2009 SATURN AURA instrument cluster

SERVICE TRACTION
If your vehicle has the Traction Control System (TCS),
this message displays and a chime sounds when the
system is not functioning properly. The ESC/TCS light
also appears on the instrument panel cluster. This light
stays on solid as long as the detected problem remains
present. When this message displays, the system is not
working. Adjust your driving accordingly. SeeTraction

information. Have the system serviced by your dealer/
retailer as soon as possible.
SVC (Service) TIRE MONITOR
On vehicles with the Tire Pressure Monitor System
(TPMS), this message displays if a part on the TPMS is
not working properly. The tire pressure light also ashes
and then remains on during the same ignition cycle. See
Tire Pressure Light on page 3-36. Several conditions may
cause this message to appear. SeeTire Pressure Monitor
Operation on page 5-55for more information. If the
warning comes on and stays on, there may be a problem
with the TPMS. See your dealer/retailer.
TRACTION OFF
If your vehicle has the Traction Control System (TCS),
this message displays and the ESC/TCS light on the
instrument panel cluster comes on solid when the system

TRUNK AJAR
This message displays when the trunk is not closed
completely. Make sure that the trunk is closed

This light will ash on the
instrument panel cluster
when the ESC system
is both on and activated.
The system may be heard or felt while it is working;
this is normal.
When the light is on solid and either the SERVICE ESC
or ESC OFF message is displayed, the system will not
assist the driver in maintaining directional control of
the vehicle. Adjust your driving accordingly. SeeDIC
Warnings and Messages on page 3-45.
The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system is
automatically enabled whenever the vehicle is started.
To assist the driver with vehicle directional control,
especially in slippery road conditions, the system should
always be left on. But, ESC can be turned off if needed.If the vehicle is in cruise control when the system
begins to assist the driver maintain directional control of
the vehicle, the ESC/TCS light will ash and the cruise
control will automatically disengage. The cruise control
system may be re-engaged when road conditions allow.

The ESC/TCS button is
located on the instrument
panel.
The traction control system can be turned off or back
on by pressing the ESC/TCS button. To disable both
traction control and ESC, press and hold the button
briey.

3. Fill the coolant surge tank with the proper mixture,
to the FULL COLD mark. Wait about ve minutes,
then check to see if the level is below the mark. If the
level is below the FULL COLD mark, add additional
coolant to bring the level up to the mark. Repeat this
procedure until the level remains constant at the
FULL COLD mark for at least ve minutes.
4. With the coolant surge tank pressure cap off, start
the engine and let it run until you can feel the upper
radiator hose getting hot. Watch out for the engine
cooling fans.
By this time, the coolant level inside the coolant
surge tank might be lower. If the level is lower
than the FULL COLD mark, add more of the proper
mixture to the coolant surge tank until the level
reaches the FULL COLD mark.
5. Then replace the pressure cap. Be sure the
pressure cap is hand-tight and fully seated.
Notice:If the pressure cap is not tightly installed,
coolant loss and possible engine damage may
occur. Be sure the cap is properly and tightly

The vehicle has several indicators to warn of engine
overheating.
You will nd an engine coolant temperature gage as

on a radio frequency and complies with Part 15 of the
FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two

Vehicles with TPMS operate on a radio frequency and

Tire Pressure Monitor Operation
This vehicle may have a Tire Pressure Monitor
System (TPMS). The TPMS is designed to warn
the driver when a low tire pressure condition exists.
TPMS sensors are mounted onto each tire and wheel
assembly, excluding the spare tire and wheel assembly.
The TPMS sensors monitor the air pressure in the
vehicle’s tires and transmits the tire pressure readings
to a receiver located in the vehicle.
When a low tire pressure
condition is detected, the
TPMS turns on the low
tire pressure warning light
located on the instrument
panel cluster.
At the same time a message to check the pressure in
a specic tire appears on the Driver Information Center
(DIC) display. The low tire pressure warning light and the
DIC warning message come on at each ignition cycle
until the tires are inated to the correct ination pressure.
Using the DIC, tire pressure levels can be viewed by the
driver. For additional information and details about the
