FUEL TANK
Capacity of the tank: approxi-
mately 71 litres.
Low fuel level
When the minimum level
in the tank is reached,
this warning lamp comes
on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an audible
warning and a message on the mul-
tifunction screen.
You have enough fuel left to drive
approximately 30 miles (approx.
50 km).
Press at the top left corner, then
pull open from the left.
turn the key a quarter turn to lock
a n d u n l o c k t h e fi l l e r c a p ,
when refuelling, place the cap on
hook A ,
fi l l t h e t a n k , b u t do not persist
after the third cut-off ; this could
cause your vehicle to malfunc-
tion.
While you are refuelling, the en-
gine must be stopped and the ig-
nition switched off.
For a petrol engine with a cata-
lytic converter, unleaded fuel is
compulsory.

Fuel quality

which type of fuel to use.
The petrol engines are designed to
run on RON 95.
However, for better performance
(petrol engine), we recommend
RON 98.
In winter conditions, starting from
c o l d m a y s o m e t i m e s s e e m d i f fi c u l t .
During periods of very cold weather
we recommend the use of 95 or 98
unleaded petrol in preference to
E85 so as to ensure optimum start-
ing performance.
BioFlex engine
A B i o fl e x v e h i c l e i s o n e t h a t h a s
been designed to operate equally
on unleaded petrol (95 or 98 RON)
or on bioethanol (in Europe this is a
m i x t u r e o f 8 5 % e t h a n o l a n d 1 5 %
unleaded petrol, known as E85).
As a result, no matter how much fuel
remains in the tank, and whatever
this fuel may be (unleaded petrol,
E 8 5 o r a m i x t u r e o f t h e t w o ) y o u c a n
refuel at any time with unleaded pe-
trol (95 or 98 RON) or with bioetha-
nol (E85).
There is no problem in running this
vehicle on only unleaded petrol.
If you should put in fuel that is
not suitable for your vehicle’s
engine type, it is imperative to
have the tank drained before
you start the engine again.

DRAINING THE DIESEL FUEL FILTER

Drain regularly (at each oil change).
To drain the water, slacken the bleed
screw or the water in diesel fuel sen-
s o r , l o c a t e d a t t h e b a s e o f t h e fi l t e r .
Continue until all the water has
fl o w e d o u t .
Then retighten the bleed screw or
the water detection sensor.

Pull the protective cover upwards
to remove it.
HDi 138 engine
Remove the protective cover
b y fi r s t u n c l i p p i n g a t 3 , then 1
and 4.
Unclip at 2 by pulling towards
you, then lift up. R e fi t t i n g
Firstly clip in at 2 .
Lower and centre the cover.
Clip in at 3 and 4 , pushing verti-
cally and gently from the rear.
Clip in at 1 pushing vertically.

Priming the fuel circuit
In the event of running out of fuel:
a f t e r fi l l i n g ( m i n i m u m 5 l i t r e s )
and removing the protective
cover, operate the manual prim-
ing pump, until some resistance
is felt,
operate the starter motor while
depressing the accelerator pedal
slightly until the engine starts. HDi engines are the result
of advanced technology.
All maintenance and repairs require
s p e c i a l q u a l i fi c a t i o n s w h i c h o n l y a
CITROËN dealer can guarantee.
V6 HDi 208 engine with electric
pump
In the event of running out of fuel:
after adding fuel, turn the ignition
key to position M , wait for a few
seconds,
operate the starter motor until
the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start after sev-
eral attempts, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
I f t h e e n g i n e f a i l s t o s t a r t a t t h e fi r s t
a t t e m p t , w a i t fi f t e e n s e c o n d s b e f o r e
trying again.
If the engine fails to start after a
few attempts, operate the priming
pump again and then try to start the
engine.
When the engine is idling, acceler-
ate slightly to complete the bleeding
of the circuit.
