Deactivating the rear window
switches
Reinitialisation
Following reconnection of the battery or
in the event of a malfunction you must
reinitialise the operation of the electric
windows:
release the switch and pull it again
until the window closes completely,
hold the switch for approximately
one second after closing, Always remove the key from the
ignition when leaving the vehicle,
even for a short time.
In the event of contact during
operation of the windows, you
must reverse the movement of the
window. To do this, press the switch
concerned.
When the driver operates the pas-
senger electric window switches,
they must ensure that no one is
preventing correct closing of the
windows.
The driver must ensure that the
passengers use the electric win-
dows correctly. REAR QUARTER WINDOWS
On the 3-door versions, system for ventilation of the rear seats limiting the partial opening of the window.
Opening
For the safety of your children, press
switch 5 to prevent operation of the
rear windows irrespective of their
position.
When the button is pressed down, the
rear window switches are deactived.
When the button is raised, the rear window
switches are active.
Closing
Pull the lever to release the window.
Tilt the lever fully inwards to secure
the window in the closed position.
Tilt the lever outwards.
Push it fully to secure the window in
the open position.
press the switch to lower the window
automatically,
when the window has reached the
low position, press the switch again
for approximately one second.
The safety

LIGHTING CONTROLS
System for selection and control of the
various front and rear lamps providing
the vehicle’s lighting. Manual controls
The lighting commands are made direct-
ly by the driver by means of ring
A and
stalk B .
lighting off,
sidelamps only,
dipped or main beam head-lamps,
B. stalk for inversion of the beam by pull-
ing: dipped headlamps/main beam
headlamps.
In the lighting off and sidelamps modes,
the driver can switch on the main beam
h e a d l a m p s d i r e c t l y ( " h e a d l a m p fl a s h " )
by pulling and holding the stalk.
Displays
The corresponding indicator lamp
comes on on the instrument panel to
c o n fi r m t h e s w i t c h i n g o n o f t h e l i g h t i n g
selected.
Main lighting
The vehicle’s various front and rear lamps
are designed to adapt the driver’s visibility
gradually in relation to the climatic condi-
tions:
- sidelamps, to be seen,
- dipped beam headlamps to see
without dazzling other drivers,
-main beam headlamps for good visibility when the road is clear.
Additional lighting
Other lamps are installed to respond to
particular driving conditions:
- rear foglamps to be seen from a dis-tance,
- front foglamps for even better visibility,
- directional headlamps for improved visibility around bends.
Programmes
Various automatic lighting control modes are also available according to the fol-lowing options:
- "guide-me-home" lighting,
- automatic lighting,
- static directional lighting.

The ESP/ASR systems offer ex-
ceptional safety in normal driving,
but this should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and opera-
tion procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground, ...), it may be
advisable to disarm the ASR and ESP
systems, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
Press the" ESP OFF" button, located
in the centre of the dashboard.
If this warning lamp comes on on
the instrument panel and the indi-
cator lamp on the button comes
on, this indicates that the ASR and
ESP systems are deactivated.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automat-
ically each time the ignition is switched
b a c k o n o r f r o m 3 0 m p h ( 5 0 k m / h ) ( e x -
cept in the case of the 1.6 l 16V THP
175 hp petrol engine).
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multi-
function screen, this indicates a
malfunction of these systems.
Have them checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
TRAJECTORY CONTROL
SYSTEMS
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started.
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
They come into operation in
t h e e v e n t o f a g r i p o r t r a j e c t o r y
problem.
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g o f
this warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel. Steering/ESP coupling system
(SSP)
The anti-skid regulation (also known as
Traction Control) optimises traction to
prevent skidding of the wheels, by act-
ing on the brakes of the driving wheels
and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
t r a j e c t o r y r e q u i r e d b y t h e d r i v e r . This system optimises the stability of
the vehicle and its braking capacity by
combining the actions of the ESP and
electric power steering when braking on
surfaces on which the grip of the right-
hand and left-hand wheel differs.
It permits increased braking of the
wheels which are in contact with the
section of road offering the higher level
of grip and, anticipating the instability of
the vehicle, the application of a slight
correction to the turning angle of the
wheels to assist the driver in maintain-
i n g h i s t r a j e c t o r y .

On the central panel, the corresponding
warning lamp 1 or 2 comes on in red if
the seat belt is not fastened or is unfas-
tened.
When the engine is running, the corre-
sponding warning lamp 1 or 2 comes on
in red, accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multifunction
screen, if a front occupant has unfas-
tened their seat belt.

When the ignition is switched on,
the corresponding warning lamps

When the engine is running, the cor-
responding warning lamp 3, 4 ** or 5
comes on in red, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on the
multifunction screen, if a rear passen-
ger has unfastened their seat belt.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.

Side airbags *
System which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a seri-
ous side impact in order to limit the risk
o f i n j u r y t o t h e c h e s t .
Each side airbag is incorporated in the
front seat back frame, on the door side.
Operation
It is triggered unilaterally in the event
of a serious side impact applied to all
or part of the side impact zone B , per-
pendicular to the longitudinal centreline
of the vehicle on a horizontal plane and
directed from the outside towards the
inside of the vehicle.
T h e s i d e a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
front occupant of the vehicle and the
corresponding door trim pad. Curtain airbags *
System which protects the driver and
passengers (with the exception of the
rear centre passenger) in the event of a
serious side impact in order to limit the
r i s k o f h e a d i n j u r i e s .
Each curtain airbag is incorporated in
the pillars and the upper part of the pas-
senger compartment.
If this warning lamp comes on
in the instrument panel, accom-
panied by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction
screen, contact a PEUGEOT dealer to
have the system checked. The airbags
may no longer be triggered in the event
of a serious impact.

Operating fault

corresponding side airbag in the event
of a serious side impact applied to all
or part of the side impact zone
