REMOVAL
1. Remove negative battery terminal. Refer to SC-4, "BATTERY" .
2. Remove A/T finisher. Refer to IP-13, "
A/T FINISHER" .
3. Disconnect selector control cable.
4. Disconnect A/T device harness connector.
5. Remove control device assembly.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Be careful of the following:
After installation is completed, adjust and check A/T position.
Adjustment of A/T PositionECS00EO0
1. Loosen nut of control cable.
2. Place PNP switch and selector lever in “P” position.
3. After pushing the control cable in the direction shown with a force of 9.8 N ·m (1kg-m, 2.2 lb-ft), release it. This is in the natu-
ral state, tighten control cable nut to specifications.
Checking of A/T PositionECS00EO1
1. Place selector lever in “P” position, and turn ignition switch ON
(engine stop).
2. Make sure selector lever can be shifted to other than “P” posi-
tion when brake pedal is depressed. Also make sure selector
lever can be shifted from “P” position only when brake pedal is
depressed.
3. Move the selector lever and check for excessive effort, sticking, noise or rattle.
4. Confirm the selector lever stops at each position with the feel of engagement when it is moved through all the positions. Check
whether or not the actual position the selector lever is in
matches the position shown by the shift position indicator and
the transmission body.
5. The method of operating the lever to individual positions correctly should be as shown.
6. Confirm the back-up lamps illuminate only when lever is placed in the “R” position. Confirm the back-up
lamps does not illuminate when selector lever is pushed against “R” position in the “P” or “N” position.
7. Confirm the engine can only be started with the selector lever in the “P” and “N” positions.
8. Make sure transmission is locked completely in “P” position.

Low-pressure Side Sometimes Becomes Negative
Low-pressure Side Becomes Negative
Gauge indicationRefrigerant cycleProbable causeCorrective action
Low-pressure side sometimes
becomes negative.
Air conditioning system
does not function and does
not cyclically cool the com-
partment air.
The system constantly func-
tions for a certain period of
time after compressor is
stopped and restarted. Refrigerant does not dis-
charge cyclically.
↓
Moisture is frozen at expan-
sion valve outlet and inlet.
↓
Water is mixed with refriger-
ant.
Drain water from refrigerant
or replace refrigerant.
Replace liquid tank.
AC354A
Gauge indication
Refrigerant cycleProbable causeCorrective action
Low-pressure side becomes nega-
tive. Liquid tank or front/rear side of
expansion valve′s pipe is
frosted or dewed. High-pressure side is closed
and refrigerant does not flow.
↓
Expansion valve or liquid tank
is frosted.Leave the system at rest until
no frost is present. Start it
again to check whether or not
the malfunction is caused by
water or foreign particles.
If water is the cause, initially
cooling is okay. Then the
water freezes causing a
blockage. Drain water from
refrigerant or replace refrig-
erant.
If due to foreign particles,
remove expansion valve
and remove the particles
with dry and compressed air
(not shop air).
If either of the above meth-
ods cannot correct the mal-
function, replace expansion
valve.
Replace liquid tank.
Check oil for contamination.

NOTE:
Keep the probe inserted for at least 10 seconds. Use caution not to contaminate the probe tip with
water or dirt that may be in the drain hose.
5. If a leak is detected, verify at least once by blowing compressed air into the area of the suspected leak, then repeat the leak check.
6. Do not stop when one leak is found. Continue to check for additional leaks at all system components and connections.
7. If no leaks are found, perform steps 8 - 11.
8. Start the engine.
9. Set the heater A/C controls as follows:
NOTE:
For the automatic system, turn OFF the automatic controls and set the heater A/C controls manually.
a. A/C switch to ON
b. Air flow to VENT mode
c. Intake position to RECIRCULATION mode
d. Temperature to MAX cold
e. Blower fan speed to HIGH
10. Run the engine at 1,500 rpm for at least 2 minutes.
11. Turn the engine OFF and perform the leak check again following steps 4 through 6 above.
Refrigerant leaks should be checked immediately after turning
the engine OFF. Begin with the leak detector at the compressor.
The pressure on the high pressure side will gradually drop after
the refrigerant circulation stops and pressure on the low pres-
sure side will gradually rise, as shown in the graph. Some leaks
are more easily detected when the pressure is high.
12. Before connecting the recovery/recycling equipment to the vehicle, check the recovery/recycling equip- ment gauges. No refrigerant pressure should be displayed. If pressure is displayed, recover the refriger-
ant from the equipment lines and then check the refrigerant purity.
13. Confirm refrigerant purity in supply tank using recovery/recycling equipment and refrigerant identifier equipment (J-41810-NI).
14. Confirm the refrigerant purity in the vehicle's A/C system using recovery/recycling equipment and refriger- ant identifier equipment (J-41810-NI).
15. Discharge the A/C system using recovery/recycling equipment. Repair the leaking fitting or component as necessary.
16. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system and perform the leak test to confirm that there are no refrigerant leaks.
17. Conduct the Operational Check to ensure system works properly. Refer to AT C - 5 8 , "
Operational Check
(Front)" and AT C - 6 0 , "Operational Check (Rear)" .

Bluetooth Control Unit Self-Diagnosis FunctionEKS00GBP
The Bluetooth control unit has two diagnostic checks. The first diagnostic check is performed automatically
every ignition cycle during control unit initialization. The second diagnostic check is performed by the techni-
cian using the steering wheel audio control switches prior to trouble diagnosis.
BLUETOOTH CONTROL UNIT INITIALIZATION CHECKS
Internal control unit failure
Bluetooth antenna connection open or shorted
Steering wheel audio control switches (SEND/END) stuck closed
Vehicle speed pulse count
Microphone connection test (with playback to operator)
Bluetooth inquiry check
STARTING THE DIAGNOSTIC MODE
1. Turn ignition switch to ACC or ON.
2. Wait for the Bluetooth system to complete initialization and the Bluetooth ON indicator to stop flashing.
This may take up to 10 seconds.
3. Press and hold the steering wheel audio control switch SEND button for at least 5 seconds. The Bluetooth system will begin to
play a verbal prompt.
4. While the prompt is playing, momentarily press both the steering wheel audio control switches SEND and END buttons simulta-
neously. The Bluetooth system will sound a 5 second beep.
5. While the beep is sounding, momentarily press both the steering wheel audio control switches SEND and END buttons simulta-
neously again.
6. The Bluetooth system has now entered into the diagnostic mode. Results of the diagnostic checks will be verbalized to the
technician by the system.
