correct closing of the windows.

Press the centre of the steering wheel.
HANDBRAKE
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise your
vehicle.
Check that the handbrake is applied
fi r m l y b e f o r e l e a v i n g t h e v e h i c l e . Releasing
Pull the handle and press the button to
lower the handbrake. HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
Press this button, the direction
i n d i c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off.
The hazard warning lights should only
be used in dangerous situations, when
stopping in an emergency or when
driving in unusual conditions.
When parking on a slope, direct your
wheels towards the pavement and pull
the handbrake.
There is no advantage in engaging
a gear after parking the vehicle,
particularly if the vehicle is loaded.
If the handbrake is still on or has
not been released properly, this is
indicated by this warning light which
comes on on the instrument panel.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lights
When braking in an emergency,
depending on the force of deceleration,
the hazard warning lights come
on automatically. They switch off
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t h e fi r s t t i m e y o u
accelerate.
It is also possible to switch them off by
pressing the button.

This ESP mode is calibrated
for a low level of skidding,
based on different conditions
of grip encountered on the
road.
When the ignition is switched off, the
system returns automatically to ESP
mode.
This ESP OFF mode is
o n l y s u i t a b l e f o r s p e c i fi c
conditions encountered when
moving off or at low speed.
T h i s m o d e i s a c t i v e u p t o 3 0 m p h ( 5 0 k m / h ) .
This snow mode allows the
vehicle to adapts its strategy
to the conditions of grip
encountered for each of the
two front wheels, on moving off.
When moving, the system optimises
the skidding to guarantee the best
acceleration possible in relation to the
grip available.
This all terrain m o d e ( m u d ,
wet grass...) allows, when
moving off, considerable
skidding on the wheel with
the least grip to favour
clearing of the mud and regain "grip".
At the same time, the wheel with the
most grip is controlled in such a way as
to pass as much torque as possible.
When moving, the system optimises
the skidding to respond to the driver's
requirements as fully as possible. This
sand mode allows little
skidding on the two driving
wheels at the same time to
allow the vehicle to move
forward and limit the risks of
getting stuck in the sand.
Do not use the other modes on sand
as the vehicle may become stuck.

EMERGENCY OR ASSISTANCE
CALL
This on-board technology system
allows you to make, depending on the
b u t t o n s e l e c t e d :
- an emergency call to locate your vehicle and immediately summon
emergency assistance,
- an assistance call, in the event of a breakdown, to the dedicated
CITROËN assistance services.
These services are subject to
conditions and availability. Consult a
CITROËN dealer. Emergency call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
emergency call button cancel the
request. The green warning lamp
goes out.
This call is operated by the CITROËN
Emergency platform, which receives
the information on the vehicle's location
and can then transmit all the information
necessary to the emergency services. Operating fault
When the ignition is switched on,
the green warning lamp lights up for
approximately 3 seconds to indicate
that the system is operational.
If the orange warning lamp lights up
a n d fl a s h e s w h e n s w i t c h i n g o n t h e
ignition or during use, there is a system
fault.
If the orange warning lamp remains lit,
the back-up battery needs replacing.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Assistance call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
assistance call button cancel the
r e q u e s t . A v o i c e m e s s a g e c o n fi r m s t h e
cancellation.
Press this button for more
than 2 seconds.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e g r e e n
warning lamp and a voice
m e s s a g e c o n fi r m t h a t a
call is being made to the CITROËN
Emergency platform.
The green warning lamp remains lit
( w i t h o u t fl a s h i n g ) w h e n c o m m u n i c a t i o n
is established. It goes out at the end of
the call. In the event of a vehicle
b r e a k d o w n :
Press this button for more
than 2 seconds.
A v o i c e m e s s a g e c o n fi r m s t h a t a c a l l i s
being made to the services.
In countries where such a platform is
not operational, or if the vehicle cannot
be located by the service, the call is
operated directly by the emergency
s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) .
In the event of a collision
detected by the airbags
computer, and regardless of
any deployment of the airbags,
the emergency call is made
automatically.

Seat belts
Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the passenger is less than 12 years old
o r s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y ,
- never allow a child to travel on your lap, even with the seat belt
fastened.
For further information regarding
child seats, refer to the "Children
on board" section of chapter 4.
Clean the seat belt straps with
soapy water or a textile cleaning
product, sold by CITROËN
dealers.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, your CITROËN dealer
guarantees all work or any checks,
from testing to maintenance, on your
seat belt equipment.
Have the seat belts checked regularly
( e v e n a f t e r a m i n o r i m p a c t ) b y a
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r : t h e y m u s t n o t s h o w
any signs of wear, cutting or fraying
and they must not be transformed or
m o d i fi e d .
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt against the body of the
occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is switched on.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a d e v i c e
which automatically locks the strap in
the event of a collision or emergency
braking or if the vehicle rolls over.
You can unfasten the seat belt by
pressing the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt after unfastening.
The airbag warning light comes on
if the pretensioners are triggered.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
In order to be effective, a seat belt
m u s t :
- restrain one person only,
- must not be twisted, check by
pulling in front of you with an even
movement,
- be tightened as close to the body as possible.
The upper part of the seat belt should
be positioned in the hollow of the
shoulder.
The lap part should be placed as low
as possible on the pelvis.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e c o m p l e t e l y .
I f t h e s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a r m r e s t s , t h e
lap part of the seat belt should always
pass under the armrest.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
c o r r e c t l y b y p u l l i n g t h e s t r a p fi r m l y . Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h
pretensioners and force limiters.
Rear seat belts
(5 seat version)
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h t h r e e -
point inertia reel seat belts.
