Replacing bulbs
Notes on bulb replacement

Use only 12 volt bulbs of the same type
and with the specified watt rating.

Switch lights off before changing a bulb
to prevent short circuits.

Always use a clean lint-free cloth when
handling bulbs.

Your hands should be dry and free of oil
and grease.

If the newly installed bulb does not
come on, visit an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Light Truck Center.
Have the LEDs for the following lamps re-
placed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz
Light Truck Center.

Additional turn signals in the exterior
rear view mirrors

High mounted brake lamp

Lamps in the exterior rear view mirrors
Warning!G
Bulbs and bulb sockets can be very hot. Al-
low the lamp to cool down before changing
a bulb.
Keep bulbs out of reach of children.
Halogen lamps contain pressurized gas.
A bulb can explode if you:

touch or move it when hot

drop the bulb

scratch the bulb
Wear eye and hand protection.

Have the headlamp adjustment
checked regularly by a Mercedes-Benz
Light Truck Center.
Do not turn the headlamp adjusting
screws. If the adjusting screws are
turned, the headlamp adjustment must
be checked by a Mercedes-Benz Light
Truck Center.

Replacing bulbs
Replacing bulbs for front lamps
Before you start to replace a bulb for a
front lamp, do the following first:
Turn the exterior lamp switch to
positionM (
page 110).Headlamp unit
Left headlamp, right headlamp laterally
reversed
1Securing screw (trim panel)
2Headlamp trim panel
3Headlamp4Securing screw (headlamp)

For vehicles with brush guard*:
Fold the brush guard* down before
replacing bulbs (
page 331).
G55AMG:
Remove the protective grille before
replacing the bulbs.

Loosen and remove securing

seal.
Loosen and remove headlamp-securing

Remove headlamp3.
Installing
Insert headlamp3 and install and
tighten headlamp-securing screws4.
Install headlamp trim panel2 and
seal.

Remove protection cover1.
Pull off electrical connector3.
Unclip retainer spring4.
Remove bulb5.
Insert the new bulb so that its socket
locates in the recess of the lamp
housing.
Clip on retainer spring4.
Plug electrical connector3 onto
bulb5.
Reinstall protection cover1.Parking and standing lamp bulb
Pull off electrical connector2 from
bulb socket6.
Turn bulb socket6 counterclockwise
out of the lamp housing.
Insert a new bulb into bulb socket6.
Insert bulb socket6 into the lamp
housing and turn clockwise until it
engages.
Plug electrical connector2 onto bulb

and seal.
Loosen and remove front fog lamp-se-
curing screws4.
Remove front fog lamp3.
Installing
Insert front fog lamp3 and install and
tighten front fog lamp-securing
screws4.
Reinstall seal and front fog lamp trim
panel2.
Install and tighten securing screws1.Front fog lamp bulb

Pull off electrical connector6.
Unclip retainer spring7.
Pull out bulb socket8.
Insert the new bulb so that the base
locates in the recess on the holder.
Clip in retainer spring7.
Plug electrical connector6 together.

Front turn signal lamp

Loosen and remove securing
screws1.
Remove turn signal lens2.3Bulb
Press bulb3 gently into the socket,
turn counterclockwise and remove it.
Press new bulb3 gently into the sock-
et and turn clockwise until it engages.
Reinstall turn signal lens2.
Install and tighten securing screws1.Side marker lamp
The following description applies to both,
the front and the rear side marker lamps.

Remove the protective grille before
replacing bulbs.

Do not overtighten securing screws1.
Otherwise turn signal lens2 could be

Remove dust cover3.
Press catch aside and pull out the bulb
socket with the bulb from side marker
lamp housing2.
Press gently onto bulb4 and turn
counterclockwise out of its bulb
socket.
Press new bulb4 gently into the bulb
socket and turn clockwise until it
engages.
Insert the bulb socket back into side
marker lamp housing2.
Reinstall dust cover3.
Reinstall side marker lamp housing2.
Install and tighten securing screws1.
Replacing bulbs for rear lamps
Before you start to replace a bulb for a rear
lamp, do the following first:
Turn the exterior lamp switch to
positionM (
page 110).
Tail lamp unit

Do not overtighten securing screws1.
Otherwise side marker lamp
housing2 could be damaged.
