Automatic illumination of
headlamps
The sidelamps and dipped beam
headlamps are switched on automati-
cally, without any action on the part of
the driver, when a low level of external
light is detected or in certain cases of
activation of the windscreen wipers.
As soon as the brightness returns to a
s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l o r a f t e r t h e w i n d s c r e e n
wipers are switched off, the lamps are
switched off automatically.
Activation
Turn ring A to the "AUTO" position.
The automatic illumination of head-
lamps is accompanied by a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen.
Deactivation
Turn ring A to a position other
than "AUTO" . Deactivation is
accompanied by a message on
the multifunction screen. Linking with the automatic
Guide-me-home lighting
Association with the automatic illu-
mination of headlamps provides the
guide-me-home lighting with the fol-
lowing additional options:
- selection of the lighting duration
to 15, 30 or 60 seconds in the
vehicle parameters on the mul-
t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n c o n fi g u r a t i o n
menu (in the case of the mono-
chrome screen A, the duration is
fi x e d ) ,
- automatic activation of guide- me-home lighting when auto-
matic illumination of headlamps
is in operation. Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction of the
sunshine sensor, the lamps comes
on, a message appears on the multi-
function screen, accompanied by an
audible signal.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
In fog or snow, the sunshine sen-
s o r m a y d e t e c t s u f fi c i e n t l i g h t .
Therefore, the lighting will not
come on automatically.
Do not cover the sunshine sen-
sor, linked with the rain sensor and
located in the centre of the wind-
screen behind the rear view mirror;
the associated functions would no
longer be controlled.

Reverse gear
When reverse gear is engaged, the
rear wiper will come into operation if
the windscreen wipers are operating.
Programming The function is activated
or deactivated via the
multifunction screen

This function is activated

Windscreen and headlamp
wash
Pull the windscreen wiper stalk
towards you. The windscreen
wash then the windscreen wip-
e r s o p e r a t e f o r a fi x e d p e r i o d .
The headlamp washers only operate
when the dipped beam headlamps
are on . Automatic rain sensitive
windscreen wipers
The windscreen wipers operate au-
tomatically, without any action on the
part of the driver, if rain is detected
( s e n s o r b e h i n d t h e r e a r v i e w m i r r o r ) ,
adapting their speed to the intensity
of the rainfall.
This is controlled manually by the
driver by pushing the stalk down-
wards to the
"AUTO" position.
It is accompanied by a message on
the multifunction screen. The automatic rain sensitive wi-
pers must be reactivated if the ig-
nition has been off for more than
one minute, by pushing the stalk
downwards.
Operating fault
If an automatic wiping malfunction
occurs, the wipers will operate in in-
termittent mode.
Have it checked by a CITROËN
dealer. Do not cover the rain sensor, linked
with the sunshine sensor and located
in the centre of the windscreen be-
hind the rear view mirror.
Switch off the automatic rain sen-
sitive wipers when using an auto-
matic car wash.
In winter, to avoid damaging the
wiper blades, it is advisable to wait
until the windscreen is completely
clear of ice before activating the
automatic rain sensitive wipers.

TYRE UNDER-INFLATION DETECTION

the tyre pressure during driving and
trigger a warning in the event of
malfunction (speed above 12 mph
(20 km/h)).
U n d e r - i n fl a t e d t y r e T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system is an aid to driving which
does not replace the vigilance or
responsibility of the driver. Puncture
The service warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen lo-
cating the wheel concerned.
Check the tyre pressures as soon as
possible. This check must be carried
out when the tyres are cold. The
STOP warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen lo-
cating the wheel concerned.
Stop immediately, avoiding any sud-
den movement of the steering wheel
and the brakes.
Change the damaged wheel (punc-
t u r e d o r v e r y d e fl a t e d t y r e ) , a n d
have the tyre pressure checked as
soon as possible.
Sensor(s) not detected or faulty
The service warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen
locating the wheel or wheels which
are not detected or indicating a fault
in the system.
Have the faulty sensor(s) checked
by a CITROËN dealer. All repairs and changing of tyres
o n a w h e e l fi t t e d w i t h t h i s s y s t e m
must be carried out by a CITROËN
dealer.
If, when changing a tyre, you in-
stall a wheel which is not detected
b y y o u r v e h i c l e ( e x a m p l e : fi t t i n g
of snow tyres), you must have the
system reinitialised by a CITROËN
dealer.
This system does not avoid the
need to have the tyre pressures
checked regularly (refer to the
" T e c h n i c a l d a t a - § I d e n t i fi c a t i o n
markings" section) to ensure that
the optimum dynamic performance
of the vehicle is maintained and
prevent premature wear of the
tyres, particularly in arduous driv-
ing conditions (heavy load, high
speed).
The tyre pressures must be
checked cold, at least once a
month. Remember to check the
pressure of the spare wheel.
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
s y s t e m m a y e x p e r i e n c e t e m p o r a r y
interference due to electro-mag-
netic signals on a frequency close
to that used by the system.
This message is also displayed
when one of the wheels is away
from the vehicle (being repaired) or
when one or more wheels without a
s e n s o r a r e fi t t e d .

