TPMS (Tire Pressure
Monitoring System)
malfunction indicator
The TPMS malfunction indicator
comes on and stays on when there is
a problem with the Tire Pressure
Monitoring System. If the system is
able to correctly detect an under-
inflation warning at the same time as
system failure then it will illuminate
both the TPMS malfunction and the
low tire pressure telltale e.g. if front
left sensor fails, the TPMS malfunc-
tion indicator turns on, but if front
right, rear left, or rear right tire is
under-inflated, the low tire pressure
telltale may turn on at the same time
as the TPMS malfunction indicator.
Have the system checked by an
authorized KIA dealer as soon as
possible to determine the cause of
the problem.

CAUTION
The TPMS malfunction indica- tor may be illuminated if thevehicle is moving around elec-tric power supply cables orradio transmitter such as atpolice stations, governmentand public offices, broadcast-ing stations, military installa-tions, airports, or transmittingtowers, etc. This can interferewith normal operation of theTire Pressure MonitoringSystem (TPMS).

(Continued) If there is a failed tire sensor, it is possible for the TPMS totemporarily learn a replace-ment sensor if closely drivento another vehicle that is alsoequipped with TPMS. In rarecases, this may temporarilydelay the TPMS malfunctionindicator from turning on.
The TPMS malfunction indica- tor may be illuminated if Snowchains or some electronicdevices, such as notebookcomputers, are used in thevehicle. These can interferewith normal operation of theTire Pressure MonitoringSystem (TPMS).

If you have a flat tire, the Low Tire
Pressure telltale will turn on. Have
the flat tire repaired by an authorized
KIA dealer as soon as possible or
replace the flat tire with the tempo-
rary spare tire.✽ ✽
NOTICENEVER use a puncture-repairing
agent to repair and/or inflate a low
pressure tire. If used, you will have
to replace the tire pressure sensor. Each wheel is equipped with a tire
pressure sensor mounted inside the
tire behind the valve stem. You must
use TPMS specific wheels. It is rec-
ommended that you always have
your tires serviced by an authorized
KIA dealer as soon as possible.
After you replace the low pressure
tire with the spare tire, the TPMS
malfunction indicator or the Low Tire
Pressure telltale may illuminate after
restarting and about 20 minutes of
continuous driving. Once the low pressure tire is re-
inflated to the recommended pres-
sure and installed on the vehicle, the
TPMS malfunction indicator and the
low tire pressure telltale will turn off.
If the low pressure and TPMS mal-
function indicators do not turn off
after about 20 minutes of continuous
driving, please visit an authorized
KIA dealer.
You may not be able to identify a low
tire by simply looking at it. Always
use a good quality tire pressure
gauge to measure the tire's inflation
pressure. Please note that a tire that
is hot (from being driven) will have a
higher pressure measurement than a
tire that is cold (from sitting station-
ary for at least 3 hours and driven
less than 1 mile during that 3 hour
period). Allow the tire to cool before
measuring the inflation pressure.
Always be sure the tire is cold before
inflating to the recommended pres-
sure.
A cold tire means the vehicle has
been sitting for 3 hours and driven for
less than 1 mile in that 3 hour period.
CAUTION
Do not use any tire sealant if
your vehicle is equipped witha Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem. The liquid sealant candamage the tire pressure sen-sors.
In order for the system to cor- rectly monitor tires for under-inflation, there should be atotal of exactly 4 sensors fit-ted to each of the four wheels.There should be no other sen-sors in the vehicle includingthe spare tire since this couldcause the system to monitorthe wrong sensors.

The TPMS cannot alert you to severe and sudden tire dam-
age caused by external fac-
tors such as nails or road
debris.
If you feel any vehicle instabil- ity, immediately take your foot
off the accelerator, apply the
brakes gradually and with
light force, and slowly move to
a safe position off the road.

Changes or modifications not
expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance
could void the user’s authority
to operate the equipment.

wrench are stored in the luggage
compartment. Pull up the luggage
box cover to reach this equipment.

tire changing only.
To prevent the jack from “rattling”
while the vehicle is in motion, store it
properly.
Follow jacking instructions to reduce
the possibility of personal injury.
Removing and storing the jack1. Open the cover.
2. Remove the tie-down band and
then pull up the clip.
3. Take out the jack.
4. After finishing using the jack, put it back in the reverse order.

Operating the jackTo raise the jack:
1. Check whether the jack valve isclosed. If not, insert the jack han-
dle into the valve and turn it clock-
wise until it is closed.
2. Insert the jack handle into the pump bracket.
3. Pump the jack handle up and down until the ram is raised to the
desired level. To lower the jack:
1. Insert the jack handle into the
valve and turn it counterclockwise
until it is opened. Do not turn it
more than twice.
2. Push the ram in by pushing the top of the ram.
3. When the ram is completely low- ered, insert the jack handle into
the valve and turn it clockwise and
close it.

This jack is hydraulic, and theram is a two stage type. Whenboth rams are raised and thestop mark of the upper rambecomes visible, stop jackingimmediately.

tire
Your spare tire is stored underneath
your vehicle, directly below the cargo
area.
To remove the spare tire:
1. Open the tailgate.
2. Find the plastic hex bolt cover and
remove the cover.
WARNING
- Changing tires
Never attempt vehicle repairs in the traffic lanes of a public
road or highway.
Always move the vehicle com- pletely off the road and onto
the shoulder before trying to
change a tire. The jack should
be used on a firm level
ground. If you cannot find a
firm, level place off the road,
call a towing service company
for assistance.
Be sure to use the correct front and rear jacking posi-
tions on the vehicle; never
use the bumpers or any other
part of the vehicle for jack
support.
The vehicle can easily roll off the jack causing serious
injury or death. No person
should place any portion of
their body under a vehicle that
is supported only by a jack;
use vehicle support stands.

Do not start or run the enginewhile the vehicle is on the
jack.
Do not allow anyone to remain in the vehicle while it is on the
jack.
Make sure any children pres- ent are in a secure place away
from the road and from the
vehicle to be raised with the
jack.

3. Use the wheel lug nut wrench toloosen the bolt enough to lower
the spare tire.
Turn the wrench counterclockwise
until the spare tire reaches the
ground. 4. After the spare tire reaches the
ground, continue to turn the
wrench counterclockwise, and
draw the spare tire outside. Never
rotate the wrench excessively, oth-
erwise the spare tire carrier may
be damaged.
5. Remove the retainer (1) from the center of the spare tire. To store the spare tire:
1. Lay the tire on the ground with the
valve stem facing up.
2. Place the wheel under the vehicle and install the retainer (1) through
the wheel center.
3. Turn the wrench clockwise until it clicks.

WARNING
Ensure the spare tire retainer is
properly aligned with the center
of the spare tire to prevent the
spare tire from “rattling”.
Otherwise, it may cause the
spare tire to fall off the carrier
and lead to an accident.

1. Park on a level surface and apply
the parking brake firmly.
2. Place the transmission shift lever in P (Park).
3. Activate the hazard warning flash- er. 4. Remove the wheel lug nut wrench,
jack, jack handle, and spare tire
from the vehicle.
5. Block both the front and rear of the wheel that is diagonally opposite
from the jack position.

- Changing a tire
To prevent vehicle movementwhile changing a tire, always
set the parking brake fully,
and always block the wheel
diagonally opposite the wheel
being changed.
We recommend that the wheels of the vehicle be
blocked, and that no person
remain in a vehicle that is
being jacked.
