2007 Volvo XC90
Replacing high/low beams/turn signal/parking light bulbs
The entire lamp housing must be lifted out when replacing these bulbs.
To lift out the lamp housing:
- Switch off the ignition.
- Open the hood.
- Pull up the retaining pins (see the illustration above).
- Lift out the lamp housing.
WARNING!
Active Bi-Xenon headlights (option) - due to the high voltage used by \
these headlights, these bulbs
should only be replaced by an authorized Volvo service technician.

Location of the bulbs in the headlight housing
- Low beam headlight/Active Bi-Xenon headlight (option)
- High beam headlight
- Turn signal
- Parking light
- Side marker light
Replacing the low beam bulb
(Halogen headlights)
- Remove the plastic cover over the bulb (1) by turning it countercloc\
kwise.
- Pull the connector from the lamp housing (2).
- Loosen the bulb's retaining spring by first moving it to the right and\
then moving it out of the way.
- Pull out the bulb from the holder.
- Insert the new bulb (without touching the glass) in the holder.
- Move the retaining spring up and push it slightly to the left until it\
seats properly.
- Press the bulb holder into place on the headlight housing.
- Reinstall the plastic cap. The letters "HAUT" on the cap must be upwar\
d.

Replacing bulbs
Replacing the high beam bulb
(Halogen headlights)
- Remove the rubber cover (1) by pulling it off.
- Pull the connector from the lamp housing (2).
- Loosen the bulb's retaining spring by first moving it to the right and\
then moving it out of the way.
- Pull out the bulb from the holder.
- Insert the new bulb (without touching the glass) in the holder.
- Move the retaining spring up and push it slightly to the left until it\
seats properly.
- Press the bulb holder into place on the headlight housing.
- Press the rubber cover into place.
Replacing the high beam bulb

- Remove the rubber cover over the bulb (1) by pulling it off.
- Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and pull it out of the headlight\
housing.
- Remove the connector from the bulb unit (2) by pressing the lock tab\
out and pulling.
- Connect the connector to the new bulb unit until it clicks into place.\

- Press a new bulb unit into the headlight housing and turn it clockwise\
into place.
- Reinstall the plastic cover.

Replacing bulbs
Replacing the parking light/side marker light bulbs
- Turn the lamp holder approximately 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull \
it out of the headlight housing.
- Pull the bulb straight out.
- Align the guide lugs on the side of the base of the new bulb in the gr\
ooves in the holder and press it
into place.
- Press the lamp holder into the place in the headlight housing and turn\
it approximately 1/4 turn
clockwise.

Replacing the turn signal bulb
- Turn the lamp holder approximately 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull \
it out of the headlight housing.
- Press in the bulb slightly and pull it out of the holder.
- Align the guide lugs on the side of the base of the new bulb in the gr\
ooves in the holder. Press it in and
turn it slightly clockwise.
- Press the lamp holder into the place in the headlight housing and turn\
it approximately 1/4 turn
clockwise.
Front fog lights
Avoid touching the glass on the bulb
with your fingers.
- Switch off the ignition.
- Turn the bulb holder slightly counterclockwise to release it.
- Replace the bulb. The shape of the foot of the bulb corresponds to the\
shape of the bulb holder.
- Reinstall the bulb holder by turning it slightly clockwise. The side o\
f the holder marked "TOP" should
face upward.

Location of tail light bulbs
1. Parking light
2. Turn signal
3. Back-up light
4. Parking light
5. Brake light
NOTE: If the message indicating a burned out bulb remains in the information \
display after a bulb has
been replaced, consult an authorized Volvo retailer or workshop.
Replacing bulbs in the tail light cluster
- Switch off all lights and turn ignition key to position 0.
- Fold down the lower section of the tailgate, and fold up the rear sect\
ion of the cargo area floor.
- If the vehicle is equipped with the optional grocery bag holder, detac\
h the holder's bands.
- Remove the corner panel (A in the illustration above).
- Open the cover (B) in the side panel by pulling the tab (C) upward\
/outward.
- Loosen the bolts (D).
- Pull the entire tail light housing straight out.
- Disconnect the wiring.

- Place the tail light housing on a soft cloth to avoid scratching the l\
ens.
- Turn the lamp holder(s) counterclockwise and pull out.
- Turn signal, back-up light, brake light bulbs: Turn the bulb countercl\
ockwise and remove it.
- Parking light bulbs: Pull the bulb straight out.
- Insert a new bulb.
- Place the lamp holder in the groove and turn clockwise.
- Press wiring back into place.
- Align the tail light housing with the holes for the retaining bolts an\
d press it into place.
- Tighten the retaining bolts.
- Reinsert the side and corner panels.

Replacing bulbs
Rear fog light
- Switch off the ignition.
- Carefully insert a small screwdriver (see illustration above).
- Pry out the lamp housing.
- Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.
- Turn the bulb counterclockwise and remove it.
- Insert a new bulb and press the lamp housing back into place.

Door step courtesy lights
The door step courtesy lights are located under the dashboard on the dri\
ver's and passenger's sides. To
replace a bulb:
- Carefully insert a screwdriver and pry out the lens.
- Replace the defective bulb.
- Reinstall the lens.
Cargo compartment light
- Carefully insert a screwdriver and pry out the lens.
- Pry out the bulb and replace it.
- Press the lens back into place.
