Activatingtheautomaticlockingretractor
1.Ifachildrestraintsystemmustbefastenedtothepassenger’sseat,adjustthepassenger’sseatasfarawayfromtheairbagaspossible.
2.Fastenchildseat.
3.Pullthesafetybeltretractorcompletelyout.Atthispointthelockingmechanismisactivated.
4.Insertthesafetybelttongueintothebuckleandmakecertainthatitisproperlylatched.Makenomoreadjustmentstotheseat.
5.Allowthesafetybelttoretractuntilitistightonthechildrestraintsystem.Youmayfurthertightenthebeltbypullingonittoallowmoreofittoretract.Makesurethatexcessiveseatbeltforcesdonotoccurbymovingtheseatwiththechildseatinstalled.
Releasingthesafetybelt
1.Unbucklethesafetybeltlatch.
2.Thenmakecertainthatthebelthasfullyretracted.Atthispointtheautomaticlockingfeaturewillbedisengaged.SeekappropriateadvicefromyourauthorizedPorschedealeraboutthepossibleinstallationofaPorschechildrestraintsystem.

FunctionoftheRolloverProtection
System
TheRolloverProtectionSystemontheCabrioletconsistsoftwosupplementalsafetybarsthattogetherwiththefrontwindshieldframehelptocreateoccupantsurvivalspaceincaseofrollover.Becauseoftheextremeandunpredictableforceswhichcanbeencounteredinarollover,itisnotpossibletoguaranteethatoccupantswillbeprotectedfromallcontactwithexteriorobjectsortheground.However,theRolloverProtectionSystemisdesignedtomaintaintheoccupantsurvivalspace.
Theprotectivedevicesarelocatedbehindeachrearseatandrapidlydeploywithinafractionofasecond.TheRolloverProtectionSystemisactivatedautomaticallyintheeventofanaccidentorextremedrivingsituation.Ifnecessary,theseat-belttensionerswillbeactivated.

ABSBrakeSystem
(AntilockBrakeSystem)
TheABSsystemrepresentsamajorcontributiontotheenhancementofactivesafetyinyourvehicle.Thissystempreventsthewheelsfromlockinginapanicstoponalmostallroadsurfaces.
WiththeABSsysteminyourvehicle,the
followingareasareenhanced:
Steering,vehicleremainssteerableunderallbrakingforceswhenABSisengaged.
Gooddirectionalcontrol,noswervingcausedbylockingofwheelsunderbrakingconditions.
Shorterstoppingdistance,stoppingdistancesareusuallyreducedbecausecontrolledbrakingismaximized.
Preventionofwheellockup,nobrake-inducedslidingandthusnolocalizedtirewearfromemergencybraking.
ThecrucialadvantageoftheABSsystemoveraconventionalbrakesystemisintheareaofmaintainingdirectionalcontrolandmaneuverabilityofthecarinemergencysituations.

Awheelspeedsensorismountedtoeachofthefourwheels.Ifwheellock-upofeitherofthefrontwheelsortherearwheelsissensedduringbraking,thebrakepressureisadjustedautomaticallyuntilthewheelnolongerslips.
Ifbrakingforcesapproachthewheellock-uppointforallwheels(panicbraking)theABSsystemwillintervenetoprovidearapidrythmicbraking.TheproperoperationofABSisperceivedbythedriverasapulsatingbrakepedalinconjunctionwithaudiblenoiseandperhapssomevibration.
Ifyouexperiencethesesensationswhiledrivingoraroadsurfacewithquestionabletraction,reducevehiclespeedappropriatefortheprevailingroadconditions.
Iffullbrakingshouldbenecessary,pressthebrakepedalallthewaydownthroughouttheentirebrakingprocedure,regardlessofthepulsatingpedal.Donoteaseuponpressureappliedtothepedal.
ThefunctionalreadinessofallthemainelectricalcomponentsoftheABSischeckedbyanelectronicmonitoringsystembothbeforeandwhileyoudrive.
