This indicates the distance which
can still be travelled with the fuel re-
maining in the tank based on the av-
erage fuel consumption over the last
few miles (kilometres) travelled. T h i s fi g u r e m a y i n c r e a s e f o l l o w -
ing a change in the style of driving
o r t e r r a i n , r e s u l t i n g i n a s i g n i fi c a n t
change in the current fuel con-
sumption.
When the range falls below 20 miles
(30 km), dashes are displayed. After
fi l l i n g w i t h a t l e a s t 5 l i t r e s o f f u e l ,
the range is recalculated and is dis-
p l a y e d w h e n i t e x c e e d s 6 0 m i l e s
(100 km).
If dashes are displayed continu-
ously while driving in place of the
digits, contact a CITROËN dealer. This function is only displayed
above 20 mph (30 km/h).
This is the average fuel consump-
tion during the last few seconds.
This is the average fuel consump-
tion since the last trip computer zero
reset.
This indicates the distance travelled
since the last trip computer zero reset. This is the average speed calculat-
ed since the last trip computer zero
reset (ignition on).

Engine autodiagnostics system If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
the engine management
system.
I f i t fl a s h e s , i t i n d i c a t e s t h e o c c u r r e n c e o f
a fault in the emission control system.
Maximum coolant temperature If this comes on, it indicates
that the temperature in the
cooling system is too high.
Stop the vehicle immediately
and as safely as possible.
Check the coolant level.
If the level is low, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
Fuel low
If this comes on, it indicates
that the range remaining
i s a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 m i l e s
(50 km).
It may be less than this in certain
driving conditions and depending on
the engine.
T h e c a p a c i t y o f t h e t a n k i s a p p r o x i -
mately 71 litres. Battery charge
If this comes on, it indi-
cates the occurrence of a
fault in the battery charging
circuit (dirty or loose termi-
nals, slack or cut alternator
belt...).
Seat belt not fastened/
unfastened *

This warning lamp lights
up on the instrument panel
to remind the driver and all
passengers that they must
fasten their seat belt.
It is linked to the seat belt informa-
tion given by the roof console. Seat belt non-fastening/
unfastening
This warning lamp
informs you of the
non-fastening and
unfastening of the
driver and passenger seat belts.
The illuminated positions represent
the passengers whose seat belts
are not fastened/unfastened.
Driver’s seat belt not fastened:
- The warning lamp lights up be- tween 0 and 12 mph (20 km/h).
A b o v e 1 2 m p h , i t fl a s h e s a c -
companied by a sound signal for
around 120 seconds.
Front and rear passenger seat belts
not fastened:
- When the ignition is switched on, the points corresponding to
the seat positions with seat belts
not fastened remain lit up for
30 seconds.
Seat belts unfastened during the
journey:
- The point corresponding to the seat position with seat belt un-
fastened lights up between 0 and
12 mph (20 km/h). Above
1 2 m p h , i t fl a s h e s a c c o m p a n i e d
by an audible signal for around
120 seconds. The audible signal
stops when the seat belt is re-
fastened or if a door is opened.

Engine oil temperature gauge
Under normal operating conditions,
the bars should be within section 1 .
In severe operating conditions, the
b a r s m a y e x t e n d i n t o s e c t i o n 2 .
In this event, slow down, and if neces-
sary, stop the engine and check the
levels (see corresponding chapter). Coolant temperature
indicator
Under normal operating conditions,
the bars should be within section
1 .
In severe operating conditions, the

engine coolant temperature warning
lamp A and the STOP warning lamp
will light up, stop immediately . Switch
off the ignition. The cooling fan may
continue to operate for a certain
time .
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
If the SERVICE warning lamp lights
up, check the levels (see correspon-
ding chapter). On horizontal ground, the lighting of
the fuel low warning lamp warns you
that you are at the reserve level.
A message alert is displayed on the
instrument panel.

Air conditioning
We recommend use of the automatic
regulation of the air conditioning.
It permits automatic and optimised
control of all of the following func-
t i o n s : a i r fl o w , t e m p e r a t u r e i n t h e
passenger compartment and air
distribution, by means of various
s e n s o r s ( e x t e r i o r t e m p e r a t u r e , s u n -
shine). This eliminates any need for
you to change your settings other
than the temperature value dis-
played.
Please do not block the sunshine
sensor A .
If you select the automatic mode (by
pressing the "AUTO" control) and
leave all of the vents open, optimum
comfort will be maintained and humid-
ity and condensation will be removed
r e g a r d l e s s o f t h e e x t e r i o r c l i m a t i c c o n -
ditions.
The temperature in the passenger
compartment can only be lower than
t h e e x t e r i o r t e m p e r a t u r e i f t h e a i r
conditioning is on.
VENTILATION, HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING RECOMMENDATIONS
In order to be effective, the air condi-
tioning must be used with the windows
closed. If the vehicle has been parked
in the sun for a long period and the in-
terior temperature is very high, venti-
late the passenger compartment with
the windows open for a few minutes,
then close the windows.
To keep the air conditioning system
in good working order it is essential
that it is operated at least once a
month.
The air conditioning uses the engine
power during its operation. As a result,
the fuel consumption of the vehicle in-
creases.
In certain cases of particularly ardu-
o u s u s e ( e . g . t o w i n g t h e m a x i m u m
load on a steep gradient in high tem-
peratures), switching off the air condi-
tioning permits the recovery of engine
power and therefore increases the
towing capacity.
Air inlet
C h e c k t h a t t h e e x t e r i o r g r i l l e f o r t h e
air inlet, at the bottom of the wind-
screen, is clean and free of dead
leaves, snow, etc.
When washing the vehicle using a
high pressure nozzle, avoid spray-
ing at the air inlet. Air circulation
M a x i m u m c o m f o r t i s o b t a i n e d b y
means of a good distribution of air in
the passenger compartment, both in
the front and in the rear.
To obtain a uniform distribution of
a i r , t a k e c a r e n o t t o b l o c k t h e e x -
terior air intake grille located at the
base of the windscreen, the vents,
the air outlets under the front seats
a n d t h e a i r e x t r a c t o r l o c a t e d b e h i n d
t h e fl a p s i n t h e b o o t .
T h e f r o n t a n d r e a r v e n t s a r e fi t t e d
with thumbwheels to adjust the air
fl o w a n d d i r e c t i o n . W e r e c o m m e n d
that you leave all of the vents open.
Dust filter/Odour filter
(active carbon)

