Windshield Wipers
The lever on the right side of the steering column
operates the windshield wipers.
7(Mist):Pull the lever down and release it for
a single wiping cycle. The lever will return to its
original position. For more cycles, hold the
lever down before releasing it.
9(Off):Put the lever in this position to turn off
the wipers.
&(Delay):Put the lever in this position to set a
delay between wipes. Turn the delay adjustment
band to set the length of the delay.
6(Delay Adjustment):Use this band to set the
length of the delay between wipes when using the
delay feature. The closer you move the band toward mist, the
longer the delay. The windshield wiper lever must
be in delay for this feature to work.
6(Low Speed):Put the lever in this position
for slow, steady wiping cycles.
1(High Speed):Put the lever in this position
for rapid wiping cycles.
If the windshield wipers are in use for about
six seconds while you are driving, the exterior
lamps will come on automatically if the exterior
lamp control is in AUTO. SeeWiper Activated
Headlamps on page 178for more information.
Be sure to clear ice and snow from the wiper
blades before using them. If they are frozen to the
windshield, gently loosen or thaw them. If the
blades do become damaged, install new blades.
For more information, seeWindshield Wiper Blade
Replacement on page 397.
Heavy snow or ice can overload the wiper motor.
A circuit breaker will stop the motor until it
cools down. Clear away snow or ice to prevent an
overload.

Climate Controls
Dual Climate Control System
With this system you can control the heating,
cooling, defrosting, and ventilation for the vehicle.
Automatic Operation
The climate control system automatically adjusts
the air temperature, air delivery mode, fan
speed, and air conditioning for best comfort in the
vehicle.To activate the automatic system:
AUTO (Automatic Mode):
1. Turn the fan and mode controls to the AUTO
position. This also sets the recirculation mode
to automatic operation on the display.
2. Press the up or down arrows to adjust the
temperature to a comfortable setting between
70°F (21°C) and 80°F (27°C).
3. Allow the system time to stabilize. This might
take several minutes in very hot or cold
weather. Then adjust the temperature, as
needed for best comfort.
Choosing the coldest or warmest temperature
setting will not cause the system to heat or cool
any faster. In cold weather, the system starts at
reduced fan speeds to avoid blowing cold air
into the vehicle until warmer air is available.
The automatic system starts out blowing air at
the oor, but changes modes automatically as
the vehicle warms up to maintain the chosen
temperature setting.
The length of time needed to warm the interior
depends on the outside temperature and
the amount of time that has passed since the
vehicle was last driven.
