immobilizer system. They will not

If the system repeatedly does not
recognize the coding of your key,
contact your dealer.
Do not attempt to alter this system
or add other devices to it. Electrical
problems could result that may make
your vehicle undrivable.
When you turn the ignition switch to
the ON (II) position, the immobilizer
system indicator should come on f or
a f ew seconds, then go of f . If the
indicator starts to blink, it means the
system does not recognize the
coding of the key. Turn the ignition
switch to the LOCK (0) position,
remove the key, reinsert it, and turn
the ignition switch to the ON (II)
position again.
The system may not recognize your
key’s coding if another immobilizer
key or other metal object (i.e. key
f ob) is near the ignition switch when
you insert the key. The immobilizer system protects
your vehicle f rom thef t. If an
improperly-coded key (or other
device) is used, the engine’s f uel
system is disabled.
If you have lost your key and cannot

The ignition switch has f our
positions: LOCK (0), ACCESSORY
(I), ON (II), and START (III). You can insert or
remove the key only in this position.
To turn the key, push it in slightly. If
your vehicle has an automatic
transmission, the shif t lever must
also be in park. If the f ront wheels are turned, the
anti-theft lock may make it difficult
to turn the key. Firmly turn the
steering wheel to the lef t or right as
you turn the key.
This is the normal key
position when driving. Several of the
indicators on the instrument panel
come on as a test when you turn the
ignition switch f rom the
ACCESSORY (I) to the ON (II)
position.
Use this position
only to start the engine. The switch
returns to the ON (II) position when
you let go of the key. You will hear a reminder beeper if
you leave the key in the LOCK (0) or
the ACCESSORY (I) position and
open the driver’s door. Remove the
key to turn of f the beeper.
If your vehicle has an automatic
transmission, the shif t lever must be
in Park bef ore you can remove the
key f rom the ignition switch.
You can
operate the audio system and the
accessory power socket in this
position.

cause you to lose control of the

To lock the passenger’s door when
getting out of the vehicle, push in the
lock tab and close the door. To lock
the driver’s door, pull and hold the
outside door handle, then push in the
lock tab. Release the handle, then
close the door. Each door has a lock tab on the top
of the door. Push in the tab to lock
the door, and pull it out to unlock.To lock the doors and the tailgate,
push the top of the master door lock
switch on the driver’s door, push in
the lock tab on the driver’s door, or
use the key in the outside door lock
on the driver’s door.
Pushing the bottom of the master
door lock switch unlocks all doors
and the tailgate.
Each f ront door can be locked or
unlocked with the ignition key.

The lock tab on each passenger’s
door locks and unlocks only that
door. Pulling up the driver’s lock tab
only unlocks the driver’s door. To
unlock only the driver’s door f rom
the outside, turn the key and release
it. If you turn it again, the remaining
doors and the tailgate unlock.
To lock a passenger’s door when
getting out of the vehicle, push in the
lock tab and close the door. To lock
the driver’s door, remove key f rom
ignition switch and push in the lock
tab or push the top of the master
door lock switch, then close the door.With the driver’s door open and the
key in the ignition switch, the master
door lock switch is disabled. It is not
disabled if the driver’s door is closed.
If you try to lock the open driver’s
door with the key in the ignition
switch by pushing in the lock tab, the
tabs on all doors pop up when you
close the door.
The childproof door locks are
designed to prevent children seated
in the rear f rom accidentally opening
the rear doors. Each rear door has a
lock lever near the edge. With the
lever in the LOCK position, the door
cannot be opened f rom inside
regardless of the position of the lock
tab. To open the door, pull the lock
tab up, and use the outside door
handle.

to unlock the driver’s door. Push it
twice to unlock the remaining doors
and the tailgate. Some exterior lights
will f lash twice each time you press
the button.
The ceiling light (if the ceiling light
switch is in the door activated
position) will come on when you
press the UNLOCK button. If you do
not open any door or the tailgate
within 30 seconds, the light f ades out.
If you relock the doors and the
tailgate with the remote transmitter
bef ore 30 seconds have elapsed, the
light will go of f immediately.
If you do not open any door or the
tailgate within 30 seconds, they will
automatically relock and the security
system will set. Pressthisbuttonfor
about 2 seconds to attract attention:
the horn will sound, and the exterior
lights will f lash f or about 30 seconds.
To cancel panic mode, press any
other button on the remote
transmitter, or turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position.
Press this button once to
lock all doors and the tailgate. Some
exterior lights will f lash once. When
you push LOCK twice within 5
seconds, the horn will sound to
verify that the doors and the tailgate
arelockedandthesecuritysystem
has set. You cannot lock the doors
and the tailgate if any door or the
tailgate is not f ully closed or the key
is in the ignition switch.

µTo open the driver’s
window f ully, push the window
switch f irmly down to the second
detent, and release it. The window
will automatically go down all the
way. To stop the window, pull back
on the window switch briefly.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position to raise or lower any
window. To open the window, push
the switch down and hold it. Release
the switch when you want to stop the
window. To close the window, pull
back on the switch and hold it.
To unlatch the detachable anchor,
insert the latch plate into the slot on
the side of the anchor buckle. Store
the detachable anchor and seat belt
latch plates in the retractor housing.

The inside mirror has day and night
positions. The night position reduces
glare f rom headlights behind you.
Flip the tab on the bottom edge of
the mirror to select the day or night
position.
When you push the MAIN switch in,
the switch is off, and the passenger
windows cannot be raised or lowered.
To cancel this f eature, push on the
switch again to get it to pop out.
Keep the MAIN switch of f when you
have children in the vehicle so they
do not injure themselves by
operating the windows
unintentionally.
