
rect or not.
This information is displayed for a
few seconds when the ignition is
switched on, after the service infor-
mation.
The level read will only be correct if
the vehicle is on level ground and
the engine has been off for more
than 30 minutes.
Oil level correct
Oil level low
This is indicated by the fl ashing of
"OIL"
, accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function screen.
If the low oil level is confi rmed by a
check using the dipstick, it is essen-
tial that the level is topped up to pre-
vent damage to the engine.
Oil level gauge fault
This is indicated by the fl ashing of
"OIL--"
. Contact a CITROËN dealer
or a qualifi ed workshop.
Dipstick
Refer to the "Checks" section to lo-
cate the dipstick and the oil fi ller cap
on your engine.
There are 2 marks on
the dipstick:
- A
= max; never ex-
ceed this level (risk
of engine damage),
- B
= min; top up the
level via the oil fi ller,
using the type of oil
suited to your en-
gine.
Following this operation, if you wish
to disconnect the battery, lock the
vehicle and wait at least fi ve minutes
for the zero reset to be taken into ac-
count.

CHECKS
CHECKING LEVELS
Oil level
Oil specifi cation
The oil must be the correct grade
for your engine and conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations.
Brake fl uid level
Changing the fl uid
Refer to the servicing booklet for de-
tails of the interval for this operation.
Fluid specifi cation
The brake fl uid must conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations
and meet the DOT4 standard.
The check is carried out ei-
ther when the ignition is
switched on using the oil lev-
el indicator on the instrument
panel, or using the dipstick.
This manual check will only be cor-
rect if the vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off for more
than 30 minutes.
It is normal to top up the oil lev-
el between two services (or oil
changes). CITROËN recommends
that you check the level, and top
up if necessary, every 3 000 miles
(5 000 kms). The brake fl uid level should
be close to the "MAX" mark.
If it is not, check the brake
pad wear.
In order to maintain the re-
liability of the engine and
emission control system,
the use of additives in the engine
oil is prohibited.
Take care when working
under the bonnet, as cer-
tain areas of the engine
may be extremely hot (risk
of burns).
Power steering fl uid level
The power steering fl uid
level should be close to the
"MAX" mark. With the en-
gine cold, unscrew the cap
to check the level.
If a level drops signifi cantly, have
the corresponding system checked
by a CITROËN dealer or a qualifi ed
workshop.
Check all of these levels regularly
and top them up if necessary, unless
otherwise indicated.
Engine oil change
Refer to the servicing booklet for de-
tails of the interval for this operation. After topping up the oil, the check
when switching on the ignition with
the oil level indicator in the instru-
ment panel is not valid during the
30 minutes after topping up.
