Parking Brake/Low Brake Fluid Level Warning Light Warning Light Operation The parking brake/brake fluid level warning light should come on when theparking brake is applied and the igni- tion switch is turned to "ON" or "START". After the engine is started,the light should go out when the park- ing brake is released. If the parking brake is not applied, thewarning light should come on when the ignition switch is turned to "ON" or "START", then go out when the enginestarts. If the light comes on at any other time, you should slow the vehicle and bring it to a complete stop in a safelocation off the roadway. The brake warning light indicates that the brake fluid level in the brake mas-ter cylinder is low and hydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications should be added. Afteradding fluid, if no other trouble is found, the car should be immediately and carefully driven to a Hyundai dealer forinspection. If further trouble is experi- enced, the vehicle should not be driven at all but taken to a dealer by aprofessional towing service or some other safe method.

High Beam Indicator Light
The high beam indicator light comes on whenever the headlights are switched to the high beam or flash position.
B260G01A-AAT Low Oil Pressure Warning Light CAUTION:
If the oil pressure warning light stays on while the engine is run- ning, serious engine damage may result. The oil pressure warninglight comes on whenever there is insufficient oil pressure. In normal operation, it should come on whenthe ignition switch is turned on, then go out when the engine is started. If the oil pressure warninglight stays on while the engine is running, there may be a serious malfunction. If this happens, stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so, turn off the engine and check the oil level. Ifthe oil level is low, fill the engine oil to the proper level and start the engine again. If the light stays onwith the engine running, turn the engine off immediately. In any in- stance where the oil light stays onwhen the engine is running, the engine should be checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer beforethe car is driven again.

If you suspect brake trouble, have your brakes checked by a Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. Driving your car with a problem in either thebrake electrical system or brake hy- draulic system is dangerous, and could result in a serious injury ordeath.

58MULTI-FUNCTION LIGHT SWITCH
B340C03E-AAT Headlight Switch To operate the headlights, turn the barrel on the end of the multi-function switch. The first position turns on the parking lights, sidelights, tail lights andinstrument panel lights. The second position turns on the headlights. NOTE: The ignition must be in the "ON" position to turn on the headlights. Parking Light Auto Off If you do not turn the parking lights "OFF" after driving, the parking light will automatically shut "OFF" when thedriver's door is opened.
B340A01A-AAT COMBINATION TURN SIGNAL, HEADLIGHT AND HIGH-BEAMSWITCHTurn Signal Operation Pulling down on the lever causes the turn signals on the left side of the car to blink. Pushing upwards on the levercauses the turn signals on the right side of the car to blink. As the turn is completed, the lever will automaticallyreturn to the center position and turn off the turn signals at the same time. If either turn signal indicator light blinksmore rapidly than usual, goes on but does not blink, or does not go on at all, there is a malfunction in the system.Check for a burned-out fuse or bulb or see your Hyundai dealer.
B340B01A-AAT Lane Change Signal To indicate a lane change, move the lever up or down to a point where it begins flashing.The lever will automatically return to the center position when released.

B340E01A-AAT Headlight Flasher To flash the headlights, pull the switch lever toward you, then release it. The headlights can be flashed even thoughthe headlight switch is in the "OFF" position. HXDFL351
To turn them "ON" again you must simply turn the ignition key to the "ON"position. B340F01A-GAT Daytime Running Lights (If installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with day- time running lights. The daytime run- ning lights are used to improve visibil- ity for oncoming traffic. Your vehicledaytime running lights are designed to remain on continuously when the en- gine is operating even though the head-light switch is in the "OFF" position. However, the daytime running lights will be off while the parking brake isapplied.
B340D01A-AAT High-beam Switch To turn on the headlight high beams, push the lever forward (away from you). The high beam indicator light will come on at the same time. For lowbeams, pull the lever back toward you.

To operate the automatic light feature, turn the barrel on the end of the multi- function switch. If you set the multi-function switch to "AUTO", the tail lights and headlights will be turned automatically on or off according toexternal illumination conditions. NOTE: Switch on car light manually in foggy, cloudy and rainy conditions.

63REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH
B380A02A-AAT The rear window defroster and heated outside rearview mirrors are turned onby pushing in the switch. To turn the defroster off, push the switch a second time. The rear window defroster auto-matically turns itself off after about 15 minutes. To restart the defroster cycle, push in the switch again after it hasturned itself off. B380B01E
The headlight washer switch can beoperated with the ignition switch at the"ON" position and the light switch at
the "ON" position. Push the button and the washer fluid will be sprayed on tothe headlights for about 0.7 second. NOTE: Check the headlight washers peri- odically to confirm that the washerfluid is being sprayed properly onto the headlight lenses.
NOTE: The ignition must be in the "ON" position for the rear window defroster to operate.

CAUTION:
Do not clean the inner side of the rear window glass with an abrasive type of glass cleaner or use a scraper to remove foreign deposits from theinner surface of the glass as this may cause damage to the defroster ele- ments.

To heat the outsiderearview mirror glass, push in the switch for the rear window defroster. The rearview mirror glass will be heated fordefrosting or defogging and will give you improved rear vision in inclement weather conditions. Push the switchagain to turn the heater off. The out- side rearview mirror heater automati- cally turns itself off after 15 minutes.

Do not do any towing with your carduring its first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) in order to allow the engine to prop-erly break in. Failure to heed this caution may result in serious en- gine or transaxle damage.

36HEADLIGHT AIMING ADJUSTMENT
G290A02E-GAT Before performing aiming adjustment,
make sure of the following.
1. Keep all tires inflated to the correct
pressure.
2. Place the vehicle on level ground and press the front bumper and rear bumper down several times.(Place the vehicle at a distance of 3,000 mm (118 in.) from the test wall.)
3. See that the vehicle is unloaded
(except for full levels of coolant,engine oil and fuel, and spare tire, jack, and tools). Have the driver or equivalent weight placed in driver'sseat.
4. Clean the head lights lenses and
turn on the headlights (low beam).
!WARNING:
Be sure to carefully wipe away any water drained out in this manner, because the fuel mixed in the wa-ter might be ignited and result in a fire.

1. Loosen the drain plug at the bottom of the fuel filter.
2. Tighten the drain plug when water no longer comes out.
3. Check to be sure that the warning lamp illuminates when the ignition key is turned to "ON", and that it goes off when the engine is started. If in doubt, consult your nearest authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
NOTE: It is recommended that water ac- cumulated in the fuel filter shouldbe removed by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
