EON (Enhanced Other Network)
Function that allows the radio to tune automatically on
a different station than the one being listened to which
broadcasts traffic information.
Fader
Function with which it is possible to suitably adjust the
sound from the front or rear speakers.
Hicut (treble reduction)
Function with which it is possible to reduce the treble
tones, in accordance with the signal transmitted.
Loudness
Function that emphasises the bass and treble tones
when listening at low level. It is cut off with the
volume set to maximum.
MSS (previous/next track search)
With this function it is possible to listen to next or
previous track on the tape.Mute
This function enables to mute the active source. This
function is activated automatically, if a cell phone is
connected to the radio, when a phone call is being
received.
Presettings
Number of radio stations that can be stored manually
or automatically.
PTY (Program Type)
This function allows the presetting of a category of
programmes such as for instance, news bulletins,
music, sport, etc. The set automatically gives priority
to the type of programme selected when the
transmission starts, interrupting the one in progress.
RDS (Radio Data System)
This is an additional radio information system which
uses the 57 kHz subcarrier of normal FM broadcasts.
With this function it is possible to receive different
types of information such as station names, alternative
frequencies, automatic tuning to traffic bulletins or
special programmes selected through the PTY
function.
001-050 ING 21-06-2007 15:48 Pagina 16
The functions that cannot be selected (e.g.: “TAPE”
when the cassette is not inserted) are automatically
disabled. If the cassette is not inserted or the CD
Changer is not connected, pressing button 6 (SRC-SC)
the display will show the message “NO CD” for about
2.5 seconds, then the sound system will set
automatically to “TUNER” (Radio).
Pause function
If while listening to a cassette or Compact Disc
another function is selected (e.g. the radio), playing is
stopped and when the cassette or Compact Disc
mode is resumed, it starts again from the point in
which it was stopped.
If while listening to the radio another function is
selected, when the Radio mode is resumed, it is tuned
to the last station selected.Volume adjustment
Press the “VOL+” button (22) to increase the volume
or “VOL–” (20) to lower it.
Pressing the button briefly the change is gradual by
steps.
Pressing longer, the change is fast. For a few seconds
the display shows the wording “VOL” and the volume
level (from 0 to 66).
If the volume level is changed during the broadcast of a
traffic bulletin or during use of the phone (if the voice
feature is installed), the new setting is maintained only
until the end of the bulletin or phone call. Volume can
be also adjusted during manual/automatic tuning,
AutoSTore, radio station scan or CD Changer mode.
IMPORTANT On versions not fitted with rear
speakers, if the volume is low although the value set is
high, check whether the Fader function is set to “F”
(front). Fader setting to “R” (rear) will actually reduce
the sound system output till muting the volume if the
value set is R+9.

The Mute function is also switched off pressing one of
the volume adjustment buttons “VOL+” (22) or “VOL
–”(20): in this case the volume is changed directly.
With the Mute function on:
❒all the other functions can be used;
❒if an emergency alarm or a traffic bulletin arrives
with the TA function on, the message ignores the
Mute function;
❒If the “Telephone preset” option is available, the
Mute function is ignored at incoming calls. After the
call is over, the function is actuated again;

