SAFETY
TYRE UNDER-INFLATION DETECTION
System which automatically checks the
pressure of the tyres while driving. All repairs and changing of tyres on
a w h e e l fi t t e d w i t h t h i s s y s t e m m u s t
be carried out by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
If, when changing a tyre, you in-
stall a wheel which is not detected
b y y o u r v e h i c l e ( e x a m p l e : fi t t i n g
of snow tyres), you must have the
system reinitialised by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
This system does not eliminate
the need to have the tyre pres-
sure checked regularly (refer to the
" I d e n t i fi c a t i o n f e a t u r e s " p a r a g r a p h )
to ensure that the optimum dynamic
performance of the vehicle is main-
tained and prevent premature wear
of the tyres, particularly in arduous
driving conditions (heavy load, high
speed).
The tyre pressures must be
checked cold, at least once a
month. Remember to check the
pressure of the spare wheel.
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system may experience temporary
interference due to radioelectric
emissions on a frequency close to
that used by the system.
S e n s o r s fi t t e d i n e a c h v a l v e t r i g g e r a
warning in the event of malfunction
(speed above 12 mph (20 km/h)).
This warning light is displayed
on the instrument panel and/or
a message appears on the mul-
tifunction display, accompanied
by an audible signal, to locate
the wheel concerned.
Check the tyre pressures as soon as possible.
This check must be carried out when
the tyres are cold.
Flat tyre The
STOP warning light comes
on and/or this warning light is
displayed on the instrument
panel, accompanied by an au-
dible signal and a message on the mul-
tifunction display locating the wheel
concerned.
Stop immediately, avoiding any sud- den movement of the steering wheel
and the brakes.
Change the damaged wheel (punc- t u r e d o r v e r y d e fl a t e d t y r e ) , a n d
have the tyre pressure checked as
soon as possible.
Puncture
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system is an aid to driving which does
not replace the need for the driver to
be vigilant or to drive responsibly. Sensor(s) not detected or faulty
This warning light is displayed
on the instrument panel and/or
a message appears on the mul-
tifunction display, accompanied
by an audible signal, to locate the wheel
or wheels which are not detected or to
indicate a fault in the system.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to replace
the faulty sensor(s).
This message is also displayed
when one of the wheels is away
from the vehicle (being repaired) or
when one or more wheels without a
s e n s o r a r e fi t t e d .

BRAKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
Group of supplementary systems which
help you to obtain optimum braking in
complete safety in emergency situa-
tions:
- the anti-lock braking system (ABS),
- the electronic brake force distribu-tion (EBFD),
- the emergency braking assistance (EBA).
Anti-lock braking system
and electronic brake force
distribution
Linked systems which improve the sta-
bility and manoeuvrability of your vehi-
cle when braking, in particular on poor
or slippery surfaces.
When braking in an emergency,
p r e s s v e r y fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g
the pressure. When replacing wheels (tyres and
rims), ensure that they conform to
the manufacturer's recommenda-
tions.
Operating fault
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the mul-
ti-function display, it indicates a
malfunction of the anti-lock braking sys-
tem which could result in loss of control
of the vehicle when braking.
If this warning light comes on,
together with the STOP and
ABS warning lights, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction display, it
indicates a malfunction of the electron-
ic brake force distribution which could
result in loss of control of the vehicle
when braking.
You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.
In both cases, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer. Emergency braking assistance
System which, in an emergency, ena-
bles you to obtain the optimum braking
pressure more quickly, thus reducing
the stopping distance.
Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when there
is a risk of wheel lock.
Normal operation of the ABS may make
itself felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal. Activation
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is pressed.
The effect of this is a reduction in the
resistance of the pedal and an increase
i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .
When braking in an emergency,
p r e s s fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g t h e
pressure.

SAFETY
The ESP/ASR systems offer excep-
tional safety in normal driving, but
this should not encourage the driver
to take extra risks or drive at high
speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and opera-
tion procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Disarming
In exceptional conditions (starting a
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground, ...), it may be
advisable to disarm the ASR and ESP
systems, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
Press the
"ESP OFF" button, located
in the centre of the fascia.
If this warning light comes on
on the instrument panel and
the indicator light on the button
comes on, this indicates that
the ASR and ESP systems are
disarmed.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automati-
cally each time the ignition is switched
back on or from 30 mph (50 km/h).
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually. Operating fault
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multi-
function display, this indicates a
malfunction of these systems.
Have the systems checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
TRAJECTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started.
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme (ESP)
The anti-skid regulation optimises trac-
tion to prevent skidding of the wheels,
by acting on the brakes of the driving
wheels and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
t r a j e c t o r y r e q u i r e d b y t h e d r i v e r .
They come into operation in the event
o f a g r i p o r t r a j e c t o r y p r o b l e m .

this warning light on the instru-
ment panel.

