Engine oil and oil filter element
The engine oil level should be checked before
each ride. In addition, the oil must be changed
and the oil filter element replaced at the intervals
specified in the periodic maintenance and lubri-
cation chart.
To check the engine oil level
1. Place the ATV on a level surface.
2. Start the engine, warm it up until the
engine oil has reached a normal tempera-
ture of 60 ° C, let it continue to idle for ten
seconds or more, and then turn the engine
off.
NOTE:
To achieve the proper engine oil temperature for
an accurate oil level reading, the engine must
have first completely cooled down, and then
warmed up again for several minutes to normal
operating temperature.

Make sure that the engine oil tank filler cap
is securely tightened, otherwise oil may seep
out when the engine is running.
To change the engine oil (with or without oil
filter element replacement)
1. Start the engine, warm it up for several
minutes, and then turn it off.
2. Place an oil pan under the engine to collect
the used oil.

NOTE:
Skip steps 6–9 if the oil filter element is not
being replaced.
6. Remove the oil filter element cover by
removing the bolts, and then remove the
oil filter element.

7. Check the O-rings for damage, and
replace them if necessary.
8. Install a new oil filter element and the O-
rings.
NOTE:
Make sure that the O-rings are properly seated.
9. Install the oil filter element cover by
installing the bolts, and then tighten them
to the specified torque.
10. Install the crankcase engine oil drain bolt
and the engine oil tank drain bolt, and then
tighten them to the specified torques.

11. Install the crankcase engine oil filler cap,
and then tighten it to the specified torque.
12. Pour only 1.3 L (1.37 Imp qt, 1.16 US qt) of
the specified amount of recommended
engine oil through the engine oil tank filler
hole, insert the dipstick, and then tighten
the oil tank filler cap.
13. Start the engine, rev it several times, and
then turn it off.
14. Remove the engine oil tank filler cap, and
then gradually fill the oil tank with the
remaining oil quantity while regularly
checking the oil level on the dipstick.
Recommended engine oil:

5. Wash the sponge material gently but thor-
oughly in solvent.
w
Always use parts cleaning solvent to clean
the sponge material. Never use low flash
point solvents or gasoline to clean the
sponge material because the engine could
catch fire or explode.
6. Squeeze the excess solvent out of the
sponge material and let it dry.
cC
Do not twist the sponge material when
squeezing it.
7. Inspect the sponge material and replace it
if damaged.
8. Apply foam air filter oil to the sponge mate-
rial.
