Front shock absorber adjustment
The spring preload, rebound damping and com-
pression damping forces of the front shock
absorbers can be adjusted to suit the rider’s
weight and the riding conditions.

These shock absorbers contain highly pres-
surized nitrogen gas. Read and understand
the following information before handling the
shock absorbers.
8Do not tamper with or attempt to open the
cylinder assemblies.
8Do not subject the shock absorbers to an
open flame or other high heat source. This
may cause the unit to explode due to
excessive gas pressure.
8Do not deform or damage the cylinders in
any way. Cylinder damage will result in
poor damping performance.
8Take the shock absorbers to a Yamaha
dealer for any service.

NOTE:
Although the total number of clicks of a damping
force adjusting mechanism may not exactly
match the above specifications due to small dif-
ferences in production, the actual number of
clicks always represents the entire adjusting
range. To obtain a precise adjustment, it would
be advisable to check the number of clicks of
each damping force adjusting mechanism and to
modify the specifications as necessary.

8Suspension components become hot dur-
ing operation. Never touch the compres-
sion damping force adjusting screw, the
rebound damping force adjusting screw or
the oil reservoir with your bare hand or
skin until suspension components have
cooled.
8Always adjust the shock absorbers on the
left and right side to the same setting.

Rear shock absorber adjustment

Adjust the rebound damping force as follows.
Turn the rebound damping force adjusting screw
in direction ato increase the rebound damping

Adjust the compression damping force as fol-
lows.
1. Remove the seat. (See page 4-27 for seat
removal and installation procedures.)
2. Turn the compression damping force
adjusting screw in direction ato increase
the compression damping force and in
direction bto decrease the compression
damping force.

8Ne pas remplir le réservoir de carburant à
l’excès. Le carburant se dilate en se réchauf-
fant. Si le réservoir de carburant est trop
rempli, du carburant risque de s’échapper
sous l’effet de la chaleur du moteur ou du
soleil.
8Bien veiller à ne pas renverser de carbu-
rant, tout particulièrement sur le moteur
ou sur le tuyau d’échappement. Essuyer
immédiatement toute coulure de carbu-
rant.
8Ne pas faire le plein juste après avoir fait
tourner le moteur et tant qu’il est encore
très chaud.
8Veiller à ce que le bouchon du réservoir de
carburant soit bien fermé.
