Turn Signals
Move the multifunction lever upward or downward and
the corresponding turn signal indicator on the instru-
ment panel will flash to show proper operation of the
front and rear turn signal lights.Check for a defective outside light bulb if either light
remains on and does not flash or has a very fast flash rate.
If an indicator fails to light when the lever is moved, it
would suggest that the fuse or indicator is defective.
Turn Signal Auto-Mode
You can signal a lane change by moving the multifunc-
tion lever partially upward or downward without mov-
ing beyond the detent. The turn signal will automatically
flash three times, regardless of how long the lever is held.

25. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is part of
an onboard diagnostic system called OBD that
monitors emissions, engine, and automatic trans-
axle control systems. The light will illuminate when the
key is in the ON position before engine start. If the bulb
does not come on when turning the key from LOCK to
ON, have the condition checked promptly.
Certain conditions such as a loose or missing gas cap,
poor fuel quality, etc. may illuminate the light after
engine start. The vehicle should be serviced if the light
stays on through several of your typical driving cycles. In
most situations the vehicle will drive normally and will
not require towing. If the MIL flashes when the engine is running, serious
conditions may exist that could lead to immediate loss of
power or severe catalytic converter damage. The vehicle
should be serviced as soon as possible if this occurs.
26. High Beam Indicator
This light indicates that the headlights are on high
beam. Pull the turn signal lever toward the steer-
ing wheel to switch the headlights to low beam.
27. Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)
Display — Premium Cluster Only
This display shows the EVIC messages when the appro-
priate conditions exist. Refer to “Electronic Vehicle Infor-
mation Center (EVIC)” in this section for more
information.
