WARNING
LIGHTS AND
MESSAGES
Go to a Lancia Dealership as
soon as possible if the warn-
ing light
Udoes not light up
when the key is turned to
MAR or if, during car travel, the
warning light comes on either steady
or blinking (along with a message on
the display). The operation of the
warning light
Umay be checked by
the traffic police using specific de-
vices. Follow the laws in force in the
country where you are driving.
FRONT PASSENGER
AIRBAG DISABLED
(amber)
The warning light“comes
on when the front passenger’s airbag
is disabled.
With the front passenger’s airbag on,
when the ignition key is moved to
MAR, the warning light “comes on
steadily for about 4 seconds; then, it
continues to flash for 4 seconds and
finally goes off.
“
When the warning light
comes on, “it indicates
that a light failure has occurred
¬.
In addition, the airbag system auto-
matically disables the airbag on the
passenger’s side (both front and side
airbags, where provided). Contact
Lancia Dealership immediately to
have the system checked.
WARNING
ABS SYSTEM FAILURE
(amber)
When the ignition key is
moved to MAR, the warning
light turns on and should go off after
a few seconds.
The warning light lights up when the
system is either not working or not
available. In this case, the braking
system preserves its efficiency unal-
tered without, however, offering the
extra operating capacity of the ABS
system. Drive carefully and go to a
Lancia Dealership as soon as possible.
The display will show the dedicated
message.
>
FUEL RESERVE (amber)
When the ignition key is
moved to MAR, the warn-
ing light turns on and should
go off after a few seconds.
The warning light turns on when
about 6 to 7 litres of fuel are left in
the tank.
IMPORTANT The warning light
flashes to indicate a system failure. Go
to a Lancia Dealership to have the
system checked.

tioning, contact a Lancia Dealership.
To change the bulb in the direction in-
dicators, proceed as follows:
❒open the tailgate;
❒turn the fastening device Ain an
anticlockwise direction (for the
left-hand door) or in a clockwise
direction (for the right-hand door)
and remove the covering door;
❒disconnect the electric connector

❒unscrew the two fastening nuts B;
❒to remove the headlight, pull it up
perpendicularly using the handle
on the body of the headlight itself;
❒press down the bulb holder lock-
ing tabs and extract it from its
seat;
❒remove the bulb by pushing it
slightly and turning it in an anti-
clockwise direction;
❒reinstall the bulb holder ensuring
that the two locking tabs are effec-
tively engaged; fit the light unit in
its housing and hook up the elec-
trical connector C; tighten the two
fastening nuts B; refit the coveringdoor taking care to insert the tabs
in their seat and turning the fas-
tening device Ain an anticlockwise
direction (for the left-hand door) or
in a clockwise direction (for the

BRAKE FLUID fig. 12
Release cap: check that the liquid
contained in the tank is at the maxi-
mum level.
Fluid level in the reservoir must not
exceed the MAXmark.
Use the brake fluid shown in the
“Fluids and lubricants” table (see
“Technical Specifications”chapter).
NOTE Carefully clean the cap of the
reservoir and the surrounding surface.
When opening the cap, make sure
that no dirt gets into the reservoir.
For topping up always use a funnel
with integrated filter that has a mesh
inferior or equal to 0.12 mm.
fig. 12L0D0213m
IMPORTANT Brake fluid absorbs
moisture. For this reason, if the car is
mainly used in areas with a high de-
gree of atmospheric humidity, the
fluid should be replaced at more fre-
quent intervals than specified in the
“Service schedule”.
Prevent brake fluid which is
highly corrosive from com-
ing into contact with painted
parts. Should that occur, im-
mediately wash with water.
The brake fluid is poiso-
nous and highly corrosive.
In the case of accidental contact,
wash the parts with water and mild
soap and rinse with plenty of water.
In case of swallowing immediately
call a doctor.
WARNING
The symbol π, on the con-
tainer, indicates a synthetic
brake fluid, which is different from
a mineral fluid. Use of a mineral
type fluid will damage the special
rubber seals of the braking system
beyond repair.

MAINTENANCE
AND CARE
IMPORTANT If the charge level re-
mains for a long time under 50%, the
battery is damaged by sulphation, re-
ducing its capacity and starting atti-
tude.
The battery will also be more at risk
of freezing (e.g. already at –10°C).
Refer to the paragraph “Car inactiv-
ity” in “Starting and driving” if the
car is left parked for a long time.
If after buying the car, you want to in-
stall electric accessories which require
permanent electric supply (alarm,
etc.) contact the Lancia Dealership
whose qualified personnel, in addition
to suggesting the most suitable devices
beloning to the Lancia Lineaccessori
line, will evaluate the overall electric
absorption, checking whether the car’s
electric system is capable of with-
standing the load required, or whether
it should be integrated with a more
powerful battery.
Since these devices continue absorb-
ing energy even when the ignition key
is off, they gradually run down the
battery.WHEELS
AND TYRES
Check the pressure of each type, in-
cluding the spare, approximately once
every two weeks and before starting a
long journey: this check must be per-
formed with the tyre rested and cold.
It is normal for the pressure to in-
crease when the car is used; for the
correct tyre inflation pressure, see
“Wheels” in “Technical specifica-
tions” section.
Incorrect pressure causes abnormal
tyre wear:
A: normal pressure: evenly worn
tread.
B: low pressure: tread particularly
worn on the edges.
C: excessive pressure: tread particu-
larly worn in the middle.
The tyres must be replaced when the
tread is less than 1.6 mm thick. In all
cases, follow the laws in force in the
country where you are driving.IMPORTANT NOTES
❒Avoid braking suddenly, burning
starts and violent knocks against
the curb, potholes or other obsta-
cles if possible. Long distances on
rough roads may damage the
tyres;
❒check the tyres regularly for cuts
on the sides, swelling or irregular
tread wear. Go to a Lancia Deal-
ership if required;
❒do not overload your car: this may
cause serious damage to wheels
and tyres;
❒if a tyre is punctured, stop imme-
diately and charge it to avoid
damage to the tyre, the rim, sus-
pensions and steering system;
