4. Push the air compressor inator hose onto the
tire valve stem and push the lever down to
secure in place.
5. Plug the air compressor accessory plug into an
accessory power outlet in the vehicle. SeeAccessory
Power Outlet(s) on page 3-20for more information.
{CAUTION:
Idling the engine in a closed-in place or with
the climate control system off can cause
deadly carbon monoxide (CO). SeeEngine
Exhaust on page 2-37.
6. Start the vehicle. SeeStarting the Engine (Key
Access) on page 2-25for more information.
The vehicle must be running while using the
air compressor.
{CAUTION:
Inating something too much can make it
explode, and you or others could be injured.
Be sure to read the inator instructions, and
inate the tire to its recommended pressure.
Do not exceed 36 psi (248 kPa).
7. Push the sealant and compressor kit switch to
the I (on) position.
8. Inate the tire up to the recommended ination
pressure using the air pressure gage on the top
of the unit.
The pressure gage reads high while the compressor
is running. Turn the compressor off to get an
accurate reading. SeeInflation - Tire Pressure on
page 5-60for more information.

9. Turn off the air compressor by moving the switch to
the O (off) position.
{CAUTION:
Storing the tire sealant and compressor kit
or other equipment in the passenger
compartment of the vehicle could cause injury.
In a sudden stop or collision, loose equipment
could strike someone. Store the tire sealant
and compressor kit in the proper place.
10. Disconnect the compressor inator hose and wrap
the hose in the bottom of the sealant and
compressor kit.
11. Place the equipment in its original location.
Removal and Installation of the
Sealant Canister
To remove the sealant canister, do the following:
1. Unlock the air compressor inator hose from the
sealant canister by pulling the lever up.
2. Disconnect the air compressor inator hose from
the sealant canister.
3. Unwrap the sealant lling hose from the
compressor.

4. Turn the sealant canister so the inator lling hose
is aligned with the slot in the compressor.
5. Lift the sealant canister from the compressor and
replace with a new sealant canister. See your
dealer/retailer for more information.To install a new sealant canister, do the following:
1. Align the sealant lling hose with the slot in the
air compressor.
2. Push the sealant canister down and turn it
clockwise.
3. Wrap the sealant lling hose around the air
compressor channel to stow it in its original location.
4. Push the air compressor inator hose onto the
sealant canister inlet and push the lever down.

Changing a Flat Tire (Vehicles with
spare tire)
If a tire goes at, avoid further tire and wheel damage by
driving slowly to a level place. Turn on your hazard
warning ashers.
{CAUTION:
Changing a tire can be dangerous. The vehicle
can slip off the jack and roll over or fall on you
or other people. You and they could be badly
injured or even killed. Find a level place to
change your tire. To help prevent the vehicle
from moving:
1. Set the parking brake rmly.
2. Put an automatic transmission shift lever in
PARK (P), or shift a manual transmission to
FIRST (1) or REVERSE (R).

3. Turn off the engine and do not restart
while the vehicle is raised.
4. Do not allow passengers to remain in the
vehicle.
To be even more certain the vehicle will not
move, you should put blocks at the front and
rear of the tire farthest away from the one
being changed. That would be the tire on the
other side, at the opposite end of the vehicle.

When you have a at tire, use the following example as
a guide to assist you in the placement of wheel blocks.
The following information will tell you how to use the
jack and change a tire.Removing the Spare Tire and Tools
If your vehicle is equipped with a spare tire, the jack,
wheel wrench, and spare tire are stowed in the rear of
the vehicle, underneath the oor of the cargo area.
To remove the spare tire and tools:
1. Open the liftgate. SeeLiftgate on page 2-12for
more information.
2. Remove the cargo cover.

3. Turn the retainer counterclockwise to remove the
tire cover.
4. Remove the tire cover.
5. Remove the spare tire by placing your hands at the
four and eight o’clock positions. Gently pull it up
and out of the trunk. SeeCompact Spare Tire
on page 5-109.
6. Remove the wing nut that holds the jack. Then
remove the jack, wheel wrench, and at tire strap.The tools needed are the jack (A) and wheel wrench (B).

Turn the plastic wheel nut counterclockwise to loosen
the wheel wrench from the jack.Press the button and then pull on the end of the wheel
wrench to extend the handle.

Removing the Flat Tire and
Installing the Spare Tire (SS Model)
The SS Model has larger performance brakes than
the Base Model. The compact spare tire will not clear
the front brakes.
Do not use the compact spare tire in the event of a front
at tire.
You must use the rear tire to replace the front at tire.To change the rear road tire:
Rear Tire Changing Procedure
1. Do a safety check before proceeding. SeeChanging
a Flat Tire on page 5-86for more information.
2. Using the wheel wrench, loosen all the wheel nuts
on the rear tire. Do not remove them yet.
