Seatposition
Anergonomicallycorrectsittingpositionisimportantforsafeandfatigue-freedriving.Werecommendthefollowingprocedureforadjustingthedriver’sseattosuitindividualrequirements:
1.Vehicleswithmanualtransmission:Adjusttheseatuntil,withtheclutchpedalfullydepressed,yourlegremainsataslightangle.VehicleswithTiptronicS:Adjusttheseatuntil,withyourleftfootonthefootrest,yourleftlegremainsataslightangle.
2.Restyouroutstretchedarmonthesteeringwheel.Setthebackrestangleandthesteer-ing-wheelpositionsothatyourwristrestsontheouterrimofthesteeringwheel.Atthesametime,theshouldersmuststillbeinnoticeablecontactwiththebackrest.
3.Adjusttheseatheighttogiveyourselfenoughheadroomandagoodoverviewofthevehicle.
4.Electricallyadjustableseat:Adjusttheseatangleuntilyourthighsrestlightlyontheseatcushion.

Properwearingofsafetybelts
Safetybeltsmustbepositionedonthebodyastorestraintheupperbodyandlapfromslidingforward.Improperlypositionedsafetybeltscancauseseriouspersonalinjuryordeathincaseofanaccident.
Theshoulderbeltshouldalwaysrestonyourupperbody.Theshoulderbeltshouldneverbewornbehindyourbackorunderyourarm.
Formaximumeffectiveness,thelapbeltshouldbewornlowacrossthehips.
Pregnantwomenshouldpositionthebeltaslowaspossibleacrossthepelvis.Makesureitisnotpressingagainsttheabdomen.
Beltsshouldnotbeworntwisted.
Donotwearbeltsoverrigidorbreakableobjectsinoronyourclothing,suchaseyeglasses,pens,keys,etc.asthesemaycauseinjury.
Severallayersofheavyclothingmayinterferewithproperpositioningofbelts.
Beltsmustnotrubagainstsharpobjectsordamagemayoccurtothebelt.
Twooccupantsshouldneversharethesamebeltatthesametime.

Careandmaintenance
Keepbeltbucklesfreeofanyobstructionthatmaypreventasecurelocking.
Beltsthathavebeensubjectedtoexcessivestretchforcesinanaccidentmustbeinspect-edorreplacedtoensuretheircontinuedeffec-tivenessinrestrainingyou.Thesameappliestobelttensionersystemswhichhavebeentriggered.Inaddition,theanchorpointsofthebeltsshouldbechecked.
Ifsafetybeltsdonotworkproperly,seeyourauthorizedPorschedealerimmediately.
Ifthebeltsshowdamagetowebbing,bind-ings,bucklesorretractors,theyshouldbereplacedtoensuresafeoperation.
Donotmodifyordisassemblethesafetybeltsinyourvehicle.
Thebeltsmustbekeptcleanortheretractorsmaynotworkproperly.

Dependingontheforceofanimpact,fastenedsafetybeltsaretightenedinanaccident.
Thebelttensionersaretriggeredin:
–Front,sideandrearimpactsofsufficientseverity.
–FortheCabriolet,incasesofvehiclerollover.
Note
Thebelt-tensionersystemcanbetriggeredonlyonce;thesystemmustbereplacedafterward.
Ifthereisafaultinthebelt-tensionersystem,theairbagwarninglightlightsup.

Workmaybeperformedonthebelt-tensionersystemonlybyanauthorizedPorschedealer.Smokeisreleasedwhenthebelttensionersaretriggered.Thisdoesnotindicateafireinthevehicle.
SafetyBeltWarningSystem
Anaudio-visualwarningsystemisinterconnect-edwiththedriver’ssafetybelt.
Everytimetheignitionisturnedon,thegongwillsoundforabout6secondstoreminddriverandpassengertobuckleup.Inaddition,thegongwillsoundforapprox.90secondsifvehiclespeedexceeds15mph/24km/h.Thesafetybeltwarninglightsintheinstrumentpanelandon-boardcomputerwillgooffassoonasthedriverhasbuckledup.
Inertiareelretractor
Thecombinationlap/shoulderbeltwithinertiareellockingmechanismadjustsautomaticallytoyoursizeandmovementsaslongasthepullonthebeltisslow.
Rapiddecelerationduringhardbrakingoracollisionlocksthebelt.Thebeltwillalsolockwhenyoudriveupordownasteephillorinasharpcurve,otherwise,theshoulderbeltwillnotinhibityourupperbodymovement.
Fasteningthesafetybelt
Assumeacomfortablesittingposition.

Theshoulderbeltshouldalwaysrestonyourupperbody.Theshoulderbeltshouldneverbewornbehindyourbackorunderyourarm.
Graspbeltandpullthebeltinacontinuousslowmotionacrossyourchestandlap.
Insertbelttongueintobuckleoninboardsideofseat.Pushdownuntilitsecurelylockswithanaudibleclick.Pullthebelttocheck.
Pullshouldersectiontomakesurebeltfitssnuglyacrossthepelvis.
Beltsshouldfitsnuglyacrossthepelvisandchest.Makesurethereisnoslackinthebelt.
Releasingthesafetybelt
Pushinreleasebutton(arrow)onbuckle.Belttonguewillspringoutofbuckle.
Toreleasealatchedbelt,leanbacktotakethebodypressureoffthebelt.
Tostorelap/shoulderbelt,allowthebelttoretractasyouguidethelatchtoitsstowedposition.
