IMPORTANT REMARKS ON THE
SUPPLIED HEADPHONES
KS-HP2
❒Do not leave the headphones exposed
to direct sunlight, e.g. on the dashboard,
for long because they may be damaged.
❒Keep the headphones far from mobile
phones to avoid interferences.
❒Do not switch the unit off when the
disc is being played at high volume. The
next time the headphones are used,
high volume levels and sudden switch-
on may damage both the headphones
and your hearing.
❒If you hear whistles in your ears, reduce
the volume or take the headphones off.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USING
THE LCD PANEL
❒Do not expose the LCD panel to direct
sunlight.
❒If the car needs to be parked in espe-
cially hot or cold places for long, wait
until the temperature inside the car be-
comes stable before switching the head-
phones on.
❒Headphones storage temperature
range: from –40°C to +85°C.
❒When the LCD panel reaches ex-
tremely high or low temperatures,
chemical changes occur inside the pan-
el which may cause operating problems.IMPORTANT The LCD panel was de-
signed with high precision technology and
ensures a min. image pixel level of 99.99%.
It is, however, worth considering that
0.01% of the panel may display missing pix-
els or invariably bright pixels.
❒Do not drop the LCD panel or hit it
vigorously.
❒Red, blue and green dots on the LCD
panel surface are normal for this type
of product and do not indicate any mal-
functioning.
The temperature in
summer reaches up
to 100°C.
Dots
❒When the temperature is extremely
high or low, the image may not appear
clearly or may move slowly. In these
conditions the image may lose syn-
chronisation with the audio, and the
quality of the image may be remarkably
lower. This, however, does not indicate
any malfunctioning or problem.

IMPORTANT REMARKS
❒The batteries supplied are not
rechargeable. DO NOT attempt to
recharge them: acid may leak out or ex-
plosions take place.
❒Acid leaking and explosions are pre-
vented by installing the batteries so that
their poles, “+” and “–”, are in the cor-
rect direction.OPERATIONS PRIOR TO USING
THE WIRELESS HEADPHONES
The best performance is obtained from
the headphones when they are used at ap-
prox. 1.8 m from IR transmitters. These
headphones were designed to receive in-
frared rays (IR) from the IR transmitter
of the monitor. This means that, when the
headphones are used in positions where
the signal does not arrive, noise is heard.
Infrared transmitter
MAIN COMPONENTS AND
FEATURES
Left-hand sideRight-hand side
1Infrared sensors
• Do not cover the infrared sensors:
this prevents reception.
2ON/OFF button
• Is used to switch the headphones on
or off.
• The unit is disabled automatically in
the following cases:
when the headphones are not used for
approx. 4 hours;
when no signal is received for approx.
4 minutes.
3POWER indicator
4VOL (volume) test
Audio is conveyed to the wireless head-
phones by an infrared transmitter.
To enable headphones operation select
HEADPHONES or HEADPHONES/AUX
in the AUDIO option of the monitor
menu (see page 16).
IMPORTANT Do not wear the head-
phones while driving. It prevents hearing
external sounds, which poses risks and
causes serious accidents.

PLAYING THE DISCS
The type of disc is automatically identified
when the disc is played back (with DVDs:
automatic playback start depends on the
program inside the disc).
This apparatus is used to play audio files
(MP3/WMA/WAV), image files (JPEG) and
films (MPEG-1/MPEG-2/DivX) recorded
on the disc. Before the unit plays a disc
containing different file types from those
it can read, the new disc type must be
specified in the DVD setting menu (see
page 31).
If the current disc is not a DVD or VCD
supplied with a PBC function, all the tracks
are played continuously until the source is
changed or the disc is ejected.
If a menu or title list appears after load-
ing the disc, refer to section “Operations
with the disc menu” on page 26 for fur-
ther information. The following symbols are used to indicate
playable discs:
Video DVD Video CD with PBC
Video CD
w/without PBCAudio CD/CD
Text
MP3/WMA/MAV
discJPEG disc
DivX disc MPEG-1/
MPEG-2 disc
All the discs listed
IMPORTANT Disc playback controls are
mainly performed using the remote con-
trol. However, they are basically the same
as those on the apparatus if they have the
same name or ID.
If icon “ ” appears on the screen when
a button is pressed, the corresponding op-
eration is not allowed.
An operation may not be allowed, even if
icon “ ” is not displayed.
STARTING PLAYBACK
1 - Open the LCD panel.
IMPORTANT The disc can be played even
with the monitor closed.
2 - Switch the apparatus on.
3 - Load a disc in the tray.
The side to be played (iridescent)
must be facing downwards.
IMPORTANT Do not load the disc when
the apparatus is off.
