Deactivation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f i n t e n t i o n a l l y .
This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Passenger's
airbag system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front airbag
is deactivated.
In this case you can install a
"rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to activate the
p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g . I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t
a child seat in the rear-facing position.
The passenger's airbag system is put into
service automatically when the vehicle is started
( ON position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located at the
bottom right of the dashboard,
is pressed. Its indicator lamp
is on.
The ESP/ASR is deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR.
Its indicator lamp switches off.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
If it has been deactivated, the system is reactiva
ted
automatically from approximately 30 mph (50 km/h).

The air conditioning system
does not contain chlorine and
does not present any danger
to the ozone layer. Recommendations for ventilation and air conditioning
REAR VENTILATION ADJUSTMENT
After pressing the "REAR" button, turn
the adjustment dial of the rear side
v e n t s t o d e c r e a s e o r i n c r e a s e t h e fl o w
of air.
Take care not to obstruct the side vents
a n d t h e a i r o u t l e t s o n t h e fl o o r .
T o s h u t o f f t h e fl o w o f a i r , c l o s e t h e v e n t s
and set the dial to 0.
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the o
peration and mainte-
nance guidelines below:
If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been
p a r k e d i n t h e s u n f o r a c o n s i d e r a b l e t i m e , fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m -
partment for a few minutes.
P l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l t o p r o v i d e a n a d e q u a t e r e n e w a l
of air in the passenger compartment.
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the n ozzles, the vents
and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot.
Use in preference the intake of exterior air as prolonged use of the air
recirculation may cause misting of the windows and side windows.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard; this is used for
regulation of the automatic air conditioning system.
Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in perfect working order.

t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .

t o i t s s e c o n d s p e c i a l a c t i v e fi l t e r , i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n o f t h e a i r
breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of th e passenger compartment
(reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and gre asy deposits).
The air conditioning uses power from the engine w hile operating. This results
in an increase in the vehicle's fuel consumption.
When towing at or near maximum capacity or on steep slopes in h igh ambi-
ent temperatures, switching off the air conditioning saves eng ine power and
so improves towing capacity.
Condensation created by the air conditioning results in a d ischarge of water
under the vehicle when stationary, which is perfectly normal.
To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.

For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the
following safety rules:
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
occupants and the airbags (a child,
pet, object...). This could hamper the
operation of the airbags or injure the
occupants.
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag systems checked.
All work on the airbag system is strict-
ly forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e P E U G E O T
dealer network.
Even if all of the precautions mentioned
are observed, a risk of injury or of mi-
nor burns to the head, chest or arms
when an airbag is deployed cannot be
r u l e d o u t . T h e b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n -
stantly (within a few milliseconds) then
d e fl a t e s w i t h i n t h e s a m e t i m e d i s c h a r g -
ing the hot gas via openings provided
for this purpose. Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering
wheel by its spokes or resting your
hands on the centre part of the
wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet
on the dashboard.
If possible, do not smoke as deploy-
ment of the airbags can cause burns
or the risk of injury from a cigarette
or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering
wheel or hit it violently.
Lateral airbags
Use only approved covers on the
s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a -
tion of the lateral airbags. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e
seat backs (clothing...). This could
cause injury to the chest or arms if
the lateral airbag is deployed.
Do not sit with the upper part of the
body any nearer to the door than
necessary.
Curtain airbags
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e
roof. This could cause injury to the
head if the curtain airbag is de-
ployed.
Do not remove the grab handles in-
stalled on the roof, they play a part in
securing the curtain airbags.

Before installing other electrical
equipment or accessories on your
vehicle, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
CHANGING A FUSE
Procedure for replacing a failed fuse
with a new fuse to rectify a failure of the
corresponding function.
Access to the tools
T h e f u s e e x t r a c t i o n t w e e z e r i s fi t t e d
to the back of the dashboard fusebox
cover.
To gain access to it:
remove the cover completely,
remove the tweezer. Changing a fuse
Before changing a fuse, the cause of the
f a i l u r e m u s t b e i d e n t i fi e d a n d r e c t i fi e d .
Identify the failed fuse by checking
t h e c o n d i t i o n o f i t s fi l a m e n t .
Use the special tweezer to extract
the fuse from its housing.
Always replace the failed fuse with a
fuse of the same rating.
Check that the number marked on
the fusebox, the rating marked on
the fuse and the following tables all
agree.