PARKING SPACE SENSORS
After measuring the parking space
available between two vehicles or
obstacles, this system gives you in-
formation on:
- t h e p o s s i b i l i t y o f fi t t i n g i n t o a f r e e space, depending on the dimen-
sions of your vehicle and the dis-
tances needed for manoeuvring,
- t h e l e v e l o f d i f fi c u l t y o f t h e m a - noeuvre to be performed.
The system does not measure spac-
es which are clearly much smaller or
l a r g e r t h a n t h e s i z e o f t h e v e h i c l e . Displays on the instrument
panel
The parking space sensor
function warning lamp can
have three different states:
- off: the function is not selected,
- o n fi x e d : the function is selected
but the conditions for measure-
ment are not yet met (direction
indicator not operating, speed
t o o h i g h ) o r t h e m e a s u r e m e n t
phase has ended.
- fl a s h i n g : measurement is in
progress or the message is being
displayed. You can activate the "parking space
sensor" function by pressing but-
ton

Operation

Press button A to activate the
function.
Activate the direction indicator
on the side where the space is to
be measured.
During the measuring, go for-
ward the length of the space, at
a speed less than 12 mph (ap-
p r o x i m a t e l y 2 0 k m / h ) , t o p r e p a r e
for your manoeuvre.
The system then measures the s i z e o f t h e s p a c e .
The system informs you of the
l e v e l o f d i f fi c u l t y o f t h e m a n o e u -
vre via a message on the multi-
function screen accompanied by
an audible signal.

Parking not advised
The function displays the following
types of message: The function deactivates itself auto-
matically:
- when you engage reverse gear,
- when you switch off the ignition,
- fi v e m i n u t e s a f t e r a c t i v a t i o n o f
the function or after the last mea-
surement operation,
- if the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold of 45 mph (approxi-
m a t e l y 7 0 k m / h ) f o r o n e m i n u t e .
If there is a malfunction,
have the system checked
by a CITROËN dealer.
If the lateral distance between your
vehicle and the parking space is too
great, the system may not operate.
- The function remains available
after each measurement and so
can measure a number of places
successively.
- In bad weather or in winter, en- sure that the sensors are not cov-
ered by dirt, or by ice or snow.
- The parking space sensor func- tion deactivates the front parking
sensors during the space mea-
suring phase when you are in
forward gear.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM
System which detects the involun-
t a r y c r o s s i n g o f l o n g i t u d i n a l t r a f fi c
lane markings on the ground (solid
o r b r o k e n l i n e ) .
S e n s o r s , fi t t e d b e l o w t h e f r o n t b u m -
per, trigger a warning if the vehicle
drifts over a lane marking (speed
h i g h e r t h a n 5 0 m p h ( 8 0 k m / h ) ) .
This system is particularly useful on
motorways and main roads. Activation
Press button A , the indicator
lamp comes on.
Deactivation
Press button A again, the indica-
tor lamp switches off.
The status of the system remains
in the memory when the ignition is
switched off.
Detection
You are warned by the vibration of
the driver's seat cushion:
- on the right-hand side, if the marking on the ground has been
crossed on the right,
- on the left-hand side, if the mark- ing on the ground has been
crossed on the left.
No warning is transmitted while the
direction indicator is active and for
approximately 20 seconds after the
direction indicator is switched off.
A warning may be transmitted if a
d i r e c t i o n m a r k i n g ( e . g . a r r o w ) o r
n o n - s t a n d a r d m a r k i n g ( e . g . g r a f fi t i )
is crossed. Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction, the
service warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction
screen.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
The lane departure warning sys-
tem cannot, in any circumstances,
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver. The detection may be impeded:
- if the sensors are dirty (mud,
s n o w . . . ) ,
- if the markings on the ground are worn,
- if there is little contrast between the markings on the ground and
the road surface.