ROLL-OVER BARS
System which protects all of the oc-
cupants restrained by their seat belt
should the vehicle roll over.
The roll-over bars are incorporated in
the back of the rear bench seat. Their
presence is indicated by the words
"Rollover Protection".
Activation
They are triggered simultaneously
should the vehicle roll over.
Operating fault If this warning light comes on on
the instrument panel, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction
display, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system
checked. In order to guarantee the correct
operation and the deployment of
the roll-over bars if roll-over is de-
tected, the following conditions
must be complied with:
- no accessory which is not
recommended by PEUGEOT
should be in contact with or
fi x e d t o t h e r o l l - o v e r b a r s ,
- n o o b j e c t s h o u l d b l o c k o r s t o p the movement of the roll-over
bars,
- the area above the roll-over bars s h o u l d b e c l e a r o f a n y o b j e c t s .

SEAT BELTS
Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
This system improves safety in the front
seats in the event of a front impact.
Depending on the severity of the im-
pact, the pretensioning system instantly
tightens the seat belts against the body
of the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt on the chest of the occu-
pant, so increasing his protection. Seat belt not fastened/unfastened
warning light
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened correctly by pulling the strap.
When the ignition is switched
on, this warning light comes on,
either on the instrument panel or
on the seat belt and passenger's
front air bag warning lights dis-
play, if the driver and/or the front passen-
ger has not fastened his seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up.
1. Front and/or rear seat belts not
fastened/unfastened warning light.
2. Front left seat belt warning light.
3. Front right seat belt warning light.
4. Rear right seat belt warning light.
5. Rear left seat belt warning light.
Seat belt not fastened/unfastened
warning lights display
The corresponding warning light
2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger's front air bag warning lights
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h)

accompanied by an audible signal of in-
creasing volume. Once these two min-
utes have elapsed, this warning light
remains on until the driver and/or the
front passenger fastens his seat belt.

Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e e a c h fi t t e d w i t h a

force limiter. Seat belt unfastened warning light This warning light comes on,
either on the instrument panel
or on the seat belt and passen-
ger's front air bag warning lights
display, when one or more rear passen-
gers unfasten their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h),
t h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n -
utes accompanied by an audible signal
of increasing volume. Once these two
minutes have elapsed, this warning
light remains on until the one or more
rear passengers fasten their seat belt.
Fastening
Remove the strap from the guide
A
before use.
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened correctly by pulling the strap. Seat belt unfastened warning lights

When the ignition is switched on, with
the engine running or the vehicle mov-
ing at a speed below approximately
12 mph (20 km/h), the corresponding
warning lights
4 and 5 come on in red
for approximately 30 seconds, if the
seat belt is not fastened.
When the vehicle is moving at a speed
of more than approximately 12 mph
(20 km/h), the corresponding warning
light 4 or 5 comes on in red, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction display, if a
rear passenger has unfastened his seat
belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.

If at least one of the two air bag
warning lights come on continu-
ously, do not install a child seat on
the front passenger seat.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Operating fault
If this warning light comes on on
the instrument panel, accompa-
nied by an audible warning and
a message on the multifunction
display, contact a PEUGEOT dealer to
have the system checked. The air bags
may no longer be triggered in the event
of a serious impact.
Reactivation
When you remove the child seat, turn
switch 1 to the "ON" position to re-arm
the air bag and so guarantee the safety
of your front passenger in the event of
an impact.
With the ignition on, this warn-
ing light comes on on the seat
belt and passenger's front air
bag warning lights display for
approximately one minute, if the pas-
senger's front air bag is activated. To guarantee the safety of your
child, it is imperative that the pas-
senger's front air bag is disarmed
when you install a "rear facing"
child seat on the front passenger
seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
i n g s e r i o u s l y i n j u r e d o r k i l l e d i f t h e
air bag were triggered.
According to version, this warning
light comes on either on the
instrument panel or on the seat
belt and passenger's front air bag
warning lights display when the ignition is
on and until the air bag is re-armed. I f t h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s ,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
The passenger's front air bag
may no longer be triggered in
the event of a serious impact.
Deactivation
Only the passenger's front air bag can
be disarmed:
with the ignition off, insert the key
in the passenger air bag disarming
switch 1 ,
turn it to the "OFF" position,
then, remove the key keeping the switch in this position.

Side air bags
System which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a seri-
ous side impact in order to limit the risk
o f i n j u r y t o t h e p e l v i s , c h e s t a n d h e a d .
The side air bags are incorporated on
the door side:
- on the one hand, in the front seat back frame (chest-pelvis air bag),
- on the other hand, in the front head restraint (head air bag).
Activation
The side air bags are triggered unilater-
ally in the event of a serious side impact
applied to all or part of the side impact
zone B , perpendicular to the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal
plane and directed from the outside to-
wards the inside of the vehicle.

Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone. If this warning light on the instru-
ment panel comes on, accom-
panied by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction
display, contact a PEUGEOT dealer to
have the system checked. The air bags
may no longer be triggered in the event
of a serious impact.
In the event of a light impact or
bump to the side of the vehicle of
if the vehicle rolls over, the air bags
may not be triggered.
In the event of a rear or front col-
lision, the air bags are not trig-
gered.
