Different bass and treble settings are
possible for the following operating modes:
Radio: FM-, AM- and
Weather (WB) bands
Single CD (CD) and CD changer*

CD)
MP3 CD operation
AUX
Satellite radio*When you adjust bass or treble, the
settings apply to other sources within the
group, but not to the other modes. For
example, if you adjust the bass while
listening to FM, that same bass level
applies to AM and Weather band, but not
to satellite radio* or CD/MP3 CD.
Activating the Bass or Treble menu
In any audio source operation:
Press the Bass or Treble soft key.
The Bass or Treble menu will appear.
Setting Bass and Treble
Push the joystick to H or h.
Bass or Treble is adjusted.
Press E or the Back soft key.

Wait until the display changes.
The new setting is saved.

Push the joystick to F and f to
move the cross-hairs simultaneously in
vertical and horizontal direction.

Press the Bass or Treble soft key and
keep it depressed to move the cursor
continuously. Release the soft key to
set the current value.

If your vehicle is equipped with the
premium sound system*, the sound
functions* will be available for the

Default Settings:
COMAND sets the default settings
(Bass, Treble, Bal/Fad) for the active
source mode.
Standard:
COMAND sets the sound linear for the
center of the vehicle.
Speech:
Playback optimized for language
comprehensibility.
LOGIC7 Surround:
Surround playback.
You can use different sound functions* for
the modes mentioned above.
E.g.:
For radio operation the function
Standard, for CD operation the function
LOGIC7 Surround.
Sound functions*i
LOGIC7 Surround sound offers a sound
quality superior to conventional stereo
sound.
If the radio reception is poor, the
system should be switched back to
standard stereo playback. Switching
back to standard stereo playback may
improve audio quality.

The function will switch off automatically
when the beginning track is reached.

Press and hold H for more than 2
seconds.

Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
Setting soft key and press to select.
The setting menu will appear.
The following options are available:
Normal track sequence
Tracks are played in ascending
order (e.g. 1, 2, 3 and so on). If just
one CD is inserted, the first track is
played when the last one is over.
Repeat track
The system repeats the current
track until you switch the function
off.
Track mix
Tracks are played in random order.
Press g or G to select the desired
option.
Press E.
The mode is activated. The CD main
menu will then appear. The playback
modes
TRACK MIX and REPEAT
TRACK
will appear in the status bar.

Adjusting bass and treble
Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
Bass or Treble soft key and press to
select.
A bar will appear at the top of the
screen.
Press h or H.
The respective setting is changed.
Adjusting brightness, contrast and
color
Turn the thumb wheel while the soft
keys are displayed (
page 103) to
highlight the
Brightn., Contr. or
Color soft key and press to select.
A bar will appear at the top of the
screen.
Press h or H.
The respective setting is changed.Scene/chapter skip
If the movie is divided into chapters or sce-
nes, you can skip them while the movie is
playing. Some DVDs will not allow this in
certain portions of the movie (e.g. during
screen credits, age restriction and/or pa-
rental advisories).
Press H or G.
H = Next chapter or scene
G = Previous chapter or scene or
beginning of scene if scene has been
playing for more than 10 seconds.
A window will appear at the top of the
screen indicating the scene number.Fast forward/reverse
Press and hold H or G during
DVD playback.
H = fast forward
G = fast reverse
Release the button to stop fast
forward/reverse.

4:3, 16:9 or Zoom soft key:
You can change the aspect ratio.
Full scn. soft key:
The soft key display disappears.
Tone soft key:
Brings you to the tone menu, where you
can set Bass and Treble (
page 108).
Bright., Contr. and Color soft
key

Allow you to adjust brightness, cont-
rast and color (
page 108).
Changing the aspect ratio
You can manually change the aspect ratio
during playback. To do this, use the top left
soft key. The soft key changes each time
you press the thumb wheel. Possible aspect ratios are:
4:3, 16:9 and
Zoom.
The soft key indicates the aspect ratio to
which you will change when you press the
thumb wheel.
Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
top left soft key and press the thumb
wheel in succession until the desired
aspect ratio is set.
Displaying full screen
Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
Full scn. soft key and press to se-
lect.
The soft keys disappear. The full screen
will appear.You can set the settings for both monitors
separately. To switch between monitors
(
page 90).
Press on the remote.
The System menu will appear.

Selecting the language
Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
Lang. soft key and press to select.
The languages list will appear.
Press G or g to select the desired
language.

Select Instrument cluster.
The display will use the same language
as is set in instrument cluster.
Press E.
The setting is applied. The System

If two audio sources (eg audio CD and
AUX 2) are playing back simultaneously,
one at the left monitor the other at the
right monitor, you can select which source
can be played through the vehicle
speakers via the COMAND AUX channel.
At the COMAND, you can set the volume,
bass and treble, balance and fader and
sound functions* (
page 82).
Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
Speaker soft key and press to select.
Press G or g to select Left
source
or Right source.
Press E.
The setting is applied. The System

Press the AUX soft key.
