(d)Inspect wiper blades for wear,
cracking, or contamination.
Clean the windshield and wiper
blades, if contaminated. Replace
wiper blades that are worn or
damaged. See Windshield Wiper
Blade Replacement on page 5-44
and Windshield, Backglass,
and Wiper Blades on page 5-87
for more information.
(e)Make sure the safety belt
reminder light and safety belt
assemblies are working properly.
Look for any other loose or
damaged safety belt system parts.
If you see anything that might
keep a safety belt system from doing
its job, have it repaired. Have any
torn or frayed safety belts replaced.

(f)Lubricate all key lock cylinders,
hood latch assembly, secondary
latch, pivots, spring anchor, release
pawl, rear compartment hinges,
outer endgate handle pivot points,
rear door detent link, rollermechanism, endgate handle pivot
points, latch bolt, fuel door hinge,
locks, and folding seat hardware.
More frequent lubrication may
be required when exposed to a
corrosive environment. Applying
silicone grease on weatherstrips
with a clean cloth will make
them last longer, seal better, and
not stick or squeak.
(g)Check vent hose at transfer
case for kinks and proper
installation.
(h)Change automatic transmission
fluid and filter if the vehicle is
mainly driven under one or more of
these conditions:
In heavy city traffic where the
outside temperature regularly
reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher.
In hilly or mountainous terrain.
When doing frequent trailer
towing.
Uses such as found in taxi,
police, or delivery service.(i)Drain, flush, and refill cooling
system. This service can be
complex; you should have your
dealer/retailer perform this service.

Clean radiator, condenser,
pressure cap, and filler neck.
Pressure test the cooling system
and pressure cap.
(j)A fluid loss in any vehicle system
could indicate a problem. Have the
system inspected and repaired
and the fluid level checked. Add fluid
if needed.
(k)Visually inspect belt for fraying,
excessive cracks, or obvious
damage. Replace belt if necessary.

vehicle safety, dependability,
and emission control performance.
Your dealer/retailer can assist
with these checks and services.
Be sure any necessary repairs are
completed at once. Whenever
any uids or lubricants are added
to the vehicle, make sure they
are the proper ones, as shown
inRecommended Fluids and
Lubricants on page 6-12.
At Each Fuel Fill
It is important to perform these
underhood checks at each fuel fill.
Engine Oil Level Check
Notice:It is important to check
the engine oil regularly and
keep it at the proper level.
Failure to keep the engine oil
at the proper level can cause
damage to the engine not covered
by the vehicle warranty.
Check the engine oil level and
add the proper oil if necessary.

Engine Coolant Level Check
Check the engine coolant level
and add DEX-COOL®coolant
mixture if necessary. SeeEngine
Coolant on page 5-23.
Windshield Washer Fluid
Level Check
Check the windshield washer uid
level in the windshield washer
uid reservoir and add the proper
uid if necessary.
At Least Once a Month
Tire Ination Check
Inspect the vehicle’s tires and make
sure they are inated to the correct
pressures. Do not forget to check
the spare tire. SeeInflation - Tire
Pressure on page 5-51. Check to
make sure the spare tire is stored
securely. SeeChanging a Flat Tire
on page 5-66.
Tire Wear Inspection
Tire rotation may be required for
high mileage highway drivers prior to
the Engine Oil Life System service
notication. Check the tires for
wear and, if necessary, rotate the
tires. SeeTire Inspection and
Rotation on page 5-57.

Services Provided

Emergency Fuel Delivery:
Delivery of enough fuel for
the vehicle to get to the nearest
service station.
Lock-Out Service:Service is
provided to unlock the vehicle if
you are locked out. A remote
unlock may be available if you
have OnStar
®. For security
reasons, the driver must present
identication before this service is
given.
Emergency Tow From a Public
Road or Highway:Tow to the
nearest HUMMER dealer for
warranty service, or if the vehicle
was in a crash and cannot be
driven.
Flat Tire Change:Service is
provided to change a at tire with
spare tire. The spare tire, if
equipped, must be in good
condition and properly inated. It
is your responsibility for the repair
or replacement of the tire if it is
not covered by the warranty.
Battery Jump Start:Service is
provided to jump start a dead
battery.
Trip Routing Service:Detailed
maps of North America are
provided when requested either
with the most direct route or the
most scenic route. Additional
travel information is also
available. Allow three weeks
for delivery.
Trip Interruption Benets and
Assistance:If your trip is
interrupted due to a warranty
failure, incidental expenses may
be reimbursed during the 5 year/
100,000 miles (160 000 km)
Powertrain warranty period. Items
considered are hotel, meals, and
rental car.

