DOOR LOCKS

WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked so that the doors cannot be inadvert- ently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that the doors will not be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car in case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traffic.
o In case of an accident, all doors
will unlock automatically (If In- stalled).
OMC025005R B040C01MC-GAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position sothat the red mark on the switch is not visible, then close the door.

o Lock the door by turning the key toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

To lock the doors from the inside, sim- ply close the door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK" position. NOTE:
o When the door is locked, the red mark on the switch is not visible.
o The driver's door can be opened by pulling the inside door handle even if the lock switch is de- pressed. B040E04A-DAT CHILD-PROTECTOR REAR DOOR LOCK (4 Door) Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child- protector" rear door lock assembly.
NOTE:
o If your vehicle is equipped with
central door locking system, the door will not lock if the key is leftin the ignition switch when the front doors are closed.
o When locking the door this way, be careful not to lock the door withthe ignition key left in the vehicle.
o To protect against theft, always remove the ignition key, close allwindows, and lock all doors and the boot lid(4 Door)/tail gate(3 Door)when leaving your vehicle unat- tended.

B040G01MC-DAT Central Door Lock (If Installed) The central door locking switch is lo- cated on the driver's arm rest. It is operated by depressing the door lockswitch. NOTE:
o When pushing the front portion of
the driver's door lock switch, all vehicle doors will lock. If any door is open when the switch is depressed, the door will remainlocked when closed.

the switch, all vehicle doors will unlock.
o The central door locking is oper-
ated by turning the key in thedriver's door lock toward the front or rear of the vehicle.
o The driver's door can be opened by pulling the inside door handleeven if the lock switch is de- pressed.
o If the door is locked/unlocked mul- tiple times in rapid succession with either the vehicle key or doorlock switch, the system may stop operating temporarily in order to protect the circuit and prevent damage to system components.

When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannot be opened from inside. Its use is recommended when-ever there are small children in the rear seat. To engage the child-protector feature so the door cannot be opened from the inside, move the child-protector leverto the "
" position and close the door.

when normal door operation is desired. The outside door handle will function normally, regardless of the position of the child protector door lock.
WARNING:
Be careful not to pull the inside doorhandle while driving. If you pull theinside door handle, the door can be opened and you may be ejected from the vehicle and can be injured orkilled.

1) Be careful that someone's head, hands and body are not trapped by a closing window.
2) Never try to operate the main
switch on the driver's door andthe individual door window switch in opposing directions at the same time. If this is done, the windowwill stop and cannot be opened or closed.
3) Do not leave children alone in the car. Always remove the ignitionkey for their safety.

The power windows operate when the ignition key is in the "ON" position. The main switches are located on the driver's
armrest and control the front (4/3 Door)
and rear windows (4Door) on both sides of the vehicle. The windows may be openedby depressing the appropriate window switch and closed by pulling up the switch. To open the window on the driver's side,press the switch(1) halfway down. The window moves as long as the switch is operated. To fully open the driver's win-dow automatically, press the switch fully down. In automatic operation, the window will fully open even if you let go of theswitch. To stop at the desired opening, pull up and release the switch.
3 Door
4 Door In order to prevent operation of the passenger front (4/3 Door) and rear windows (4Door), a window lockswitch(2) is provided on the armrest of the driver's door. To disable the power windows, press the window lock switch.To revert to normal operation, press the window lock switch a second time. NOTE: The power windows can be operated for 30 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ACC" or "LOCK"positions, or removed from the igni- tion switch. If the front doors are opened during this 30 second pe-riod, the power windows can no longer be operated without the igni- tion key turned to the "ON" position.

WARNING:
When fastening the outboard seatbelts or the centre seat belt, make sure they are inserted into the cor-rect buckles to obtain maximum pro- tection from the seat belt system and assure proper operation.

o To disconnect the metal tab (A) from the buckle (B), insert a nar- row-ended tool into the groovelocated on the buckle (B).
o Lock the metal tab (A) and the
buckle (B) immediately after fold-ing rear seatbacks up. B230A03A-DAT If the child is old enough to sit alone and the car is not equipped with a proper child or infant seat, the child should be placed in the rear seat andrestained with a lap/sash belt. Child restraint systems are designed to be secured in vehicle seats by lap beltsor the lap belt portion of a lap/shoulder belt, or by a tether anchor and/or ISOFIX anchors (If Installed).
WARNING:
o Child restraint anchorages are designed to withstand only thoseloads imposed by correctly fittedchild restraints. Under no circum- stances are they to be used for adult seat belts harnesses or forattaching other items or equip- ment to the vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re- straint system can become veryhot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure and check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.

CHECKING THE BATTERY
o If battery fluid is on your skin, flushthe affected areas with water for at least 15 minutes and then seek medi- cal assistance.
o If battery fluid is in your eyes, rinse
out your eyes with water and getmedical assistance as soon as pos- sible. While you are being driven toget medical assistance, continue to rinse your eyes by using a sponge or soft cloth saturated with water.
o If you swallow battery fluid, drink a large quantity of water or milk fol-lowed by milk of magnesia, eat araw egg or drink vegetable oil. Get medical assistance as soon as pos- sible.
While batteries are being charged (ei- ther by a battery charger or by the vehicle's alternator), they produce ex-plosive gases. Always observe these warnings to reduce the risk of injury:
o Charge batteries only in a well ven- tilated area.
o Do not permit flames, sparks or smoking in the area.
o Keep children away from the area.

Batteries can be dangerous! When working with batteries, care- fully observe the following precau-tions to avoid serious injuries.
The fluid in the battery contains a strong solution of sulfuric acid, which is poi- sonous and highly corrosive. Be carefulnot to spill it on yourself or the car. If you do spill battery fluid on yourself, imme- diately do the following:

o Even though the power connector is pulled up, the battery can stillbe discharged by operation of the headlights or other electrical de-vices.

Front Turn Signal light
1. Open the engine bonnet and discon- nect the negative (-) post of the battery.
2. Disconnect the power cord from the bulb.
3. Take out the bulb from the bulb holder by turning it counterclock-wise.
4. Install the new bulb.

!WARNING:
o When removing/replacing halogen bulbs, always handle the metal body of the bulb, not the glass.
o The halogen bulb contains gas
under pressure and if impacted could shatter, resulting in flying fragments. Always wear eye pro- tection when servicing the bulb. Protect the bulb against abrasions or scratches and against liquids when lighted. Turn the bulb on only when installed in a headlight. Replace the headlight if damaged or cracked. Keep the bulb out of the reach of children and dispose of the used bulb with care.
5. Remove the socket cover.
6. Push the bulb spring to remove the
headlight bulb.
7. Remove the protective cap from the replacement bulb and install the new bulb by matching the plastic base with the headlight hole. Reattach thebulb spring and install the socket cover. Reconnect the power cord.
8. Use the protective cap and carton to dispose of the old bulb.
9.Check for proper headlight aim.
