The transmitter and battery are located in the head of the remote
control. The r eceiver is locat ed ins ide th e vehicle . Th e maximum
ef fective range depends on several th ings. Remember, if the battery
is weak, the effective range decreases.
If you need to replace the remote contro l, or if you need to have it
repaired, you must see your authorized Audi dealer. On ly then can
you use the key again .

When the ignition is turned off or when the vehicle is locked, various convenience set tings are stored automatical ly and assigned to the
key that was used . The settings assigned to the key are automati ­
cally recalled with you unloc k the vehicle or when you open a door
or when you switch on the igni tion .

The
Remo te co ntrol ke y function must be activated in MMI
~ page 95, so that the settings fo r the driver's seat (including the
settings for the head restraint, steering column , safety be lt height
and exterior mirrors) are saved on the master key through the seat
memory when the vehicle is locked, and are set automatically when
the vehic le is unlock ed.

• If the ignition is switched on, the remote control system is deac ­
tivated .
• The remote control system can be affected by other systems
opera ting in the same frequency range close to the vehicle, such as
mobile tel ephones, television broadcasting stations, etc. •

The socket of the ci gare tte l ighter may be used for 12-volt appli ­
ances with maximum consumption of up to 100 watts , such as a
flash light, small vacuum c leaner, etc .
Before you purchase any accessories , always read and fo llow the

& WARNING
Improper use of the cigarette lighter can cause ser ious injury or
start a fire .
• Be careful when using the cigarette lighter . If you do not pay
attention to what you are do ing when you are using the cigarette
lighter you can burn yourself .
• The cigarette lighter and socket remain functional even if the
ignition is switched off or the ignition key is removed. Never leave
c hildren inside the vehi cle without supervision.

• To avoid damaging the s ocket , only use plugs tha t fit pr operly.
• Only use the cigarette lighter socket as a power source for elec ­
tr ical accesso ries for sh ort du rations. Use the sockets in the vehic le
when a power source is needed for longer durations .

T here are three storage co mpartments in the long center console in
t he rear :
Left storage compartment
The le ft sto rage c om partm ent co ntain s two 12 -v o lt so ckets. The 12 -
volt sockets can be used for electrica l accessories. The power
co nsumption a t a sing le plug mus t no t exceed 100 watts .
Center storage compartment
Th e cen te r storag e compar tment is suitabl e fo r hol ding small items .
Right storage compartment
T he right storage co mpart ment is suita ble for hold ing smal l items.
& WARNING
T he socket plus any appliances plugged into it remain functional
even if the ignition is switched off or the ignition key is removed.
Never leave children in side the vehicle without supervision.

-Never install seat covers or replacement upholstery over the
front seatbacks that have not been specifically approved by
Audi .
- Never use additional seat cushions that cover the areas
where the side airbags inflate.
- Damage to the original seat covers or to the seam in the area
of the side airbag module must always be repaired immedi ­
ately by an authorized Audi dealer .
• The airbag system can be activated only once. After an airbag
has inflated , it must be replaced by an authorized Audi dealer or
qualified technician who has the technical information , training
and special equipment necessary .
• The airbag system can be deployed only once . After an airbag
has been deployed , it must be replaced with new replacement
parts designed and approved especially for your Audi model
version . Replacement of complete airbag systems or airbag
components must be performed by qualified workshops only .
Make sure that any airbag service action is entered in your Audi
Warranty
& Maintenance booklet under AIRBAG REPLACEMENT
RECORD .
• For safety reasons in severe accidents , the alternator and
starter are separated from the vehicle battery with a pyrotechnic
circuit interrupter .
- Work on the pyrotechnic circuit interrupter must only be
performed by a qualified dealer
-risk of an accident!
- If the vehi cle or the circuit interrupter is scrapped, all appli ­
cable safety precautions must be followed .

performance
C han ging the vehic le 's suspens ion system can change the way that
t h e Ad va n ce d Ai rbag Sys tem perfo rm s in a crash. F or e xam ple,
using ti re -r im comb inations not app rov ed by Audi, lower ing the
ve hic le , ch angi ng th e st iff ne ss of the su sp en sion , in cludin g the
springs, suspension struts, shock absorbers etc . can cha nge the
forc es that are measu re d b y th e a irbag sens ors a nd sen t to the e lec ­
t ronic con trol un it. Some suspens ion chan ges can, for exa mple,
i nc rea se the force le v e ls mea sured by the sen so rs and make the
a irb ag sys tem de plo y i n cras hes in whi ch it wo uld not de plo y if the
changes had not been made . Other kinds of changes may reduce
t h e force leve ls m easured by t he se nso rs a nd p reve nt t he a irba g
from deploy ing when it should .
