nEngine oil consumption
lThe amount of engine oil consumed depends on the oil viscosity, the
quality of the oil and the way the vehicle is driven.
lMore oil is consumed under driving conditions such as high speeds and
frequent acceleration and deceleration.
lA new engine consumes more oil.
lWhen judging the amount of oil consumption, keep in mind that the oil
may have become diluted, making it difficult to judge the true level accu−
rately.
nResetting the engine oil maintenance data
The oil change system should be reset. Perform the following procedures:
Switch the display to the trip meter A when the engine is running.
( P. 161)
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF.
While pressing the trip meter reset button, set the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch to IGNITION ON mode (but do not start the engine
because otherwise the reset mode will be cancelled). Continue to
press and hold the button until the multi−information display indi−
cates that the reset is complete.

Press and hold the tire pressure
warning reset switch until the tire
pressure warning light blinks
slowly three times and the mes−
sage “TIRE PRESSURE RESET
PROCEEDING” appears on the
multi−information display.
Wait for a few minutes with the IGNITION ON mode, and then
turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to OFF mode.

Maintenance and care
nInitializing the tire pressure warning system
Initialize the tires with the tire inflat
ion pressure adjusted to the specified
level.
nIf you press the tire pressure reset switch accidentally
If initialization is performed, adjust t
he tire inflation pressure to the speci−
fied level and initialize the tire pressure warning system again.
nWhen the initialization of the tire pressure warning system has
failed
Initialization can be comp leted in a few minutes. However, in the follow−
ing cases, the settings have not b
een recorded and the system will not
operate properly. If repeated attempts to record tire inflation pressure
settings are unsuccessful, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
lWhen operating the tire pressure warning reset switch, the warning
light does not flash 3 times and t
he setting message does not appear
on the multi−information display.
lAfter carrying out the initialization procedure, the tire pressure warn−
ing light blinks for 1 minute then stays on after driving for about 20
minutes.
nRoutine tire inflation pressure checks
The tire pressure warning system doe
s not replace routine tire inflation
pressure checks. Make su re to check tire inflation pressure as part of
your routine of daily vehicle checks.

CAUTION
n Tire pressure warning system operation
The tire pressure warning system may not provide warning immediately
if a tire bursts or if
sudden air leakage occurs.
n When inspecting or replacing tires
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents. Failure to do so
may cause damage to parts of the drive train, as well as dangerous han−
dling characteristics, which may le
ad to fatal or injury accidents.
lDo not mix tires of different makes, models, tread patterns or tread−
wear.
lDo not use tire sizes other than those recommended by Toyota.
lDo not mix radial, bias−belted, or bias−ply tires.
lDo not mix summer, all season and winter tires.
lDo not use tire that have been used on another vehicle.
Do not use tires if you do not know they were used previously.
n When initializing the tire pressure warning system
Do not press the tire pressure warning reset switch without first adjusting
the tire inflation pressure to the spec
ified level. Otherwise, the tire pres−
sure warning light may not come on ev en if the tire inflation pressure is
low, or it may come on when the tire
inflation pressure is actually normal.
NOTICE
n Repairing or replacing tires, wheels and tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters
When removing or fitting the wheels, tires or the tire pressure warning
valve and transmitter, contact your Toyota dealer as the tire pressure
warning valve and transmitter may be damaged if not handled correctly.
n To avoid damaging the tire pressure warning valves and transmit
ters
Do not use liquid sealants on flat tires.

nResetting the tire pressure warning data
After adjusting the tire inflation pressure, be sure to initialize the data.
(P. 393)
If the message remains on, the system may have malfunctioned. Have the
vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer as soon as possible.
nWarning messages in the cruise control mode
In the following instances, there is a possibility that the approach warning will
not illuminate even when vehicle−to−vehicle distance is closing.
lWhen the speed of the vehicle ahead matches or exceeds your vehicle’s
speed.
lWhen the vehicle ahead is traveling at an extremely slow speed.
lImmediately after the cruise control speed has been set.
l
At the instant the accelerator is applied.
NOTICE
nEngine oil maintenance message
The warning message is based on the projected driving range after engine
oil maintenance message is reset.
The system does not monitor the purity of the engine oil.