❒activating a new function (e.g.: TA or Tel Mute
function or inserting a tape).
IMPORTANT On versions not fitted with rear
speakers, the Fader function shall be set to “F” (front)
to avoid sound system output power reduction and
volume muting if Fader is set to = R+9.
Loudness function
The Loudness function improves the sound volume
when listening at low level, increasing the basses and
trebles. It is cut off when the volume is set to
maximum.
To switch the function on/off, keep button 19 (AUD)
pressed until hearing the “beep”. The function
condition (on or off) is shown on the display for few
seconds by “LD ON” or “LD OFF”.TELEPHONE PROVISION
(where provided)
If the vehicle is equipped with a free-hands kit, the car
radio volume control is connected, when a telephone
call is received, to the telephone input, thus preventing
listening to the tuned station or the CD. The
telephone sound is always received to a set volume;
yet, it can be adjusted during conversation, by means
of button 22 (VOL+) or button 20 (VOL –).
The fixed telephone volume can be adjusted through
the “PHONE” function of the menu (see paragraph
“MENU”).
The only car radio buttons active during telephone
calls are:
❒20, 21 and 22 (ON , VOL+, VOL-: for car radio
switch-on/off and volume control;
❒1 (AF-TA): traffic information.
When the volume is turned off during a telephone call,
the display will indicate “PHONE”.
During telephone calls, all functions, except for
AutoSTore and Search (operating mode selection) are
disabled.
The phone call volume will be turned off when a
PTY31 announcement or a traffic news bulletin is
broadcast; press button 15 (AF-TA) to interrupt the
bulletin.
When the car radio is ON and the engine is OFF (with
the key in STOP position), the car radio will not turn
off when a telephone call is received; it will
automatically turn off when the call is over.

With the TA function (traffic information) it is
possible:
1) to search only RDS stations that transmit in the FM
band, enabled to broadcast traffic information;
2) to receive traffic information even if the tapes
player or CD Changer is in use;
3) to receive traffic information at a predefined
minimum volume even with the radio volume off.
The operations to be carried out for each of the three
above conditions are listed below.
1) To receive stations enabled to broadcast traffic
information:
❒select band FM1, FM2 or FMT;
❒briefly press button 1 (AF-TA) so that the display
shows “TA”;
❒press tuner buttons “
˜” (9) or “÷”(12).
To store stations with TA on, carry out the storage
operations (see “Manual station storage”).2) If wishing to receive traffic information when
listening to a cassette or CD, before inserting the
cassette or starting the CD Changer, in Telephone
mode or with Mute function on, tune to a station
enabled to broadcast traffic information (TP) and
activate the TA function. If while listening to the
cassette or Compact Disc, this station broadcasts
traffic information, the tape or CD will be suspended
temporarily and resumed again automatically after the
end of the message. At the start of receiving traffic
information the display will briefly show the wording
“INFO TRA”, while the display continues giving the
last information (frequency, etc.).
If the tape player is already working and at the same
time you want to receive traffic information, briefly
pressing button 1 (AF-TA) the radio tunes to the last
station heard in the FM band, the TA function is
activated and the traffic messages are transmitted. If
the station selected does not send traffic information,
the search for an enabled station starts automatically.
If wishing to interrupt the traffic information message,
briefly press button 1 (AF-TA) during transmission of
the message.

3) To receive traffic information while not listening to
the radio:
❒turn on the TA function briefly pressing button 1
(AF-TA), so that the display shows “TA”;
❒tune to a station enabled to transmit traffic
information so that the display shows “TP” and turn
the volume to zero by keeping button 20 (VOL–)
pressed.
This way, if that station broadcasts traffic information,
this will be heard at a minimum predefined volume.
IMPORTANT In certain countries radio stations exist
which, even if the TP function is on (the display shows
“TP”), do not transmit traffic information.If the radio is working in the AM band, when button 1
(AF-TA) is pressed, it passes to the FM1 band on the
last station heard. If the station selected does not
broadcast traffic information (wording “TP” not shown
on the display), the search for an enabled station starts
automatically.
The volume with which the traffic bulletin is
transmitted varies depending on the listening volume:
❒listening volume below 20: traffic bulletin volume =
20 (fixed value);
❒listening volume above 30: same traffic bulletin
volume as listening volume +1.
If the volume is changed during a traffic bulletin the
value is not shown on the display and the new value is
kept only for the bulletin in progress.
When leaving the tuned station coverage area,
depending on the active audio source, the following
cases may took place:
❒Radio on: a “beep” is given every 30 seconds;
❒Tape, CD Changer (if installed), Telephone or Mute
on: a “beep” is given and the search for an enabled
station will start.
During a traffic bulletin it is possible to turn on sound
adjustment with the (AUD-LD) 19 button.
