Road safety
Please, learn how to use all different radio
functions (e.g. save stations) before be-
ginning to drive.
Reception conditions
Reception conditions change constantly
while driving. Reception may be interfered
with by the presence of mountains, build-
ings or bridges, or when you are far away
from the broadcaster.
WARNING The volume may be increased

The car radio, which is equipped with a CD
player, has been designed according to the
specifications of the passenger compart-
ment, with a personalised design that fits in
well with the style of the dashboard; the
size of the car radio is compatible with the
vehicle and because it is a fixed type it can-
not be adapted to any other vehicle.
The car radio is installed in an ergonomi-
cally convenient position for the driver and
the passenger; the graphics on the front
panel help to quickly identify the controls
and makes them easier to use.
The instructions for use are given below.
We recommend that you read them care-
fully.
High volume can be a risk for
the driver and for other peo-
ple in traffic. The volume must there-
fore always be adjusted so that you
can still hear noise from the surround-
ings (e.g. horns, ambulance sirens, po-
lice sirens, etc.).
IMPORTANT
Care and maintenance
The radio system is designed for a long op-
erational life and does not require partic-
ular maintenance. In the case of a prob-
lem, contact a Fiat Dealership.
Clean the cover with a soft antistatic cloth
only. Cleaning and polishing products
could damage the surface.

❒clean every CD carefully to remove fin-
germarks or dust using a soft cloth. Hold
CDs by the outside and clean them from
the middle outwards;
❒never use chemicals (e.g. antistatics or
thinners or sprays) for cleaning as they
could damage the surface of the CDs;
❒after listening to the CDs, replace them
in their boxes to avoid them being
marked or scratched, which could cause
them to skip during playing; To remove fingerprints and dust, use a
soft cloth starting from the centre of the
CD moving outward.
Never use CDs that are very scratched,
cracked, distorted, etc. Their use could
cause damage the player or make it mal-
function.
The use of original CD supports is re-
quired for the best quality audio produc-
tion. Correct operation is not guaranteed
when CD-R/RW media are used that
were not correctly burned and/or with a
maximum capacity above 650 Mb.
WARNING Do not use commercially
available protective sheets for CDs or
discs with stabilisers as these could get
stuck in the internal mechanism and dam-
age the disc. CDs
Remember that the presence of dirt,
scratches or distortions to the CD could
cause skipping while it is playing and poor
sound quality. For optimum playback con-
ditions, follow these guidelines:
❒only use branded CDs:
❒never expose the CDs to direct sunlight,
high temperatures or moisture for ex-
tended periods of time, which could
cause them to become distorted;
❒do not stick labels on the CD surface
or write on the recorded surface with
pencil or pen.
To remove a CD from its container, press
down in the middle and lift up the disc,
holding it carefully around the outside.
Always take the CD by holding it around
its outside circumference. Never touch
the surface.

In addition, protected discs often do not
have they identification symbol for audio
discs on the actual disc (and on the casing): WARNING If a copy-protected CD is
used, it may take a few seconds before the
system will start to play it. In addition,
since many new and different protection
methods are continuously being intro-
duced, it is not possible to guarantee that
the CD player will play any protected CD.
The fact that the CD is protected from
being copied is often shown in very small
letters or is difficult to read on the actual
CD cover where it may be, for example,
“COPY CONTROL”, “COPY PRO-
TECTED”, “THIS CD CANNOT BE
PLAYED ON A PC/MAC”, or it may be
identified through the use of symbols, such
as, for example:TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Power output: 4 x 40 W
WARNING The CD player is capable of
reading most compression systems cur-
rently in use (e.g.: LAME, BLADE, XING,
FRAUNHOFER) but, following the devel-
opment of these systems, the reading of
all compression formats is not guaranteed.
WARNING If a multisession disc is loaded,
only the first session will be played.

AF function
(alternative frequency search)
The radio can operate in two different
modes in the RDS system:
❒“AF ON”: search for alternative fre-
quencies activated (the letters “AF” ap-
pear in the display);
❒“AF OFF”: search for alternative fre-
quencies not activated.
By turning the function on (“AF ON”
mode) the car radio will automatically
tune into the station with the strongest
signal that is transmitting the same pro-
gramme. While driving, you can continue
to listen to the same station without hav-
ing to change the frequency when you
change zones.
Obviously, it must be possible to receive
the station that you are listening to in the
area you are driving through.
To turn the AF function on/off, press the
MENU button, select “AF ON” or “AF
OFF”. If the AF function was turned on,
“AF” will appear in the display.
If the radio is tuned to a station in the AM
band when the AF function is turned on,
it will tune to the last selected station in
the FM1 band. TA function
(traffic news)
Some stations on the FM band (FM1, FM2
and FMT) can transmit information about
traffic conditions.
To turn the traffic update TA function
on/off briefly press the MENU button and
select “TA ON” or “TA OFF”.
WARNING If the TA (traffic update) func-
tion is activated in CD mode or with
Mute/Pause activated: the automatic
search for an enabled station will start.
With the TA function, it is possible to:
❒search only for RDS stations that trans-
mit on the FM band, which are enabled
to transmit traffic information;
❒receive traffic information even if the
CD player is on;
❒receive traffic information at a minimum
preset volume even with the radio vol-
ume off. MENU
MENU button functions
Press the MENU button briefly to activate
the Menu function. The display will show
the first available menu item.

the Menu functions. To change the setting
of the selected function, use the
¯or ˙buttons.
The current status of the function select-
ed will be shown on the display.
The functions managed by the Menu are:
❒AF (alternative frequency search);
❒TA (traffic news);
❒REG (regional programmes).
Press the MENU button for a while to ex-

RADIO
REG function
(regional transmission reception)
Some national broadcasters will transmit
regional programmes at certain times of
the day (that vary from region to region).
This function makes it possible to tune in-
to local (regional) broadcasters automat-
ically (see EON function paragraph).
If you want the radio to automatically tune
into the regional stations being broadcast
on the network selected, the function
must be activated.
To turn the function on/off, use the
¯or
˙buttons. The current status of the function will ap-
pear on the display:
❒“REG ON”: function activated.
❒“REG OFF”: function deactivated.
If the function is deactivated and you have
tuned into a regional station working in a
given area and you enter a different area,
then the regional station received in the
new area will be broadcast.
WARNING If the AF and REG functions
are on at the same time, once a border be-
tween two regions is crossed, the radio
may not switch correctly to a valid alter-
native frequency. WARNING In some countries there are
radio stations that, although enabled, do
not transmit traffic information.
If the radio is tuned to a station in the AM
band, when TA is activated it will tune to
the last selected station in the FM1 band.
The volume at which the traffic news
is transmitted depends on the listening
volume:
❒listening volume below 20: traffic news
volume 20 (fixed value);
❒listening volume above 20: traffic news
volume equal to listening volume +1.
If the volume is changed during the traffic
news, the level will not be shown on the
display; the new level will only be main-
tained during the update.
The TA function can be interrupted by
pressing any button on the car radio.