and dust.
T h i s fi l t e r h a s t o b e c h a n g e d i n a c -
cordance with the vehicle mainte-
nance schedule (see: "Maintenance
and Warranty Guide").

tilation to the windscreen and front
side windows.
R e s u m i n g m a n u a l c o n t r o l e x i t s f r o m
"Demisting" mode. It must be can-
celled to permit renewal of the air
in the passenger compartment and
demisting.
Once the screen is clear, press-
ing control 1 returns the system to
"AUTO" mode.
Press control 7 , with
the engine running, to
demist the rear screen
and the mirrors. The in-
dicator lamp comes on.
Demisting is switched off automatically
t o p r e v e n t a n e x c e s s i v e c o n s u m p t i o n
o f c u r r e n t a n d i n r e l a t i o n t o t h e e x t e r i o r
temperature.
It may be stopped by pressing con-
trol 7 again or when the engine is
switched off.
7. Rear demisting - de-icing
The heated rear screen operates in-
dependently of the air conditioning
system.
8. Intake of exterior air/
Recirculation of interior air
This function enables you to isolate
the passenger compartment from
e x t e r i o r f u m e s a n d o d o u r s . - When starting with the engine
c o l d , t h e fl o w w i l l r e a c h i t s o p -
timum level gradually to pre-
v e n t a n e x c e s s i v e d i s t r i b u t i o n
of cold air.
- When entering the vehicle af- ter it has been parked for a
fairly long period, if the inte-
rior temperature is very differ-
ent from your comfort setting
there is no need to change
the temperature displayed
in order to quickly reach the
level of comfort required. The
system automatically uses its
m a x i m u m p e r f o r m a n c e t o c o r -
rect the difference in tempera-
ture as quickly as possible.
- The water resulting from the air conditioning condensation
is discharged via an open-
ing provided for this purpose;
therefore, a puddle of water
may form underneath the ve-
hicle when stationary.
- In all seasons, if the weather is cool, the air conditioning
is useful as it removes the
humidity from the air and the
condensation. Avoid driving
for prolonged periods with the
air conditioning switched off.
However, demisting resumes when
the engine is switched on again.

several passengers, ice).
Press control 9 to clear the win-
dows quickly. The indicator light
comes on.
This system controls the temperature,
a i r fl o w a n d i n t a k e a n d d i s t r i b u t e s t h e
ventilation to the windscreen and front
side windows.
R e s u m i n g m a n u a l c o n t r o l e x i t s f r o m
the "Demisting" mode. It must be
cancelled as soon as possible to
permit renewal of the air in the pas-
senger compartment and demisting.
Pressing one of the controls 1a and
1b returns the system to the "AUTO"
mode.
8. Rear demisting - de-icing

operates independently
of the air conditioning
system.
Press control 8 , with the en-
gine running, to demist the rear
screen and the mirrors. The indi-
cator light comes on.
Demisting is switched off automatically

c u r r e n t a n d d e p e n d i n g o n t h e e x t e r i o r
temperature.
It may be stopped by pressing con-
trol 8 again or when the engine is
switched off.
In this latter case, the demisting
resumes if the engine is switched on
again within one minute.

Precautions in use:
The alarm volumetric movement
sensor may be disturbed by the air-
fl o w f r o m t h e p r o g r a m m a b l e h e a t i n g
while in operation.
To avoid a false alarm while using the
programmable heating, it is recom-
mended to deactivate the volumetric
protection. Always switch off the program-
mable heating while refuelling in
o r d e r t o a v o i d t h e r i s k o f fi r e o r
e x p l o s i o n .
T o a v o i d a n y r i s k o f i n t o x i c a t i o n o r
a s p h y x i a t i o n , t h e a d d i t i o n a l h e a t -
ing must not be used, even for
short periods, in an enclosed area
such as a garage or workshop not
e q u i p p e d w i t h a s y s t e m f o r t h e e x -
t r a c t i o n o f e x h a u s t g a s e s .
Do not park the vehicle over in-
fl a m m a b l e m a t e r i a l s ( e . g . d r y
grass, dead leaves or paper) as
t h i s c o u l d p r e s e n t a fi r e r i s k .
The programmable heating sys-
tem is supplied by the vehicle’s
fuel tank. Before use, ensure that
the remaining fuel level is suf-
fi c i e n t . I f y o u a r e o n t h e r e s e r v e
fuel level , we strongly advise you
not to use the programmable
heating system.