HUMMER Technician
Roadside Service (U.S. only)
HUMMER’s exceptional Roadside
Service is more than an auto club or
towing service. It provides every
HUMMER owner in the United
States with the advantage of
contacting a HUMMER advisor and,
where available, a HUMMER
trained dealer technician who can
provide on-site service.
A dealer technician will travel to your
location within a 30 mile radius of a
participating HUMMER dealership.
If beyond this radius, we will arrange
to have your vehicle towed to the
nearest HUMMER dealership. Each
technician travels with a specially
equipped service vehicle complete
with the necessary HUMMER parts
and tools required to handle most
roadside repairs.
Services Not Included in
Roadside Assistance

Impound towing caused by
violation of any laws.
Legal nes.
Mounting, dismounting or
changing of snow tires, chains,
or other traction devices.
Towing or services for vehicles
driven on a non-public road or
highway.

Fuel delivery:Reimbursement
is approximately $5 Canadian.
Diesel fuel delivery may be
restricted. Propane and other
fuels are not provided through
this service.
Lock-Out Service:Vehicle
registration is required.
Trip Routing Service:Limit of
six requests per year.
Trip Interruption Benets and
Assistance:Pre-authorization,
original detailed receipts, and a
copy of the repair orders are
required. Once authorization has
been received, the Roadside
Assistance advisor will help you
make arrangements and explain
how to receive payment.
Alternative Service:If
assistance cannot be provided
right away, the Roadside
Assistance advisor may give you
permission to get local emergency
road service. You will receive
payment, up to $100, after
sending the original receipt to
Roadside Assistance. Mechanical
failures may be covered, however
any cost for parts and labor for
repairs not covered by the
warranty are the owner
responsibility.

Public Transportation or Fuel
Reimbursement
If your vehicle requires warranty
repairs, and public transportation is
used instead of the dealer’s shuttle
service, the expense must be
supported by original receipts and
can only be up to the maximum
amount allowed by GM for shuttle
service. In addition, for U.S.
customers, should you arrange
transportation through a friend or
relative, limited reimbursement for
reasonable fuel expenses may be
available. Claim amounts should
reect actual costs and be supported
by original receipts. See your dealer
for information regarding the
allowance amounts for
reimbursement of fuel or other
transportation costs.Courtesy Rental Vehicle
Your dealer may arrange to provide
you with a courtesy rental vehicle or
reimburse you for a rental vehicle
that you obtain if your vehicle is kept
for a warranty repair. If you obtain a
rental vehicle on your own, please
see your dealer for the maximum
number of days allowed and the
allowance per rental day. Rental
reimbursement must be supported
by original receipts. This requires
that you sign and complete a rental
agreement and meet state, local, and
rental vehicle provider requirements.
Requirements vary and may include
minimum age requirements,
insurance coverage, credit card,
etc. You are responsible for fuel
usage charges and may also be
responsible for taxes, levies, usage
fees, excessive mileage, or rental
usage beyond the completion of the
repair.
It may not be possible to provide a
like-vehicle as a courtesy rental.Additional Program

All program options, such as shuttle
service, may not be available at
every dealer. Please contact
your dealer for specic information
about availability. All Courtesy
Transportation arrangements will be
administered by appropriate
dealer personnel.

Recording and
Privacy
Your GM vehicle has a number of
sophisticated computers that record
information about the vehicle’s
performance and how it is driven. For
example, your vehicle uses computer
modules to monitor and control
engine and transmission
performance, to monitor the
conditions for airbag deployment and
deploy airbags in a crash and, if so
equipped, to provide antilock braking
to help the driver control the vehicle.
These modules may store data to
help your dealer/retailer technician
service your vehicle. Some modules
may also store data about how you
operate the vehicle, such as rate of
fuel consumption or average speed.
These modules may also retain the
owner’s personal preferences, such
as radio pre-sets, seat positions, and
temperature settings.
Event Data Recorders
This vehicle has an Event
Data Recorder (EDR). The main
purpose of an EDR is to record, in
certain crash or near crash-like
situations, such as an airbag
deployment or hitting a road
obstacle, data that will assist in
understanding how a vehicle’s
systems performed. The EDR is
designed to record data related to
vehicle dynamics and safety
systems for a short period of time,
typically 30 seconds or less.
The EDR in this vehicle is designed
to record such data as:
How various systems in your
vehicle were operating
Whether or not the driver and
passenger safety belts were
buckled/fastened
How far, if at all, the driver was
pressing the accelerator and/or
brake pedal
How fast the vehicle was
