4. Information display
The display presents information and warning messages, the ambient tempe\
rature, and the clock, etc. When the
ambient temperature is between 23° and 36°F (-5° and +2°C)\
, a snowflake symbol is shown in the display. This
symbol serves as a warning for possible slippery road surfaces. Please n\
ote that this symbol does not indicate a fault
with your car. At low speeds, or when the car is not moving, the tempera\
ture readings may be slightly higher than the
actual ambient temperature.
5. Information symbol
See the next pages for additional information.
6. Turn signal, right
7. Tachometer
The tachometer shows engine speed in thousands of revolutions per minute\
(rpm). Do not drive continuously with the
needle in the red area of the dial, which indicates maximum allowable en\
gine rpm range. Instead, shift to a higher
gear or slow the vehicle down. The engine management system will automat\
ically prevent excessively high engines
speeds. This will be noticeable as a pronounced unevenness in engine spe\
ed.

9. Fuel gauge
The fuel tank holds approximately 16.3 US gallons (62 liters). When a \
warning light in the gauge comes on, there are
approximately 2.1

10. Trip odometer reset button
The trip odometers are used to measure short distances. Press the button\
briefly to switch between the odometer for
the car's total mileage and the two trip odometers, T1 and T2. A long pr\
ess (more than 2 seconds) resets the currently
selected trip odometer.

This window displays information on functions such as the odometer, trip\
odometers, optional rain sensor, and cruise
control.

1. Turn signal indicator for trailer (certain models)
If you are towing a trailer, this light will flash simultaneously with t\
he turn signals on the trailer. If the light does not
flash when signaling, one of the turn signals on the trailer or on the c\
ar are not functioning properly.
2. Parking brake applied
Parking brake applied This light is on when the parking brake (hand bra\
ke) is applied. The parking brake lever is
situated between the front seats. Always pull up this lever as far as po\
ssible when applying the parking brake.
NOTE
Canadian models are equipped with the second
symbol.
3. SRS warning light
If this light comes on while the car is being driven, or remains on for \
longer than approximately 10 seconds after the
car has been started, the SRS system's diagnostic functions have detecte\
d a fault in a seat belt lock or tensioner, a
front airbag, side impact airbag, and/or an inflatable curtain. Have the\
system(s) inspected by a trained and qualified
Volvo service technician as soon as possible.

When turning
l Move the lever as far up or down as possible (to position 2) to start \
the turn signals.
The turn signals will be cancelled automatically by the movement of the \
steering wheel, or the lever can be returned

When changing lanes
The driver can automatically flash the turn signals 3 times by:
l Moving the turn signal lever up or down to position 1 and releasing it. \
l Moving the lever up or down to position 2 and immediately back to its or\
iginal position.
NOTE
l This automatic flashing sequence can be interrupted by immediately movin\
g the lever in the opposite
direction.
l If the turn signal indicator flashes faster than normal, check for a bur\
ned-out turn signal bulb.

seconds until the frequency signal has been learned. The indicator light\
will flash slowly and then rapidly after several
seconds upon successful training. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indi\

4. Press and hold the trained HomeLink button and observe the indicator \
light.
l If the indicator light is solid/continuous, training is complete and you\
r device should activate when the HomeLink
button is pressed and released.
l If the indicator light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns a sol\
id/continuous light, proceed with the following
training instructions for a rolling code device. A second person may mak\
e the following steps quicker and easier.
Please use a ladder or other device. Do not stand on your vehicle to per\
form the next steps.
5. At the garage door opener receiver (motorhead unit) in the garage, \

the desired HomeLink button while you press and repress ("cycle") your\
hand-held transmitter every two seconds
until the frequency signal has been learned. The indicator light will fl\
ash slowly and then rapidly after several
seconds upon successful training. If necessary, follow steps 5-7 to comp\
lete the training for a rolling code device.
To train additional HomeLink buttons, begin with step two.
Rolling Code Programming
Rolling code garage door openers that are "code-protected" and manufactu\
red after 1996 may be determined by the-
following:
l Reference the garage door opener owner's manual for verification.
l The handheld transmitter appears to program the HomeLink Universal Trans\

If either of the remote controls is lost, the other must be taken with t\
he car to a Volvo retailer. As an anti-theft measure, the code of
the lost remote control must be erased from the system.
Each key blade has a unique code, which is used if new key blades are re\
quired. A maximum of six remote controls/key blades can
be programmed and used for one car.
Immobilizer (start inhibitor)
Each of the keys supplied with your car contains a coded transponder. Th\
e code in the key is transmitted to an antenna in the ignition
switch where it is compared to the code stored in the start inhibitor mo\
dule. The car will start only with a properly coded key. If you
misplace a key, take the other keys to an authorized Volvo retailer for \
reprogramming as an antitheft measure. USA - FCC ID: LTQWFS 125VO
