o If components of the airbag sys-
tem must be discarded, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, certain safety precautions must be ob- served. Your Hyundai authorisedrepairer knows these precautions and can give you the necessary information. Failure to follow theseprecautions and procedures could increase the risk of personal in- jury.
o If you sell your vehicle, be sure to inform the new owner of theseimportant points and make cer-tain that this manual is transferred to the new owner.
o If your car was flooded and has soaked carpeting or water on floor-ing, you shouldn't try to start en- gine; have the car towed to Hyundaiauthorised repairer.
o Do not replace the bumper or the
bumper guard with the one otherthan the Hyundai genuine parts. Otherwise, it can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to un-expected injury.
o For cleaning the airbag pad cov-
ers, use only a soft, dry cloth orone which has been moistenedwith plain water. Solvents or clean- ers could adversely affect the airbag covers and proper deploy-ment of the system.
o No objects should be placed over
or near the airbag modules on thesteering wheel, instrument panel, and the front passenger's panel above the glove box, because anysuch object could cause harm if the vehicle is in a crash severe enough to cause the airbags toinflate.
o If the airbags inflate, they must be
replaced by an Hyundai authorisedrepairer.
o Do not tamper with or disconnect
SRS wiring, or other componentsof the SRS system. Doing so could result in injury, due to accidental firing of the airbags or by render-ing the SRS inoperative.

SB340B3-E Interior Light The interior courtesy light has a button of three positions. The three positions are:
oDR In the "DR" position, the interior cour- tesy light comes on when any door is opened regardless of the ignition key position. The light goes out when thedoor is closed.
oON In the "ON" position, the light stays on at all times.
2. Turn the hexagonal bolts with a socket
wrench counterclockwise to removethe front overhead console.
3. Insert the hexagonal head wrench
provided with the vehicle into thesocket. This wrench can be found in the vehicle's luggage room or glove box.

4. Turn the wrench clockwise to open or counterclockwise to close. B480A01E-EAT Map Light
INTERIOR LIGHT
The two map lights are located at each side of the interior light. The lights may be operated by depress- ing the switch to turn on the light andpressing again to turn off the light. This light produces a spot beam for conve- nient use as a map light at night or asa personal light for the driver or the passenger.

The outside rear view mirror can be adjusted in any direction to give the maximum rear view vision. The remote control outside rear view mirror switch controls the adjustments for passenger side door mirror. To adjust the position of either mirror:
1. Move the selecting switch to the "L" (or "R") position to activate the ad- justable mechanism for the adjust-ing door mirror.
2. Adjust mirror angle by depressing
the appropriate directional switch asillustrated.

The pollen filter is located in front of the blower unit behind the glove box. It operates to decrease pollutants en- tering the car and to filter the air.To replace the pollen filter, refer to page 6-25. CAUTION:
o Replace the filter every 10,000 miles or once a year. If the car is being driven in severe conditionssuch as dusty, rough roads, more frequent air filter inspections and changes are required.
o When the air flow rate is suddenly decreased, it must be checked atan Hyundai authorised repairer.

Compressor Drive Belt The air conditioning compressor drive belt should be checked to ensure free- dom from damage or excessive wearand correct tension. The belt tension is correct when the belt deflects by about 0.3 inches (8 mm) when a forceof 98 N is applied to the belt halfway between the compressor and crank- shaft pulleys. Adjustment of the belt should be en- trusted to a Hyundai authorised re- pairer. CRANK PULLEY
