When to Add Engine Oil
(Except ZO6, ZR1, and Grand Sport)
If the oil is below the cross-hatched area at the tip
of the dipstick, add at least one liter/quart of the
recommended oil. This section explains what kind
of oil to use. For engine oil crankcase capacity,
see Capacities and Specifications on page 6‑108.

Do not add too much oil. If the engine
has so much oil that the oil level gets above the
cross-hatched area that shows the proper operating
range, the engine could be damaged.

Add enough oil to put the level somewhere in the proper
operating range. Push the dipstick all the way back in
when through.

cold engine dipstick readings. The engine oil level on
the dipstick will also be inaccurate if checked while the
engine is running. 1. To obtain an accurate engine oil level reading, warm up the engine to at least 80°C (175°F).
Cold oil will not give a correct oil level reading.
2. Once the engine is warm, turn off the engine. Checking the oil while the engine is running will
result in an incorrect oil level reading.
3. Wait at least five minutes (but not more than 20 minutes) to allow oil to drain and settle in the
engine.
4. Remove the dipstick from the external engine oil tank and clean it with a lint‐free paper towel or a
cloth. Re‐insert the dipstick into the external oil
tank, pushing it all the way in until it stops.
5. Remove the dipstick from the oil tank and read the level on the cross‐hatched area. Oil levels that fall
in the cross‐hatched area are normal.When to Add Engine Oil

recommended oil through the oil fill cap opening in the
oil tank. This section explains what kind of oil to use.

Tire Terminology and Definitions
Air Pressure:The amount of air inside the tire
pressing outward on each square inch of the tire.
Air pressure is expressed in pounds per square
inch (psi) or kilopascal (kPa).
Accessory Weight
:This means the combined
weight of optional accessories. Some examples of
optional accessories are, automatic transmission,
power steering, power brakes, power windows,
power seats, and air conditioning.
Aspect Ratio
:The relationship of a tire's height
to its width.
Belt
:A rubber coated layer of cords that is
located between the plies and the tread. Cords
may be made from steel or other reinforcing
materials.
Bead
:The tire bead contains steel wires wrapped
by steel cords that hold the tire onto the rim.
Bias Ply Tire
:A pneumatic tire in which the plies
are laid at alternate angles less than 90 degrees
to the centerline of the tread. Cold Tire Pressure
:The amount of air pressure
in a tire, measured in pounds per square inch (psi)
or kilopascals (kPa) before a tire has built up heat
from driving. See Inflation - Tire Pressure

Curb Weight
:The weight of a motor vehicle with
standard and optional equipment including the
maximum capacity of fuel, oil, and coolant, but
without passengers and cargo.
DOT Markings
:A code molded into the sidewall
of a tire signifying that the tire is in compliance
with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)
motor vehicle safety standards. The DOT code
includes the Tire Identification Number (TIN), an
alphanumeric designator which can also identify
the tire manufacturer, production plant, brand, and
date of production.
GVWR
:Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
